We love Moab taxi and we are so very thankful for the rides we took while we were here for a retreat. Safe, kind and respectful ride at all times. I have read some not so nice reviews on here and my advice is to ignore those who don't plan accordingly and then behave in an entitled way. For the record, my friend and I did not plan accordingly at all! We thought we could just use our Uber app. There are really no Ubers and all the cars were rented. We are thankful Moab taxi was available and very accommodating. The price is the price people. Pay it or stay stranded and entitled. It is up to you. Thanks Moab Taxi! We needed a ride from CNY into downtown Moab (19 mile trip). Damon was holding a sign at the airport saying "Moab Taxi." I asked him how much, and he looked me up and down, and asked how many people. I told him 4. The price was $27 a person. so it's $108 total. Taxi rides don't work like that, it doesn't matter how many people are in the car. While scoffing at the extortion, I check Uber, but there weren't any available, which was a first for me. So it appeared this guy had a monopoly. My friend tried haggle a couple bucks off, but Damon got angry and told us to walk, and now it would be $500. We ended up going with this guy because we felt like there was no choice. Damon tried to make weird jokes about murder during the ride. The cab was a current Honda Accord with homemade "Moab Taxi" stickers on the side. At the hotel, the super friendly clerk arranged a ride back to the airport at the end of the trip with their maintenance staff for $20 for our party of 4. So yea, check with your hotel before you allow yourself to get ripped off by Moab Taxi. read more

HONESTLY... THANK YOU TOM. I was stuck on the 70 /191 junction and this company and Tom came through. My mechanic was 500 miles out and I was out of food and water. I called everyone in Moab hoping to find a delivery of food and no one could help. Moab taxi came through for me. They could have easily said no but instead heard me out. After reading the scathing and angry reviews of Moab Taxi, causing the average rating of this company to be a 2-star, I was preparing for the worst. I was ready to resort to Plan B and just stay at my hotel and purchase frozen meals from their snack shop to eat for dinner if I had to, but I thought to give this place a try? Why should I give this company a try? I called Trail Taxi (4-stars), left voicemail, no response. I called Redrock Express (4.5 stars), left voicemail, no response. This was my third option, and I'm glad none of the other companies called me back because this taxi service was amazing for me (and no I'm not a local, nor affiliated in any way shape or form to this company, related to the drivers, no connections whatsoever--this is my first time staying the night in Moab). Not knowing how busy Moab Taxi would be, I called ahead at 3pm to book a ride from the Springfield Suites at Marriott to downtown Moab for 5:30pm. What time did they show up? 5:30 on the dot. Tom was the driver and he was very friendly, polite, and helpful in providing recommendations for good dinner spots downtown. The ride cost $11.50, and when you weigh the options of walking 3 miles (aka an hour's walk) to paying $11.50, I'll definitely pay the $11.50. For the ride back to the hotel, I called Moab Taxi at 6:45 as I was finishing up dinner and requested to be picked up at 7:15pm. 7:10pm, Cliff shows up, the driver who took over for Tom for the evening. Cliff, like Tom, was friendly, easy to talk to, and got me where I needed to go quickly. Since it was night time, the rates were a little higher. The ride was $15. Again, weighing options here: walk alone in the dark with potential animals just chin-chilling with you along the walk/bike path in the cold (38°F) for like 45 minutes to an hour, or sit in a warm car for 5-10 minutes and get to your destination much quicker. For me, when it comes to being critical on prices, if I know that there are a limited number of companies operating in a smaller town, I'm willing to forgo more money if that's what it takes to get me where I'm going. If we were in a larger city that had Uber/Lyft, I probably would've taken the Uber/Lyft option since it would've most likely been the cheaper option, but with the choices I had (i.e. the lack thereof aside from Moab Taxi since Moab Taxi was the only one that picked up on the other end of the phone), Moab Taxi is worth the price. If you are worried about the price of the ride, simply ask the driver before they start driving so you're not surprised with the cost at the end of the ride that you are now obliged to pay. I forgot to ask either of the drivers if Damon still works at Moab Taxi, since he's been negatively called out in multiple reviews. Next time I'm in Moab (whenever that may be), I know I'm calling Moab Taxi first. read more

Damon was just the most sweet man we came across for the time we were there. Our car broke down and he took us under his wing. He didn't charge us an arm or leg and was sooooo patient. He deserves all the credit for making us feel better about our situation. Thank you Damon I cant praise you enough. Ok, this dude is about an hour late now. I've called twice & he doesn't pick up or return the call. Believe the other reviews - he's completely unreliable. When it's 90-100 degrees out there in the desert, you don't want to be depending on this guy for your ride because you're going to have a long, hot, sweaty wait. We liked him so much that we arranged to have him drive us back to the airport the following weekend and he provided the same terrific service for a fair price. Damon & This place were so awesome to me and had my back in a bad situation. On the day of our departure from Moab, our 2014 Ford F150 wouldn't start. We got the truck towed to Slick Rock Auto (great shop by the way). I used Damon & Moab Taxi several times during the day to get around (mainly the auto shop & Ford dealer) and he showed up very quickly and did everything in his power to help out with my bad situation, including giving me options if things turned worst. Thank you Tom for taking me to the GJT airport from Moab. Its a roughly 90 miles one way. His Honda Civic is perfect for 1 passenger with a carryon and bag. I did not need a large shuttle for this ride. Was referred to Moab Taxi by Moab Express which worked out nicely for private transport. Tom stopped at a half way point gas station for bathroom and snacks. read more

Man I could have sworn that Uber and Lyft existed in Moab. Well I got to the airport and I was S.O.L. I had to call this guy to come pick me up. I didn't believe he could be as bad as the other reviewers said, but they were right. The guy was rude the second he picked up the phone. I don't get it. Second he was late picking me up. He said he'd be there in 20 minutes. Took him 30 even though there was no traffic. The worst though was the price. $50 for a 15 minute car ride is a total rip off. He definitely has a monopoly on cabs in Moab. If anybody starts another cab company he'll be out of business in no time. It's just a dude and a car with "Moab Taxi" in home-made lettering on the side. He doesn't have a medallion or any special license, so anybody could come and undercut him with lower prices or better service. With car problems, we found ourselves with car troubles in Moab in need of a reliable taxi. Fortunately our hotel recommended Moab Taxi. I could tell that the driver, Cliff, was very busy but we found him to be very pleasant and professional. I explained our situation to him and he gave us assurances that he would take us to the restaurant for our dinner reservation, back to the hotel, and then again early the next morning to get our car. Phoned at 2.30 and asked if they could give my children and me a ride back if I took them out for a swim and my husband left with the car. Told it would be no problem and I didn't need to book but could call whenever I wanted a pick up. Phoned at 4.50 and told no-one was free for at least 3 hours. Now stranded several miles from our hotel with two young children and no way to give back. DO NOT TRUST them to get you home. read more

Damon, the owner operator, works long hours and takes excellent care of his clients. He took me to the airport to pick up a rental car one early morning and rang ahead on my behalf to ensure that the computerized reservation system actually had reserved a car for me. "This is a small airport," he said, "and sometimes the reservation system reserves and commits cars that are not there. I don't want this to happen to you." It did; there was no car; he stood by my side and ensured that the rental agency found a solution. He would have probably taken me back to town to find a car if it hadn't worked out. Dont hire him unless you have a reliable backup. He blew off my appointment even after multiple reconfirmations by phone, the last of which was the evening before. On a followup call he explained the mistake by lying to me, claiming I had reserved for a different day. This guy may have been reliable in the past, but no longer, and this was confirmed by others in Moab who had long experience with him. I strongly suggest calling the airport and get their advice on taxi service because they are aware of the serious problems that have resulted from relying on Moab Taxi Service. read more

Had the pleasure of using the Moab Taxi twice yesterday. Despite it being a very busy weekend, we didn't wait more than 10 minutes. Any of the positive reviews for this taxi company are locals and friends of the taxi driver or his family. I was given a ride from the Fairfield around 10 to downtown near Woody's and had a pleasant enough conversation and got a rundown of the area I was being dropped off in. There was very clear communication regarding my having to be picked back up, since my hotel was so far and they are the only taxi company open until 2'ish. I confirmed with the taxi driver that i needed a ride and wanted to be sure I called when they'd be open and he made the point to tell me that even though they go until two , if I called they would pick me up after two. Around right before 1 Woody's was closing down and I called and it went straight to voice mail. I called repeatedly and it continued to go to voice mail. I was over an hour's walk away from the Fairfield in 25 degree weather at 1 am. I asked random strangers for rides. Walked into hotels asking the attendants for a ride and offering them money. Finally someone at Denny's was nice enough to give me a ride. Mind you I had made it to Denny's!! Completely unreliable and unprofessional company. Multiple people told me through my journey that they do this to people all the time. It is a known fact in the town that the company flakes out on its customers yet Marriott recommended the company to me. I feel sorry for Moab that this is their only choice in late night transportation. There are no ubers or lyfts here either so it is unfortunate that most likely a lot of locals in Moab drive after being out all night because they know this company will leave them out on a hot summer day, or a cold winter night. read more
