First, it is pretty cute inside. A typical diner style setting. Very friendly staff here. My server was friendly and had a big smile on her face. The food was average. You can't expect anything exceptional with eggs and sausage but I also had a biscuit and gravy and the biscuit was incredibly dry. The gravy wasn't enough to balance out how dry the biscuit was. I still enjoyed my time here, but given that the food was very average, I am giving it an average rating to match.

Moanb Diner is our favorite place to stop when in town, breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even just ice cream to beat the heat. We've liked everything we've tried. My favorite is the fall seasonal soup Chicken Almondine, which is creamy, bright with almond and orange notes, and has fresh veggies. I've gone home and replicated it but it just hits different when you've been hiking in the cold all day. The service is always friendly and fairly quick, even when very busy.

Seems like a local hotspot with fun menu items like green chili and sweetwater potatoes. It had a fun 50s vibe in the decor. Food was served hot and quick. Service was super friendly and checked in frequently. I got the smothered sweetwaters, which were perfectly tender and seasoned combining two of their best items. Their milkshakes were a good texture and super great late at night.

Cute decor, like a 50's diner. For the most part, the food is pretty straightforward, but well executed. I had a grilled chicken sandwich and a garden salad, very good. My husband had the kokopelli chicken sandwich which is the one unusual item on the menu. He said it was very good. Our server was great. And the bill was very reasonable

Your average diner - with above average food. My wife got the "Red Rockers" - Ranch Chicken Sandwich. She loved how everything came together for a flavorful sandwich. I got the Smothered Green Chile Cheeseburger. This was absolutely a knife and fork burger. The Green Chile tasted great. The place was nicely decorated. My only complaint was that you had to go outside to enter the bathroom.

Really great classic little dinner in downtown Moab. Stopped in here on a road trip. Great ambience classic dinner feel. I only stopped in here for the ice cream which was delicious and totally worth. We had the strawberry malt, huckleberry malt and a chocolate sundae... all them were excellent very well made. Overall good spot for breakfast in Moab. Came here looking for pancakes, and right away we were seated. Ordered their eggs, hash browns and pancakes. The pancake syrup tasted artificial, and not real maple syrup, which made the flavor just okay. Otherwise the food was good and serving was solid.

Very quick service and delicious food. Recommend a visit. Only downside of this place is they only have one bathroom stall for men and women on outside of restaurant. So if you have to poo, do it somewhere else. read more

We were here at around 6 am to fuel up before a long day in Arches. Service was great and the food came very quickly. My breakfast burrito was awesome. My boyfriend said his biscuits and gravy were OK but the gravy seemed watered down--his words were, "like they used 1% milk instead of whole." read more

Good food, but it was crazy busy. There wasn't any space for us to wait to be seated, so we were awkwardly sandwiched by the door areas. The servers were all sprinting around the whole time, and didn't have time to clean up the food bomb that must have gone off by several kids before us, which left for a wiped off table but a huge mess of fries etc. on the floor. The food was pretty standard diner food. Good variety, but I probably wouldn't go again. read more

Great place to grab a bite to eat while in Moab. Even though we stopped in just for some delicious Blue Bunny ice cream (Bunny tracks is the best) it was really hard not to go ahead and order some of the great looking and awesome smelling burgers that were being delivered to other customers, maybe tomorrow? read more

The food will not blow your mind, but wasn't bad compared to other options in Moab. They were very accommodating with alterations to menu items and it was a very kid friendly place. We had a 4 year old, a 2 year old and an infant and they were very accommodating. I had a burger with Swiss, mushrooms and some some other toppings along with an Cookies and cream milkshake. After a long day of hiking it hit the spot! One complaint, is that the Mac and cheese was definitely Kraft. read more

Service was good and our sandwiches were alright. But fries! How do you f#ck that up. They tasted either reheated or undercooked. You'd think a diner would get that right. Oh well- might try the shakes or ice cream later as they're made with blue bunny. Probably should have stuck with breakfast though. I'm sure that's great. read more

We went twice, once with friends. Everyone loved it. The service was exceptional. We were especially happy to see so many locals in for lunch; not just tourists. The green chile was especially good and we'd recommend it to anyone. No particular spice to it, but very tasty, and it enhanced everything it touched. Wish they had diner meatloaf with that green chile on it! I had the open-faced beef sandwich with green chile. Yum. Wife had the burger, but green chile was on the side. Still an excellent experience. Second time, I had the beef burrito. Huge and again that fine chile. Our friend had taco salad with chicken, and it was huge, too. A LOT of people came in for the ice cream to take out. They seemed happy. Good diner food with excellent service. read more

Terrific breakfast for the whole family! Lots of breakfast food options and a breakfast side menu so you can add any extra items to your order. Huge, platter sized pancakes and some of the best biscuits and gravy ever, according to my husband. Great service. It was busy but the wait staff didn't miss a beat and looked like they enjoyed being there. Spent $25 on a a pancake, egg, and ham combo with coffee, large biscuits and gravy platter, and a kids combo with pancake, hashbrowns, and milk. Not as good coffee as The Jailhouse Cafe down the street, but much bigger portions, cheaper prices, better menu options. Definitely recommend! read more

Absolutely phenomenal food. I came in for chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and a chocolate shake. Everything was delicious! Our server was sweet, too. The place was packed but I didn't have to wait at all which was nice. Parking was a little tight, but was able to find a spot in the back. read more

My brother and I went to Moab for Easter Jeep Safari. We needed a breakfast place, and the Moab diner seemed to be about the only place in town that opened early. We tried it, and it became our "GO TO " place, decent food, above average service, and GOOD prices. The portions were actually a bit big for me. This is the first place in years that I found "hot roast beef sandwiches", and they were excellent. The cook knows how to do roast beef, and the gravy was best beef gravy in years. Real mashed taters. The staff hustled, and was very friendly. It is after all a "DINER", not Del Monico's We will hit it again in the future. read more

We went twice during our overnight stay in Moab: Once for dinner the night we arrived, and then back for a milkshake the next day. Food was great, and our server was very personable when we dined in. I would've rated 5 stars, but stopping at the car shop section the next day for a milkshake and iced tea for the road took forever. In fact we had to go inside and order because no one ever came out. We would still go back in a heartbeat! read more

Having been off Road Ing in Moab five times now and we usually stay for days each time, we recommend this restaurant above all others by far! The food is always really good, the staff is very friendly and very quick and helpful, and it is definitely the best priced restaurant in town. The fajita chicken taco salads were great. The french fries are the best in town, sandwiches are great. The last night we were there it was a very cold winter day and they had chicken soup which was by far the best we've ever had. Everybody asked for another bowl! The other restaurants in town are good, not great, good. But so much more expensive! And when you've been out on the trails all day, you just want good fast service with excellent hot food. Well done! read more

A friend and I came here while visiting Moab for the week. The price is amazingly cheap compared to everything else in Moab-- we came here from NYC and were expecting cheap food, but Moab Diner is the only place without NYC prices! We came for breakfast and for dinner, multiple times that week. I had the cheeseburger, sweetwater skillet, and the french toast and really enjoyed everything. It can be busy but the wait was never very long. The waitresses are super friendly and move you in and out at the speed of light. It's one of the best places for service-- other places in Moab move super slowly! Definitely recommend this place. Comfort diner food (albeit a small menu) and moves you in and out quickly at a really good price. read more

History

Established in 1992.

In the early 1960s, Moab Diner was opened under the name of Poor Boy Drive-Inn and was a popular burger joint for Moab residents for many years. As the pictures prove, Poor Boy Drive-Inn stood by its name offering Moab residents a great deal for .29 cent hamburgers. Poor Boy was a happening place with full service car hops to meet the needs of those Friday and Saturday night cruisers on Main Street of Moab. To this day, many nostalgic stories are told by long term residents who were once high school sweethearts gathering at the local hang out enjoying the fun times and great food of the Poor Boy Drive-Inn. In the late 70s, the business changed hands and became Grand Ice Cream Parlor. The enclosure of the Drive-Inn turned the establishment into a full service restaurant and the addition of a full service Ice Cream counter which still stands today. Though the roller skates and drive-in stalls were gone, the Parlor changed its menu and began serving breakfast and established itself as

Worked here for a couple months when I was 17 and then they hired a new manager. He's a complete pedophile and told me if I got too close to him while I was scooping ice cream that he would get excited...sometimes I would ask him if he wanted to see a funny meme on my phone and he would say if it's you naked, I won't think that it's funny. I went on vacation and when I returned, he was the one who they let fire me with no explanation. Sometimes I still think about if I should sue them for letting a literal pedophile fire me. Disgusting. I'll never forget this and he had bad hygiene. read more

The dishes I tasted today were nothing special, the Croquetas were basically normal, the Gazpacho with too much vinegar. The service is not good as well. However the Tinto de Verano and Arroz con Leche were perfect, delicious. As a general comment, I expected to find a piece of Spain in Chicago but the restaurant reminded me more to Mexico than to Spain (None of the personnel I found were from Spain), even the culture of inviting a chupito after the lunch is missing, and I paid 6 $ for a little Crema de Orujo. read more

Went here for a late dinner after a long day's hike. It wasn't bad but it was t amazing either. Average middle of nowhere diner food. We got big kid grilled cheese and fries and Mac n cheese. The Mac n cheese is just Kraft which was incredibly disappointing. It hit the spot though, and was reasonably priced. I'd say the best part was the ice cream!
