Garage Co has quickly become our favorite spot in Moab. The nitro ice cream and the coffee drinks are delicious, but their new food and drink menu is truly amazing. Don't miss out on this place if you're visiting. The quality and options will far exceed your expectations: it would be busy and successful even in a coastal city, never mind a small rural town!
The space is clean and comfortable, with funky decor and artwork adding great ambiance. Local photography and art is displayed along the wall. The front room is very kid-friendly and open, and the separate back bar area (21+) is a great option for adults who want to enjoy a meal and/or a drink in a quieter atmosphere. There are also a few tables and benches outside in front, if you want to enjoy your ice cream in the sun or with your dog.
Highchairs are available and easily accessible (a must for our family) and seating is ample, as they've added lots of new tables and chairs.
The nitro ice cream flavors are always delicious and creative, and getting to watch your ice cream being mixed is always a fun experience for kids (and grown-ups!). Treat yourself to a homemade, fresh-off-the-iron waffle cone, I promise you will not regret it! The regular waffles are amazing, too, and these are by FAR the best waffles available in town (trust me, I've tried them all).
The coffee is Utah's best, La Barba, and completely lives up to the hype. They make an excellent latte, which can be rare in rural Utah. They serve affogatos (espresso with a generous scope of vanilla nitro ice cream) and nitrochinos (the same ingredients, but blended up in a drink with a frappachino-like consistency), and both are delectable, especially when you can't decide between ice cream and coffee.
The new sandwich menu is everything I hoped for and more! So far we've tried the turkey and Gouda thanksgiving-inspired sandwich and the pulled pork. Both were delicious and the bread was very fresh and so yummy. We also loved the toast du jour menu- a quick, fun and delicious little addition to round out the menu. The side salad that comes with your sandwich (chips are also available as another option) is amazing, far beyond the caliber of your average side salad- the pickled red onions were a great touch, too! I'm looking forward to trying the local charcuterie board, although I do wish the almonds were marcona (hey, if I'm going to drop money on a charcuterie board, I want marcona almonds, don't judge me )
I'm not certain about which or how many of their ingredients are organic or local, but the quality of everything we've ever eaten here has been exceptionally high.
The new drink menu is also spot on. This is the only place in Moab you can buy rosé by the glass! The beer selection is well-curated and has lots of local favorites. A great selection of San Pellegrino sodas (even prickly pear flavor!), juice, kombucha, etc is also available. Water is self-serve, and the cups provided are glass, which (while not a big deal either way) is my personal preference over plastic is a really nice touch.
While there is no dedicated kids menu, the grill cheese du jour makes an excellent kid option, as do the toasts, and Garage Co kitchen staff is super accommodating in making or substituting whatever you need for your kids.
The bathrooms are very clean, but be aware that they aren't quite big enough to change a baby in. There is some space near the bathrooms, removed from the dining and food areas, where you can change a diaper without feeling rude or gross- just remember to bring something to put down on the floor. Most of the restaurants in Moab don't have changing tables, so this really shouldn't effect your decision to eat here.
The owners are a super sweet young couple, who have worked hard to turn this amazing space into a reality. They work side by side with their staff to provide a very high level of excellent service that is rare in Moab.
We can't recommend this place enough, and are so excited to watch it grow! Looking forward to checking out the bar area, which is in a separate back room, with such cool art and decor and even a comfy lounge area. read more
