A nice coastal pub on Salt Spring with beautiful views and solid pub food menu. The duck wings were pretty tasty and unique and fish and chips had a great batter. We got seated outside which had nice views. Decent size beer list and we found our server was attentive. Food came quickly. 5/5 for pub food. If you're looking for something upscale in terms of dining, then this would not be a 5/5 for food of that standard but we enjoyed ourselves. read more

This is a hard review. My wife had the wings and they were excellent. I had the pulled pork, the worst pulled pork sandwich I've ever had. They fill it with coleslaw. Not coleslaw on the side. So the hot pulled pork was smothered by cold messy coleslaw. Scraped it off and found very little pork. The French fries were very good and hot. read more

AMAZING! I didn't end up getting a picture of the food, but it was soooo good. Probably the BEST chicken sandwich I have ever had. The cook definitely knows how to COOK! The fries were delicious and you have to try the truffle mayo.. life changing. The wait for a normal table was long at peak times but if the bar is open you can sit there. Everyone is very friendly and the regulars are great! 10/10 would recommend for lunch/dinner if you're in the area.. no other choice! read more

Don't let the parking lot scare you, it's delicious! Everything we ordered was delicious. I liked that they could make lots of things vegan or gluten free. We ordered the fish and chips and the Cuban sandwich. I wasn't expecting the food to be good, but it really was yummy. The coleslaw that comes with the fish and chips was our favorite. The fries were perfectly crispy. The fish was good quality and big portions. The bread on the Cuban sandwich could have been better, but dude, it's a long way from Cuba. The sandwich was flavorful. We were visiting from out of town. I called at 5:00pm to see how late they were serving food. The woman that answered said that they serve the full menu until 9:00 and have a late night menu until 10:00. We planned our evening around this information. We arrived at Moby's at 9:10 and were told the kitchen closed at 9:00 and that we were given bad information. At that point there were no other dining options in town. Instead of providing something from the kitchen, they brought us a small bag of chips. Not cool. read more

Pretty solid all around. The duck wings are awesome. On the other end of the scale, they have "ramen" on the menu. It didn't even have ramen noodles in it. Great view, good music and fun times but the service is not always up to snuff. Walked over from the marina to take in some live music and a beer. The bartendress was not having a good day. She was pissy at best but our drinks kept coming out. While we did not eat, the experience was good and definitely good enough to come back and try out the menu. read more

This is the spot to go to for a chill place. It's got wifi (password: Mobyspub), TV with the Raptors playing, and a nice chalet décor. The beer selection is great and the people are friendly. Even though we payed a visit on a boring Monday night, Moby's vibe and clientele made me had a blast. There was a bingo game going on, the happiness of the dude that won was contagious. I wish I had luck in games. The bar area was full, I guess because it's easier to make conversation after few beers. I met a super cool couple from Alberta. The waitress was awesome, she attended us like a pro. Her smile was authentic, her friendliness non faked. I really liked the duck wings. It's one of the most original dishes I've found in a pub menu. Having the idea is one thing, executing it with total success deserves 2 thumbs up. The meat was tender, they marinated them perfectly, I loved the Asian touch. The fries were tasty, cero salty, crispy enough, so do the potato halves. Good cooking going on! Iconic gastropub in Ganges harbor on Saltspring Island... THE ROSES: Nice location at the end of the dock. Lovely dining space; very comfortable. Wonderful staff - very pleasant and efficient. Fun theme nights; on Tuesdays they have a very well-run trivia night. Very clean, especially the restrooms. THE THORNS: While the food is good, it isn't 'over the top' spectacular. The portion sizes of the fish in the fish and chips is a bit chintzy, especially when compared to other area 'chippies' like Fish on Fifth in Sidney. THE VERDICT: Pretty much the only game in town in this section of the town, but they don't take advantage of that fact; they work for your business. I recommend. read more

The duck wings are out of this world! The smoked cod chowder is great! The menu had all kinds of other things that looked worth trying - so many choices and only a single visit. Sitting by the side of the harbor with a deck overlooking the water, this is a great pub for seafood oriented pub food, beers and the view. To say Moby's Pub is just a gastro pub would be a mistake. Two weeks before our visit, I was not familiar with Salt Spring Island. Moby's was the first place we stopped to eat off the ferry. Our server was so nice, attentive and sweet. She made our visit memorable. Our fish and chips were fried perfectly and the calamari was just what I needed. We actually enjoyed it so much we came back the next evening for dinner. We plan on visiting the island again and a part of our trip will be Moby's so please don't change. read more

To be honest, I'm not sure where all the high-rated reviews are coming from. The view is amazing but the service and food were lacking. Maybe it's because we visited the treehouse cafe the day before for lunch and I'm comparing with that amazing meal and service, but today's midday meal at Moby's Pub was underwhelming. The cod and surf clam chowder was covered in croutons (??!!), my baked ravioli dish was highly oily and the "grape tomatoes" described in the menu as part of the dish were unripe chopped up regular tomatoes (think nacho topping), my children were given a kids' menu which was a colouring sheet with no accompanying crayons. This place needs a major revamp on many levels. I recommend you save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Had a wonderful dinner at the pub while staying at the Salt Spring Marina. We had the famous Duck Wings and the Tuna Bowl. Both were amazing and the wing sauce was amazing. From the outside, during the day, it doesn't look too promising, but at night, lit up, it is the place to be and been seen. (And in fact, one of the only places to be at night on the island.) We stopped into Moby's for dinner last night. It was a stormy evening, and Moby's offered a warm, cozy reprieve from the weather (they also have TVs, which was great for catching the end of the hockey game). For dinner, we ordered the seafood boil which promised enough mussels, prawns and crab for two people, as well as potatoes, corn and garlic bread. In preparation for the dinner, the waitress brought out large sheets of paper to cover the table,in addition to crab shell crackers, napkins, and moist toilets: the only thing missing were those cheesy disposable lobster bibs! When the food came out, we were instructed to dump the pot on the table and eat with our hands; it was a little messy, but a fun novelty. All in all, the seafood was pretty good; my only complaints are that the crab was a minute or two overdone, and there could have been more seafood (and fewer potatoes) in the pot. Just as we were finishing dinner, a local band set up and started playing a rock/jazz show complete with dancing; we didn't stay long after that, but it was a pleasant surprise to have live music with dinner. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone passing through Salt Spring and looking for a casual meal out. read more
