Ordered the Deep fried pickles, Black and Blue Salad and the Plain Jane Burger along with cold beverages. The deep fried pickles are always good and crispy (we already ate 4 of them before taking a pic), this was the first time having the Black and Blue salad with chicken (absolutely delicious and filling, there was enough for two), and the plain Jane Burger is always good and fills the craving for a good burger. English style pub is a cut or two above the rest, thanks to good food and a helpful staff. THE ROSES: If you're an Anglophile, Fox and Hounds is a great pub to visit. Wonderful olde English atmosphere. Very good selection of beers on tap. Staff is very helpful in setting up patrons with dishes that allow for dietary restrictions (like gluten intolerance). What I particularly liked is that they were able to make fish and chips for me that was panko breaded rather than battered. I know battered fish and chips is the 'English' way, but few restaurants this side of the Atlantic get battered fish right. All too often it's too much batter, or the fish is really greasy. I didn't feel like taking a chance, so the kitchen breaded my fish and it was really nicely done. The bread pudding is also a standout. THE THORNS: None worth mentioning. THE VERDICT: Fox and Hounds is one of those rare pubs that puts as much (or more?) thought into their food as they do their beer. It's a wonderful 'little bit 'o Britain' in the quiet backwater town of Ladysmith BC Highly recommend! read more

Very, very friendly service. Like standout. Adorable decor, good drink, FANTASTIC sticky toffee pudding. 8/10 comfort for inside chairs. Didn't get to peep the bathrooms. Was told they have a sister bar called The Black Goose with an incredible waterfront outdoor space. read more

We had dinner tonight at the fox and hound. We have eaten there numerous time in the past,and the food and drink were amazing. This was the first time since Covid 19. And I have to say I was totally disappointed. We always have the same meal as they are our favorites. My husband had the seafood pie which he said was wonderful. My fish and chips and my drink ( Ceasar) were well below par. My drink was tasteless and watered down, I sent it back for a new one and it was no better. My fish was bland and the coating was mushy. I had the Shepherd's Pie and a Guinness, both at half-size, which is a really great option at a restaurant. All pies come with bread, butter and a side salad. The pie was full of generous chunks of burger, peas and carrots, gravy and topped with great tasting, real mashed potato. It was very good and satisfying, and like all British (and Canadian) food it can do with a splash of salt and pepper. The Guinness is at proper temp and sat before being served, so I'm a happy camper. The atmosphere is easy and quiet at an early hour on Wednesday night. You choose your own table and order at the bar, and they'll serve you at the table. I see music speakers set up in the corner, so I'm a bit sad that I wasn't here for a music night! read more

The Fox & Hounds provided a beverage stop for us, during a short walkabout of Ladysmith, as we travelled south to Victoria recently. Daughter and I were seeking a flight of tasters, but they were not to be found there, so at the server's suggestion, we settled for sharing two 10oz brews, and Mom with some ice-water. -- Longwood Dunkelweizen - a German style dark wheat ale. -- Inn(i)s & Gunn Original - a Scottish ale aged in oak barrels, with a whiskey aftertaste. Two very tasty brews (especially the Scottish ale - loved the whiskey 'kick' at the end!!), and cold water ... yum to all three! An enjoyed stop. read more

This pub has a real homey feel to it. The people are super nice as well which is always a bonus. The format here is you have to order your food and drinks at the bar but we didn't feel this too away from the experience at all. They have a great selection of locally brewed beer plus others. We started with the smoke salmon mousse and artichoke dip. Both were good but the mousse was over the top! Our party had the halibut fish & chips - great, seafood pie - good, and steak & mushroom and blue cheese pie. The meat pie was pretty good but I thought the blue cheese was overpowering. The meat was so tender and the sauce was so good. I would recommend if u like blue cheese otherwise get the one without the cheese. read more

We were at a private party for 20 people. The reservation was booked in advance so not a drop in. Our food took over an hour to come out. The meals were brought out over 20 minutes so we did not eat together. The food was good but the wait was inexcusable. read more

This place is just a cut above. The barmaid was very professional and friendly. I had the steak and kidney pie and it was most excellent. The room is great. All the things you would expect in a British pub. The chairs do not have arms which I find , once again , most excellent. Older crowd when I was there but I am older so I fit right in. Absolute rubbish! This place is a joke food was terrible service was worse.. You have no server you have to order everything from the bar drinks and food with 1 bartender the line up gets long waiting for 5 mins just to get another drink. Terrible setup and tasteless food..
