We had a car that we weren't driving very often because of the shutdown, and somehow water got into it, and the entire inside of the car was moldy. It was disgusting. The steering wheel was fuzzy, for example. There are lots of car detailers out there, and there are lots of mold specialists out there. But there are very few car people who do mold. I spoke to a few, and Scott at Mobile One was head and shoulders above the rest, in his knowledge of the problem, the probing questions he asked, and his plan to remove the mold from our car. Scott spent an enormous amount of time speaking with me about the problem, walking through what he wanted to do, and explaining his process. He let me know he'd done this many times before, and made sure I knew what to expect, in the process, timeline, and cost. His estimate was spot on in all cases. I live in Northern Virginia, and will gladly drive up to Kensington again to have Scott work on any other detailing work we have, be it general upkeep or damage remediation. I've used Mobile One since the mid 90's and have always had impeccable service. I try to get my cars detailed once each season and they make it look showroom ready every time. Over the years I've actually given detailing gift certificates to a lot of my clients as holiday or birthday gifts and they end up using these guys forever. I brought a used car from a dealer two months ago. The car had a strong smell of cigarettes. They told me they would be able to detail it to remove the smell but I would have to return the following day to pick up but took it regardless. Bad decision. I didn't think it would be such a headache. I paid in cash so wasn't too sure if they would be willing to still detail the car. It was sold as is. I kept buying car scents every month to cover the smell. I have 5 scents, Lysol and spray. In a way I was getting use to the smell after two minutes it no longer bothered me. But my boyfriend got so mad because the smell was strong. Told me get it detailed to get rid of it. Previously, I had reached out to a company here on Yelp to inquire about this problem and they told me it wouldn't help so I wasn't too sure what to do. But decided to ask again. Called a couple of companies at work on Tuesday to receive more information and hopefully set an appt. Scott, returned my call and left me a voicemail. I returned the call and had an opportunity to speak to him and get the info I needed. Pricing was less than the previous company. And best part is that their mobile so they come to you! Asked for an appt for Thursday since it was my day off but Scott stated Friday was the earliest. The only problem with that was that I would be at work. But he stated that they could go and do the detailing there since their mobile. Comes Thursday and I took the car to get an oil change. I was home when Scott called and asked if they could do the work today Thursday instead of Friday (due to extreme weather for Friday making it unsafe to work outside in). I stated the car was being service and wasn't too sure when I would get it. He asked to let him know as soon as I knew if not then they would come out Monday. Within a couple of minutes I get another call from Hugo saying he's outside to work on the car. I didn't say yes to Scott because I knew the car was having the oil change. -_- called Midas and the car was ready. Told Hugo that I would be there in a few just had to pick up the car which was 7 minutes away walking. BUT as I'm pulling up to the parking lot to my complex I realized he said he was at my job beside the dumpsters. Had to call him again and explained that I was off and to please come to where I live 10 minutes away. He was so polite and patient with me through the misunderstanding. Even tho I did not agree to today because I didn't have the car it all worked out. And I'm glad Hugo was so patient and willing to wait and travel a bit more. I barely have much in the car because I like to keep it clean but as I waited for Hugo to arrive I gathered the few things in there to make it easier to clean and took it inside. He arrived with someone else and they started immediately. Took about an hour and 20 minutes. No more smell, at least not for now. I have been Traumatize so hopefully this is it. Hugo explained that the smell was covering current parts in the car that he cleaned. Normally with me getting into the car I would smell it and I have got inside the car about 3 times later in the day and no smell. Crossing fingers! Everything got cleaned even the outside. Probably the last time I will use this company. Like a review that has since been "deleted"/filtered. When you make an appointment online, you have no idea if it was successful. So I made an appointment, I was charged for the service and I just assumed they would come like normal to wash my car. At the appointed date and time. Nothing. So I kept trying to call them with no response. They had my number so they could have called. After a bit of phone tag, they agreed to refund my charge, which to their credit they did. They noted they no longer go to my location for "just a wash." It would have been great if they put that online. It would have also been great if the person on the line wasn't one of the rudest people I've ever talked to. He was quite condescending to a FORMER repeat customer. The worst part was that they double charged me for a wash that never occurred. Math time! They charged me two times and only refunded me once. I was patient and waited to see if the other charge would go away and it didn't. So I told my credit card company that it was an error and I never got the service. Here comes the craziest part-the rep called me at work (during the workday) to literally be more rude and chastise me for reporting them to my credit card company. What should I do? Should I just let them take my money for a service not rendered? Maybe they should have set up their systems correctly to a) actually describe services they provide, b) not double charge customers, c) when I call to actually get someone to help me, d) hire professional employees. I've literally never gotten a call from an actual business to yell at me after they were the ones who made mistake! I don't know if they are under new management but it's much different than my previous experiences which is unfortunate. read more

Not much to say here... Called Mobile One for a full car detail due to their relationship with my employer, and they did a great job. Got the dirt out of all the hard to get to spots, and because my Saab has a mostly white interior, it was easy to see that they really did clean everything. My only complaint is that they charged my credit-card instantly--before they'd even acknowledged that they had received my order...much less given me a date for the service. read more

I had a very positive experience with Mobile One Detailing. Scott (the owner) was very good at communicating with me via email - explaining the service, pricing and what to expect. He was very prompt, courteous and professional with his replies to my questions (of which there were many!) I signed up for a special that they offer: two vehicles for a set price (discounted). The two-man crew arrived at my home on time and were polite and professional. They explained to me what they'd be doing to my cars (a big pickup and a smaller Toyota) and got right to work. They worked non-stop for about a two-and-a-half hour period to complete the two vehicles. The result: The vehicles were in tip-top shape! I barely recognized my old, grimy Toyota. These guys are horrible. I had them do a detail and paint removal on my car for $175- it was worth maybe $20. They did a pathetic job removing the paint- I had to repay someone to do this (for $40) and he did such a better job. Also, they claimed my car door was locked so that they weren't able to vacuum the inside. When I went to my car- the drivers side door was definitely unlocked. Then, they tried to tell me that I was wrong. Rude, unprofessional people. Save your money and don't use them. read more
