My first complaint was there was not enough seating. When I got there I had to stand. Came back, had to stand again. My second complaint was, Wendy tells me after I sat there for 20 minutes that their printer was not working and directed me to Fed Ex up the street. Thirdly, after I returned I knocked on the reception window with no response. I sat there for another 20 minutes before Wendy ushered me back. Attitude sour AND did not handle my specimen properly. First thing was I had to ask for my copy of the visit. Second, my specimens was NOT put in their baggy in front of me. Thirdly, my left over urine was left on the back of the sink when I left. Oh, did I mention the BACK printer was working?

I drove about 25 miles one-way to see the MD and get lab work done. There are two ladies named Brenda and Lydia. I cannot recall which lady is named which, but I will warn you that the first lady that approached me was the African American lady female phlebotomist, who was extremely rude. First, she tied a tight band around my arm tighter than anyone has ever done in over seven decades. When I exclaimed that it was too tight, she said I need to go home because they cannot draw my blood for testing. She would not even listen to my preference for a certain size needle. I refused to drive all the way home and waste time and effort, so I asked for a supervisor or another phlebotomist. The one remaining was the Hispanic lady who was just the opposite of the first lady -- the Hispanic lady was soft-spoken, kind, and professional. She immediately got the size needle that I needed and lab work was completed in less than 5 minutes. Go figure? IF I return, I will definitely not deal with the first phlebotomist. Unbelievably rude!

It's been a long 7 months since I got my initial MTHFR test, which was sent to Spectracell Labs for…read moreprocessing. Without going into too many details, I had called the billing department several times, and in most instances (up until now) there was nobody on staff, or few people on staff, to take my call so I resorted to leaving voicemails everytime. I can only think of one or two call backs I received from my voicemail, and only one of those involved them leaving a message on my phone. The bill was still outstanding until now, as it took awhile to receive (I believe, initially, I received it in September or October of 2016 for a July 2016 test). The bill was much higher than anticipated, so I attempted to negotiate it down. Initially I was told, no, that I was a cash paying customer and the price was the price. However, I did have insurance and they did pay a small portion of the bill. After having my EOB's faxed more than once (Spectracell claimed they had never received EOBs even though I had confirmation from my insurance that they had, in fact, sent), I finally called back today to a) check to see if they had received my EOB and b) to pay the bill. The saga of trying to pay this bill is over. Not without Spectracell sending it to collections - despite my several attempts to contact them to negotiate the cost/prove insurance... the bill for this test is now paid. Let's just hope their sending it to collections doesn't ding my credit too badly... As for another test, I had the BRCA test done in Fall 2017, and I had preapproval from my insurance to have it done at no cost to me because of a family/personal occurrence of cancer. Despite this preapproval, Spectracell still tried to bill me for part of this test. I recall one call to Spectracell, in which myself, my insurance company, AND Spectracell was on the phone - as they continued to insist I owed them money, despite the insurance company (on the call) insisting I didn't as I had preapproval. The issue came down to the wrong medical code being submitted (not my fault), and it took several phone calls to settle it out. To say THAT interaction was annoying is a major understatement. In the future, I will always check to make sure any lab tests I am having done do NOT go to Spectracell. The amount of time I have spent on the phone to settle the issues is ridiculous, and even though everything worked out in the end, I don't want to have to deal with similar issues each and every time.

Covid tests from here are extremely pricey compared to other places…read more Customer service is extremely poor; I went here twice and there was no receptionist at either building. It took about 10 minutes for someone to respond to the door bell. I had called ahead of time to schedule an appointment and they seemed surprised to see me. Once I was finally let inside it felt eerie; something just felt wrong about this place. There was barely anyone in the office and the building looked neglected. Roof tiles and walls had stains on them and it smelled very musty.

Overall, not a bad experience…read more Making an appointment was super easy, just had to log on to their website and choose an appointment time for the location I wanted. There's a pre-screening application you have to fill out - name, address, insurance, etc. I had to print out a sheet for the lab to fill out. I got a text with check-in instructions and confirmed the appointment while waiting in the parking lot. When the appointment is ready, I got a text to come inside. The lab is on the 2nd floor straight out of the elevator. I was called less than 5 minutes after entering. The lab tech took me back and locked my personal belongings in a box in the bathroom, I guess to prevent fraud? He took my ID and gave me a sample cup for a urine sample, giving me 4 minutes. Again, I guess to prevent fraud. After giving the sample, the tech signed me out on the computer and sent me on my way, saying the results would be sent to my employer in 24 hours. I was in and out in 15 minutes, pretty painless.
