Covid tests from here are extremely pricey compared to other places. Customer service is extremely poor; I went here twice and there was no receptionist at either building. It took about 10 minutes for someone to respond to the door bell. I had called ahead of time to schedule an appointment and they seemed surprised to see me. Once I was finally let inside it felt eerie; something just felt wrong about this place. There was barely anyone in the office and the building looked neglected. Do not recommend, poor customer service, inaccurate results and very poor communications

Worst blood draw ever! My nutritionist sent me for a Micronutrient Kit and apparently this is the only lab that does it. The phlebotomist was kind and very gentle but her decision to use a large bore needle and not a butterfly has left me with redness at the injection site and a huge bruise the size of an orange. $390.00 later my right arm is sore and hard at the site and my right arm is swollen. I was impressed that she could actually draw blood with that size needle but the after effects will be with me for weeks to come. In all fairness, I should have been paying more attention to what she was doing and I will never make that mistake again. read more

Oddly, they were extremely efficient at billing my credit card in a very timely manner. It's been a long 7 months since I got my initial MTHFR test, which was sent to Spectracell Labs for processing. Without going into too many details, I had called the billing department several times, and in most instances (up until now) there was nobody on staff, or few people on staff, to take my call so I resorted to leaving voicemails everytime. I can only think of one or two call backs I received from my voicemail, and only one of those involved them leaving a message on my phone. The bill was still outstanding until now, as it took awhile to receive (I believe, initially, I received it in September or October of 2016 for a July 2016 test). The bill was much higher than anticipated, so I attempted to negotiate it down. Initially I was told, no, that I was a cash paying customer and the price was the price. However, I did have insurance and they did pay a small portion of the bill. After having my EOB's faxed more than once (Spectracell claimed they had never received EOBs even though I had confirmation from my insurance that they had, in fact, sent), I finally called back today to a) check to see if they had received my EOB and b) to pay the bill. The saga of trying to pay this bill is over. Not without Spectracell sending it to collections - despite my several attempts to contact them to negotiate the cost/prove insurance... the bill for this test is now paid. Let's just hope their sending it to collections doesn't ding my credit too badly... As for another test, I had the BRCA test done in Fall 2017, and I had preapproval from my insurance to have it done at no cost to me because of a family/personal occurrence of cancer. Despite this preapproval, Spectracell still tried to bill me for part of this test. I recall one call to Spectracell, in which myself, my insurance company, AND Spectracell was on the phone - as they continued to insist I owed them money, despite the insurance company (on the call) insisting I didn't as I had preapproval. The issue came down to the wrong medical code being submitted (not my fault), and it took several phone calls to settle it out. To say THAT interaction was annoying is a major understatement. In the future, I will always check to make sure any lab tests I am having done do NOT go to Spectracell. The amount of time I have spent on the phone to settle the issues is ridiculous, and even though everything worked out in the end, I don't want to have to deal with similar issues each and every time. read more

The lab botched my sample last May but cashed my check anyways. They promised me a refund, and the billing department verified it was in process a couple of months ago. It's been almost a year since the test and I still haven't seen it yet. I've tried contacting them many times to get an update and only once in over 10 phone call attempts have I been able to get a live person. I have been using SpectraCell Laboratories for 2 years now. SpectraCell Laboratories has always been professional as well as very prompt in responding to my email inquiries. Micronutrient testing plays a vital role in monitoring our body's metabolic state of wellness. I have used your micronutrient testing to help determine how much supplementation I may need along with my diet and lifestyle to optimize my personal levels. Everyone's needs are different of course, and to achieve this, one might be wise to work with a knowledgeable nutritional coach or functional medical doctor.  The typical "average" conventional medical doctor in the United States may be great at treating symptoms with drugs or procedures, but usually is very sadly lacking in much knowledge of 'health'....what constitutes 'health' or how to achieve it because they were never educated in medical school about health...only about symptoms, drugs, and procedures. When I began using SpectraCell Laboratories 2 years ago I had no clue of who SpectraCell Laboratories was or if they were legitimate, but they advertised, and still do, the most comprehensive micronutrient testing in the United States. Originally I had two blood samples drawn and sent one to a local laboratory and one to SpectraCell in order to compare the two. To my surprise and satisfaction, the results of the micronutrient levels were quite similar. pretty irregular place. They bill your insurance for an extraordinary amount, much higher than is reasonable. They do this to collect as much as they can. Then they require you to send your EOB (explanation of benefits) that your insurance sends to you as an FYI. This seems highly irregular. They KNOW what they received, so why should they need verification of it from your end? I believe it is so they can try to extract more money from you, asking for the balance that the insurance did not cover, when they already received much more than they said they would bill at the outset. The testing done by this lab is a bit "alternative." So there's no way to really verify their accuracy, and my sense is that they are sort of making up their normal ranges. I speak as a medical professional. I really can't recommend that you trust this lab, either financially or scientifically. read more

Very disorganized and billing department is incompetent.

I had a horrible experience working with this company. I opened an account in order to send for micro nutrient testing for my patients. The entire process was chaotic and disorganized from start to finish. They are very eager to send you the paperwork to open the account and to collect your payments but then once it gets to the point where they have to actually do the work things begin to fall apart very quickly. I have called this company several times over the past month and it seems as though every time you talk to somebody, you hear different information. At some point, the lab had determined that the blood sample needed to be re-drawn and at no point did anybody make any attempt to call or email to notify me that the specimen was not being processed. This resulted in my patient becoming extremely frustrated and demanding a refund after having waited for 3 weeks. I am also embarrassed because I have continuously reassured him that the lab was diligently working in his order, as they continued to reassure me that his sample would be ready soon. Finally, I called AGAIN to follow up and Spectracell instructed me to redraw the sample and mail it back. At this point, my patient has no trust or confidence in this lab whatsoever and does not want to do any testing with them. Now the lab is not refunding my money despite the fact that I do not have test results and I cannot force a patient to redraw blood, they accept zero responsibility for their actions, and they clearly do not communicate amongst themselves as a company. I would never do business with this company again. Their unprofessionalism and lack of organization will only reflect poorly on you as a provider or business owner. I have been encouraged to have the PATIENT request a refund despite the fact they charged MY card. It is bogus loopholes rather than accepting responsibility for their mismanagement. read more

Do NOT use Spectracell labs! Very POOR customer service! Spectracell had a crisis while changing to a new computer system and instead of being proactive and forthcoming with their fiasco~ they delayed informing us. A very bad strategic decision! We waited, we called (and couldn't get through numerous times). It took the new CEO 2 months to write a letter explaining the situation! UNreal! Results for simple lab tests should take less than a week but through Spectracell they have been delayed up to 4 weeks. read more

Well, now I'm sorry I went to the trouble of returning their kit with blood tubes. Never could get anyone on the phone, they don't answer emails, and the voicemail option says box full. There apparently is no staff. You cannot talk to anyone. Their form in the test kit gives a price but says they take insurance. So what is the total price and how do I know my insurance will pay? Having read the better business bureau complaints, I did not send a check or give them credit card number, said they should call me about the billing. I do not expect to get an actual result, and will tell my doctor about their problems. If he knew them, he did not tell me. Am I supposed to learn the hard way? read more

If you value your safety there is no way I would let them draw blood from you!!! I work in a lab setting and these people are far from safe or sanitary!!! I watched the technician handle all the butterflies, needles and vials barehanded without sanitizing her hands. She then opens all sanitized packets bare handed. Just before she's ready to draw blood she puts on gloves. At this point I got up and said there's no way you're using this on me and then walk out. Every one in there looked confused and clueless to why I wouldn't let them draw blood. read more

I spent $300 for a telomere test to find out what my cellular age is so that I can have a baseline to work with. When I received my test results back it was in the for of a graph and a number of 66 value. They gave me a number to call to have it explained and the dr. to me that the number 66 puts me in average for my age group, which is basically telling me nothing that I need to know. I asked for them to give me my cellular age in other words how old are my cells not my chronological age which is 65. They have no answer and apparently no clue why we are asking for cellular age for that baseline. I recommend a company who actually gives you that answer and many details to get you on your way to getting younger and you get a baseline to start out with and explain it to you in excellent detail for only $89 not the inflated price of $300. Look up Teloyears, this is a real company who will get you going in the right direction and assist you in making your telomere longer if they are short. I have asked this spectracell for my money back and they refuse. you will see why I want my money back when you check the difference between the two or research why to get them tested in the first place. read more

I had this test done in my doctors office. The lady who comes in to do the blood draw said she is an instructor on drawing blood. So why did it take her 9 try to take my blood? Then when my results came back one of the results I really was curious about was miss handled at the lab and they were not able to provide results. Worst service I have ever received. I will NEVER recommend that someone gets their lab work done through Spectracell. 6 months ago I ordered some lab work, submitted my payment and the form from the doctor with the codes to submit to the insurance. I've now been in contact with them for the last 6 months with them telling me that I owe $275 dollars because they didn't receive the codes the doctor submitted. 2 weeks ago I asked my doctor to resubmit the codes, he faxed them over. Today I received a bill stating that they are going to send me to collections because they didn't receive the codes to submit to insurance. I called them. I told them my doctor sent over the fax and they said that they didn't receive it. This has been going on for 6 months now. My doctor has submitted the forms twice. They are so disorganized and don't keep clear records of what has been going on with their clients. I've now had to contact my doctor for the 3rd time and beg him to resubmit the information. Luckily, I have an amazing physician and he's going to send them over again today. Regardless, this company is extremely disorganized, they don't care about their clients and they lack the ability to keep decent records. I will never go back to them and I hope others take this review to heart and go with a different company for their labs. read more

My insurance paid them $1000+ and yet they still wanted me to pay a "$150 test fee". I'm going to share the feedback with my doctor about their greediness and unwillingness to work with customers. Telomere testing: If you are looking for find out your biological age, use Teloyears, not Spectracell. Spectracell do not provide a biological age. I wish they had stated this in their literature. I have called them to ask and they said they do not provide this data. I regret paying $290 to Spectracell when I could have paid Teloyears $89 and have the data I was looking for. read more

Absolutely do not allow your blood to be sent here for any sort of testing. This summer, they started billing me for a test that was run back in December of 2016. They claimed my insurance company had paid me and now I owed them a check. My insurance company has no record of the claim. After calling them multiple times, rarely getting an answer, leaving several voice messages, I finally spoke with a woman who realized that no, my claim was never filed with the insurance company. I double checked my group number and ID number and all the information was perfect - she said she would resubmit right away. 2 weeks later, my insurance company still had not heard from them, so the insurance company called them directly with me on the line. We proceeded to listen to a waiting message for 20 minutes. When I finally spoke to another person by selecting a different method, they claimed the billing department was down. This has been repeated day after day. Yet, they still are managing to now send me weekly invoices for the balance now. They will not return my messages or answer the phone. This is either a scam or a ridiculously poorly run business. read more
