Mavis Discount Tire - Loose ABS Clamp

When I went back they failed it because the check engine light was on and told me we should just look for a new truck because this one was too old (2006) and they didn't have time to chase down that problem. I took it home and corrected those issues in less than an hour and took it back in. Now they failed it again (after the emissions passed) and charged me $1800 for front pads, front rotors, and 1 front hub bearing. They claim the hub bearing was $800+. When I offered to bring my own bearing in they threatened to increase my labor cost because he supposably was giving me a discount. Keep in mind there is ZERO labor in replacing the hub bearing since you need to remove it to replace the rotor, which they were doing. After I got it home, I changed the oil to find they never attached the ABS wires on the new hub or on the existing hub. In fact they broke the screw off and just left the bracket hanging. These guys knew my son needed the car and 100% F*&%KED me over. I will never go back there and will be sending this same review to their corporate offices. See attached picture and video of how they left it.

They, in addition, referred me to a business where I could get the rim repaired. They performed an alignment, and a safety check. I highly recommend Mavis on Woodbourne for your automotive needs.

Disappointed Doesn't Even Begin to Cover It…read more I've been a loyal Midas customer for years, bringing my car here for everything from routine maintenance to major repairs. But after today's experience, I will not be returning -- and I'm honestly shocked I even have to write this. Here's what happened: We took my mom's car to Tire City for a routine tire rotation (they offer free rotations and patches if you buy tires from them). But as they started the process, they stopped immediately after trying to remove the rear driver's side tire. The lug nut was overly tight, and they didn't feel comfortable proceeding -- they suggested we go back to the last shop that worked on the tires: Midas in Langhorne. That's when everything fell apart. At Midas, the manager refused to even look at the car. He said they couldn't verify who last worked on the tires because he "couldn't see the locations" on the CARFAX report. When I calmly questioned that -- because I know CARFAX absolutely shows that info -- he raised his voice at me. When I asked him not to speak to me like that, his response? "If I was raising my voice at you, you'd know it." Completely unprofessional and honestly, a bit threatening. To make matters worse, my mom (who's in her 60s) was treated dismissively the entire time ; it was my moms car -- and this was after I explained that we were just trying to resolve a safety issue. The front desk staff acted like they couldn't hear us, responding with repeated "what?"s and generally acting like we were an inconvenience. I was told there were no service records for her vehicle in their system -- even though she's had multiple services done there and still have paper receipts to prove it. Frustrated, I went home, pulled up the CARFAX -- and lo and behold, it clearly lists Midas Langhorne as the last place that serviced her tires (following a brake replacement). So not only were we turned away without help, we were also lied to. I'm still shocked at the complete disregard for customer loyalty and basic decency. I've never been treated this poorly at a shop, and to see this level of disrespect -- especially toward my mom -- was beyond disappointing. To whoever manages this location: Do better. Your long-time customers deserve better. (And if you're reading this and thinking of visiting -- fair warning, the manager we dealt with was a shorter, middle-aged man with gray and black facial hair. I believe his name is either Alex or John, both are managers.) Attached a photo of my CARFax for proof.

Smarmy with a hint of sexism…read more I made the mistake of having a state inspection done here since it was a convenient distance from my house and they could get me in on a Saturday. They were nice when checking me in. They seemed to be well staffed since about 3-4 of them were just hanging out joking with each other in the office when I arrived. After waiting for TWO HOURS (maybe not well staffed?) for the inspection to be complete, I was called up to the desk because they found some "issues." The lower control arms were allegedly in bad condition and the bushings were almost "completely apart". If I just paid them $1000 they could get it fixed right up for me to pass the inspection. Funny since I was just at the dealership a few months ago having a 100,000 mile full work up of my car done including the suspension. Everything was in great condition. I'm no mechanic, but I do take the maintenance aspects of my car that are critical for safety seriously so have it checked out by the dealership regularly. So with normal driving in 3 months and absolutely no issues with steering such as vibration, loud noises, or drifting to one side, I found their claim hard to believe. If we are being honest what actually happened was they saw a young female who was a new resident to the state and thought they could make a quick buck. It's especially obvious when you read other reviews and there is another woman they told the exact same thing to--what a coincidence! Luckily I can tell if someone is trying to take me for a ride. So I decided to go someplace more reputable. I was able to get into the dealership and have them do a full PA safety inspection. The mechanic at the dealership confirmed that there were no issues with the car and met the state's safety requirements. They even washed my car. I'm thrilled to use them regularly from now on for all my maintenance needs. Do not go to Auto Express. They will try and take advantage of you. I look forward to filing a complaint with the state and with the Better Business Bureau.

I inspected some parts of the transmission to determine they did nothing to open it up or diagnose the problem, other than scanning trouble codes. In search of a second opinion, I called Cottman and the service manager Scott happily spent 20 minutes on the phone with me asking questions to give me a more accurate picture of what the problem might be, and what the costs could be. A few weeks later I visited the shop on my way home from work (20 minutes before they closed) and Scott took the time to take a 30-minute test drive, plug in the diagnostic, and troubleshoot the matter. He said that there was a much smaller issue related to the transmission fluid temperature and said he could get the work done in under a day. I arranged for an appointment a few days later. Scott and Beth were happy to arrange drop-off/pick-up service to my office a few miles away. I couldn't be happier with their honesty, efficiency, and experience. In this day and age, even though I'm mechanically inclined, it's tough to find a skilled mechanic you can trust. I will confidently refer my friends, family, and professional contacts to Cottman knowing they will be in good hands with Beth and Scott at the helm.
