I've been coming to the MoBar for a few months now and all I can say is that it is hands down my favorite bar in Miami! From the moment you arrive valet welcomes you with a smile and the bellman always hold the door open for you. The drinks are always going above and beyond my expectations. Jose never ceases to amaze me not only does he make amazing drinks but the way he makes the drinks feel theatrical! It's like watching a live performance! The support staff and other bartenders always have a warm welcoming smile! The food is also great my favorite is short rib tostones as a started with the burger. From time to time I enjoy smoking a nice cigar and luckily they have a nice selection and a balcony with a stunning view of the Miami skyline where I go and enjoy my cigar alongside my drink! I was staying at the Mandarin Oriental this past weekend when I was visiting Miami, and the MO Bar made my entire trip infinitely better. This hotel bar is beautiful and has a very chill and sophisticated atmosphere. They often have live music as well. I enjoyed this bar so much that I came here two nights in a row. The first night, my friend and I sat at the bar. We came for during happy hour, which is Monday-Friday 5-8pm. You get 3 drinks for $25 which is an excellent deal. Their drinks are typically ~$15 and up, but they're still worth it. I first tried the New York Sour - whiskey, lemon, simple syrup, egg white, red white float. I'm normally not a whiskey type of girl, but I decided to try this intriguing combination of ingredients. Watching the bartenders freshly crack the egg whites into your drinks was such an experience! The touch of red wine at the end is nice too. I enjoyed this drink so much that I got another. I also tried the Elderflower Spritz - St. Germain, sparkling wine, club soda. I'm a fan of St. Germain so I really wanted to try this. This drink was delicious as well, but I think I was spoiled by the New York Sour. Alejandro makes amazing drinks! Steven, the manager, is excellent too. On my second night, I had a New York Sour and an Old Fashioned. I have nothing negative to say about this bar. Entering MO was like checking in for a micro-staycation. Just across the bridge on Brickell Key, MO is a perfect walk away for Brickellistas and just what my worn out mind needed on a Friday night after a long week. Happy hour drinks were $8 and bites were $5. For drinks, I had the Social Punch, which I'd get again, and the John Collins, which I wouldn't since it was completely bare in presentation. After all, in such a beautiful setting with the Brickell skyline as a backdrop for the bar, I want my drink to look as nice as it tastes. Drinks come with complimentary crackers and olives to nibble on, but for something more substantial, I'd go for the tostones slider, spicy tuna cone, and/or salmon cone. Live music started around 8:30pm, featuring a 2-man band that sounded incredibly like a full ensemble. Looking forward to coming back next time I need a micro-staycation. read more

My wife and I love the Mo Bar in Las Vegas so we had to try this one. It's a different feel in that it has a Latin Salsa type music vibe which was a little sleepy for our tastes but the bar is very classy and signifies what you come to expect from a first-class organization like the Mandarin Oriental. Jose was a great bartender. He has some flair skills and was getting his jam going without missing the attention that is needed on these types of drinks they make there. My wife had a glass of Prosecco and I had a Laguna Chardonnay. We only stayed for 30 minutes but we would definitely recommend it to people who want a cool vibe in Brickell. read more

This is a really cool little place out in the Brickell area. At first we were looking for it because on yelp it says it has a really cool view which i would have to say that it does not to mention some really chill music performed by a live band. They play all the Spanish classics like Bessame...oh you know for that romantic vibe. We tried a few different small plates; beef sliders, crispy calamari, shrimp cocktail and ended the meal with the chocolate mousse. The chocolate mousse was definitely a favorite of the foods. We did have to send our sliders back bc they were burnt to a crisp but a fresh plate with non-charred sliders was promptly re-made and brought out and they were pretty good. They had a lounge singing group with latin inspired songs with a hint of jazz that included drums; bongos; acoustic guitar, marachas and even a trumpet. Inside the Mandarin Hotel. I was disappointed there were only 3 high top tables to sit outside. The happy hour is a great deal and the $5 bites were amazing! At times most places offer dips and fried food .....these apps were SO good. We had the salmon cone, taco and short rib sliders. The apps were large enough I felt like I had a dinner. Very modern, Mandarin Oriental-like interior design. Certainly, a more upscale, modern hotel bar. Price: exactly what you expect from the Mandarin Oriental, like nearly 20 for each drink. Unless you go for the social/happy hour. Service: Friendly. I was surprised that they took care of a drunken guy who seemed to be harassing an interracial couple next to him. I barely noticed the disturbance cause he was escorted away before I could register what was happening. Quality: Quite an interesting Gin & Tonic-sesame oil? I enjoyed it. My boyfriend and sister got other whiskey based drinks that they seemed to enjoy. I would go back for the music and if I were staying at the hotel. The very tall large lobby is a great setting and the glass windows looking onto downtown Miami makes this a very attractive place to go. The food is pretty good too -- the sushi handrolls are particularly delicious and are my favorite -- and if you don't like what's on the bar bites menu you can always order food from La Mar. Anyone who loves to whine constantly about bad service in Miami (we all know these people) clearly has never been to the Mandarin Oriental, and more specifically, its lovely little lobby lounge known as MO. Mentions of service are often noticeably absent in my reviews, as it's only the truly awful or truly exceptional instances that capture my attention. For MO, score one in the "truly exceptional" category. The attention to detail here is on a similar level to what would be expected in a posh London lounge. Not only are the servers friendly, yet professional and swift, during happy hour we noticed the bar manager *constantly* working the room, keeping customers happy, and adjusting the blinds just so, as to keep pace with the setting sun and ensure the ideal balance of natural light and shade. The atmosphere couldn't be better, with downtown Miami and Brickell perfectly framing the westward terminus of south Biscayne Bay. The moment I sat and ordered a drink, I felt like a million bucks. Speaking of the bucks, MO isn't "cheap" during regular hours - but thankfully, it offers up a generous happy hour from 5-8PM, Monday to Friday. $25 nets 3 of the drinks on the happy hour menu. Some places skimp with their happy hour menu in terms of quality and/or interesting cocktails, but I'm pleased to report that here, a decent variety of well-done classic cocktails are on offer. For example, consider the Negroni, Blood & Sand, Old Fashioned, and an excellent take on a whiskey sour with a red wine float known as the "New York Sour." I started out with another classic option, the French 75, an old New Orleans favorite. It's a refreshing, simple cocktail of gin, lemon, sparkling wine and syrup. I have to say, I wasn't expecting too much out of this one beyond sheer refreshment, but it turned out to be the tastiest French 75 I've ever had....including the one at the namesake New Orleans bar Arnaud's French 75 - but that's another story for another review. MO nailed it, with just the right balance of acidity, fizz and sweetness. Moving on to the New York Sour and the Blood and Sand, I found a similar level of craft. Someone here knows what he/she is doing. Now, $25 for 3 cocktails, I like the price, but I think that the quantity is a little awkward if you're just a couple on a date stopping in for a quick drink or two. It means that someone has to take one for the team and drink two while the other is left with one. This is perfect for a party of three, of course, or if you'll be there for a long enough time to make it through 3 cocktails apiece, making it 6 for $50. For a quick 20 minute stop in, though, it could be a little awkward, so keep that in mind. That said, I'd be glad to plant my roots here for a couple hours and soldier my way through 3 drinks. It should also be said that this IS Brickell Key, so parking is bound to be costly. Parking on the island itself is limited to A) a very expensive garage or B) expensive valet. I intensely dislike valet parking in all its forms anyway, so leave it to me to find a better option. If you'll be there for happy hour, park on Brickell Bay Drive on the other side of the bridge. At that time, finding a spot shouldn't be an impossibility. Then, just walk across the bridge to the Mandarin Oriental - no big deal. I was excited to have found this place - I don't feel that many locals would know about it, as it's ensconced within a hotel on an island. For that kind of quality and atmosphere, however, and at happy hour prices to boot, I consider it well worth checking out. read more

My friend ordered bitter beer but couldn't have it because the bar was out of bitter beer. There are no happy hour specials. The bar is fantastic if you live a nice view with good service. This is a perfect bar for its hotel guests, anyone with an expense account and anyone who may prefer drinking liquor and mixed drinks over beer. Parking is valet. We thought we'd save in parking by passing at the garage, but for hours turned out to be $24. Yikes! In my book, quite the pricey night for just two drinks and there are better hotel bars in town with nicer happy hours. You decide. read more

Stopped by MO Bar for Happy Hour on Friday before having an early dinner at Azul. For snacks I ordered the the Salmon Cone and Tostone Slider, they also provided a bowl of Wasabi Peas. As drinks I tried both the Blood & Sand and Vodka Gimlet. Quality First I have to say that I appreciate that they provide Wasabi Peas a different and delicious treat to snack on while you have a drink. All the snacks we had were off the Happy Hour menu so they were small, but just what you needed. The Salmon Cone was basically an extended sushi roll, which was just ok. I really liked the Tostone Slider, which had a good sized slab of short ribs and queso fresco between to small tostones. Its just a few bites, but a nice treat. I ordered the Blood & Sand, which was Scotch, Cherry Heering, Sweet Vermouth, and Orange, but it was too much for me and I ended up trading with my girlfriend for her Vodka Gimlet, which was simple but delicious. Quantity The drinks were of good size, but each time they came out in a different type of glass which I found weird. The food was very small, so they are appropriately titled bites. Value For Happy Hour they have a special menu with a good assortment of drinks for $8 and some small snacks for $5. It is a great deal considering the great ambiance and views, but it would be a bit harder to convince to come when things were full price. Ambiance MO Bar is located right off the lobby in the Mandarin Oriental on Brickell Key. The bar itself flows seamlessly with the tone and flavor of the rest of the hotel. The bar is the center point with two large windows to the water and views of Brickell itself. Around the bar are a bunch of small tables with cushioned chairs for small parties. It is a bit awkward as it does get busy and people end up moving chairs around in odd positions. I also felt like the chairs are not the best for taller folks because they were low to the grown and left my legs sore. Off the left side of the bar is a small outdoor area for less obstructed views of the city. There is also a stage for live music, but it looked like it was starting right after happy hour so I did not see the performance. I would expect the music to follow the theme of when I was there however of a hip lounge mixing the culture of Miami and folk rock. Crowd The crowd was a clear mix of visitors vacationing in Miami and staying at the hotel and businesspeople who likely work in Brickell or downtown and know the happy hour deals. Everyone there seemed to be having a good time, but there were definitely families there with young children so a tantrum or two can be expected. Service Absolutely tremendous service. Even though we were sitting at a table and not at the bar, our hostess was incredible and made sure to make constant rounds. She immediately noticed that we switched drinks and offered to make something different, but we explained it was fine we just liked the other persons drink more. The manager also stopped by to check on us. I did not expect such attention for a simple Happy Hour. Parking So I don't have much insight into Brickell Key, but it seemed to me to be unlikely to have any easy parking. The valet for the hotel is a bit pricey so we just took an Uber. I assume if the weather was cool you could also make the short walk from Brickell, but a car seemed like a better option. Extra MO Bar is a surprisingly cheap Happy Hour for the overall experience. It is nice views, a laid back vibes, and exceptional service. The biggest issue it is a bit out of the way, but if you are visiting one of the restaurants in the hotel definitely come early for a pre-meal cocktail. read more

This place is a hidden gem in Brickell, as I don't think many of the locals in this area think to go to hotel bars (unlike South Beach). Living on Brickell Key though, we walk over to the Mandarin Oriental for MO Bar's happy hour on a pretty regular basis. The decor and atmosphere are nice, and the view across the water to Brickell is beautiful. (There is even a small patio area if you want to sit outside, though it doesn't seem to be open very often.) What really sets this bar apart though are the handcrafted drinks. They do excellent versions of classic drinks, and put their own spin on others. Their moscow mule is one of my favorites. Yes the drinks are pricey, but trust me, they pack a punch. Plus, they now have happy hour M-F from 5-8pm where about a dozen of their cocktails are 3 for $28, which really is a great value (I'd be paying at least $30 for five or six beers elsewhere for happy hour, which would be about the same amount of alcohol but way less tasty.) Service is excellent, which should go without saying. However, I'm saying it anyway, because in addition to being extremely skilled bartenders, Kris and Eric are always very friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a packed bar with lots going on, you might want to look elsewhere, but if you're looking for a relaxed place with a gorgeous atmosphere and excellent drinks, this place fits the bill. Decided to stop in here a while back for some drinks when I heard they had live jazz. Very hard to find here in Miami. Beautiful bar in the lobby area of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Service and drinks were good and the music provided a very mellow ambiance. They have a good menu as well although I didn't try it.
