Tires Plus Automotive Centre - This Shop Will Rip You Off!

Tires Plus Automotive Centre

I brought my vehicle to Tires Plus for a basic seasonal tire swap. What I got in return was a…read morenightmare of vehicle damage, poor treatment, and zero accountability. Immediately after the service, I noticed steering issues, loud squealing, and my vehicle pulling to the left -- none of which were present beforehand. I returned for a pre-booked oil change the following week and expressed my concerns; they then had their mechanic test drive and inspect my vehicle. At no point did they acknowledge any major issues or mention anything unsafe. The Service Advisor came out and asked if I'd hit anything hard. I said no. He said, "Your steering wheel is way off." During that visit, they also told me my car needed rear brakes, possibly a seized caliper, and quoted me over $1,700 in repairs -- which I later confirmed were not needed at all. I had also just had my rear brakes done not even 2 years prior. They also recommended an alignment -- but when I asked to book it, they told me to wait until I "did my brakes." I was not informed that my vehicle was unsafe to drive or that the alignment needed to be done immediately. Not long after, while driving to Abbotsford with my sister and toddler, I nearly lost control of my vehicle on the highway. I was so scared I couldn't drive it home. I inched it to another shop, where I learned that my car was unsafe to drive due to: * Both control arms were damaged and needed replacement. * My tires were worn to the cords on the inside edges * The alignment was severely off on all 4 corners * My winter rims were severely dented and caved in and no longer usable. Even more disturbing: When Tires Plus hammered my winter rims excessively with a sledgehammer during removal, there was no attempt to notify me, no attempt to warn me of any damages that might occur, and the damaged rims were handed back in plastic bags without any notice or explanation. I was sent on my way with a severely compromised vehicle. Not once. But TWICE. When I raised these concerns, the shop owner laughed at me and dismissed my experience entirely. That lack of professionalism was as shocking as the damage itself. To be clear, this isn't about trying to get free service -- it's about safety, transparency, and respect. Prior to this visit, my vehicle had passed a full inspection elsewhere: tires, alignment, steering, and suspension were all in good condition. The problems began immediately after this shop's service. I've since documented everything -- with photos, written reports, and damaged parts. I trusted this shop to do a routine job, and they returned my vehicle in far worse shape. I absolutely cannot recommend Tires Plus.

***SCAM ALERT***…read more TLDR: These guys (Tires Plus / Tireland) are dishonest at best, and have unethical business practices which likely cross some legal line. FULL STORY: Called to get my unmounted tires I just bought swapped over from winters, was quoted $100. Brought car in, was told 45 minutes; I go for coffee. About 30 minutes later I get a call, they have a problem because the tires are new; I bought them online. They say they actually charge double when tires are bought online, because local retailers etc. - says he'll do me the great favour of charging me "just" $180 since they're nearly done. I tell him "no thank you" and go to pick up my car & give him a piece of my mind. Back at the shop while I'm waiting for them to un-mount my new tires and re-mount my winters, he tells me all the shops have this same standard practice, and he uses Fountain Tire as a specific example, suggesting I call them and other shops. Also says he asked me on the phone if the tires were new, which I'm pretty certain he didn't because had he, I wouldn't have known why he was asking and thought it was a weird question. I tell him so, and he immediately breaks into the old "You calling me a LIAR???" routine lol. Sure sign of a liar most of the time, as I'd figured he probably either forgot, but after seeing his reaction I figure it was a bait & switch routine, like quote me one price then hit me with another half way through when I've got my time invested. They probably do it all the time, which is why I'm warning you all. Suffice to say, I did call around since I still had to get my tires put on, and no, of course Fountain Tire does not charge a premium for tires purchased online, as that would be illegal (so the Tires Plus guy does turn out to be a liar, no surprise there) Businesses can charge whatever they want, but they can't discriminate in pricing based on the color of your skin, the way you cut your hair, what you had for breakfast, or WHERE YOU BOUGHT YOUR TIRES. What they can absolutely do is exercise their right to refuse service, but to quote one price and get the work half done, then call me up to charge more... these guys are predators, plain & simple.

Honestly, the few one star reviews among the plethora of 4 and 5 star reviews are almost comical. I bring my vehicles to Manni, (sorry if I spelled your name incorrectly Manni). I have given many other shops a chance to work on my auto's, and have never gone back. I'm sure there are a bunch I haven't been to that are top notch, but Mission Automotive is a shop I have come back to time after time. I see people talking about price, if you had any idea of the markup restaurants put on the food they serve, the taxes on the price of gasoline.... every business is in business to make money, period. The difference is the quality of the work performed, the standards of practice adhered to and the confidence built with the customer. Manni runs a tight ship. His team's work is first rate, he stands behind everything he does, he will go out of his way to get your vehicle fixed, safely, ethically and in a timely manner. There have been occasions I have walked in with a 4 hour job and because I really really needed my vehicle running..... Manni got 'er Done! You can count on getting a job done right. Manni is a reasonable, hard working guy who does it right. My hat is off to you. Well done. Thank you for keeping me truckin'. All the best.

They check all the fluids, filters, tire pressure, brakes, wiper blades, etc. We haven't experienced any upsell pressure. They may point out things that need to be addressed but there was no "hard sell" towards us. We have lived in the Fraser Valley for 26 years and have visited many oil change places. Take 5 is the only pace we'll take our vehicles now. I just went today and Josh & Gary were fast and courteous. They even fixed a tire rub issue in my wheel well for no extra charge. Fast service at a reasonable price... you even get a free bottle of water upon arrival!

For a quick oil change (15 mins) this is your place. Fast and friendly. Answer all questions. Watch out for the up sell. Dec 2023 Took my daughter's car here last weekend, standard oil change 5w20 with a coupon. $69 after tax. My other daughter went here on my recommendation, by herself, handed them the coupon, asked for 5w20 standard oil change and got a 5w30 oil change and they didn't discount the coupon, even though she handed it to them. And then got charged $72. Full price. Even though it's printed clearly in yellow on the oil fill cap 5w20, these guys put in 5w30. Even though they were handed the $5 off coupon, they didn't apply it. Be aware, these guys will get away with whatever they are allowed to. Don't send your first timers here alone. I'm so disappointed with this place, all five of our vehicles will probably start going somewhere else. Very disappointed.

I've never been so demeaned for being a woman. I called back for a refund after the refused to service me. Meanwhile Richard the owner sat in my car and googled codes he wasn't able to fix. The issue? My mechanic told me later that the tube they replaced in April was leaking, and that's what they refused to fix due to what I believe is incompetence. I called the following day for a refund and Allan told me to come in again and I said I didn't trust their work after coming in and waiting. Allan was extremely rude and dismissive after my long wait to an empty shop. If you aren't in an emergency, or a woman, AVOID this place. They add things to the bill without asking (my initial visit I was charged $100 for coolant I didn't want). Reported to BBB. Awful service. After a lack of info and waiting without answer, I towed my car. The new and trusted mechanic said the coolant leaked and needed a new hose. No one at Jiffy lube answered basic questions and in fact couldn't even find the leak! An appointment to fix the issue never happened. The owner, Richard, spent an entire hour sitting in my car Googling basic diagnostic codes on his personal cell phone. He did not know how to fix the issue, yet I was still charged [Insert amount if you want]. Falsely claiming we scheduled a follow-up is an attempt to cover up a complete lack of basic expertise and a rip-off. Future customers beware.
