King Cut Sirloin
Lena M.

I love anything by the Lindsey Food Group. Last week my mom was craving steak. I thought it'd be fun to stop somewhere nearby for lunch. It's so great that this steak house has lunch and dinner hours. We walked over, but there is a Pulse stop nearby and free street parking in surrounding areas. We loved our food so much we went back the following week for dinner. Our first visit was a Monday afternoon. We shared the King Cut Sirloin with the mac and cheese side and a kale + romaine caesar. We were served pretty quickly because we were the only people there for lunch. The steak was nice, the mac was the real star of the show. I'm wary of ordering mac out, but this was incredible and filled with great flavor. The caesar was a nice way to get our greens in. We adored the lemon bliss cake as a dessert, it was HUGE. We came back last night (Monday dinner) to try the famous filet flight. It was incredible. It comes with three different styles of steak (blue cheese, crab, parm potatoes) and a side (we got collard greens). I'm drooling writing about this entree. You HAVE to order this dish, it's so good and perfect to share with someone. We got the chocolate cake for dessert and did not like it. Do note that while we were served quickly at lunch, there seemed to be only one server for six tables at dinner so the service got really slow at the end. There is a lot of seating options here and it's an interesting design. Be mindful that there is a 20% tip added automatically. The food is good though and that's all that really matters. I highly recommend getting the filet flight.

Came here on a weekday night and it wasn't too crowded. We were greeted by friendly waiter. When I was browsing the menu I thought the "modern chophouse" name was super fitting. It was creative and in my opinion way more fun than your typical boring steakhouse. The vibes here were laid back, more on the side of fast causal than fancy. Unfortunately I wasn't the hungriest so I ordered two smaller plates. The seared ahi tuna and lobster Mac and cheese is what I went with. I was surprised by the amount of lobster in the Mac and cheese it came with. Creamy and tasty! The seared ahi tuna was also super fresh.

Amazing steak house! Steak was cooked perfectly and the seasoning and char was great. The dining room was inviting with ambient lighting. The waiter and staff were knowledgeable, however they did not check in with us as much as I would like, maybe they are short staffed but we did wait a bit for the check and water refills. The six sense merlot was great paired with the steaks and overall would recommend this restaurant just because the food was delicious.

Went to Richmond for a conference and had dinner at this steak place. It's very casual comfortable place with a big bar seating and lots of table. The steak is well done and it melts in your mouth. I ordered the 7 oz filet steak and it was so good with fries and a side of salad. The wait staff is also very friendly and attentive

ML is a nice spot for special occasions and when you're craving steak. We've visited a couple times and have enjoyed our meals for the most part. The restaurant is intimate and dimly lit. The service has just been alright, we have felt a bit disregarded. The drinks were really good. The food is all flavorful and well seasoned and it would all be a 10/10 if it were served warmer. Both times we've been here most of our food has been served at room temperature. They've been hit or miss on cooking to the correct temp too. Nevertheless, it is still enjoyable. They have a unique steak flight entree where you can try 3 filets in 3 different ways. The truffled lobster mac & cheese was super decadent and a must try in my opinion. The beast burger was very juicy. The whistlepig smoked maple old fashioned was the best my partner has ever had. They take reservations through Tock but it has been pretty open when we've gone.

We accidentally made reservations on the wrong day. I called to say we're running late and that's how I found out. Without a doubt they said they could still accommodate us. I got charged a cancellation fee and the manager refunded me my cancellation fee because I stressed to him that I accidentally booked the wrong day. They were so nice and so understanding and overall made our experience the best experience ever! The chef and the employees were very professional and overall great food! Thank you so much for making this the best dinner for my father in law

Great experience. Came here after a gala for some dinner and date night ! The land and seafood burger was out of this world. The cauliflower had a divine basil sauce. We didn't have a reservation and were able to be accommodated 1 hour before closing. Our waitress was great. The spot is also really cute. I'd definitely come back again to try that Mac and cheese of theirs. 1 hour before closing and they ran out but just another reason to come back! Shout out to the Lindsey food group! Heard they own a bunch of spots around the city I have so also check out more of yall spots

Rib Eye

Some of recently had a business dinner here... We selected this restaurant based on the good reviews we read online. The day we went it was dead; in fact, we were the only table sat for well over an hour. The service we got from our server was very friendly and nice, but her training was slightly lacking... For instance, I asked how the steaks were prepared and she wasn't aware. It was fine though, not a big deal, I blame management, not her. Overall, no issues with service, as she was sincerely interested in providing the best service she could. Their menu looked pretty nice, it offered a decent selection of steaks and many other items, including fried chicken. Their side dishes were also rather appealing. One member of our party got a rib eye and he said it was outstanding! I got the filet and it was loaded with gristle, not what I'd expect from a steakhouse. Interesting that their steaks came with steak sauce, something nice steakhouses will never offer, but some do make a special/unique sauce and I would assume that is what this was. It was nice and actually helped with my filet. The crab cake that I got as an accompaniment with the steak was really good though. Their spinach side dish was great, it was perfectly prepared. Their apple dessert was really good... served with ice cream, it was a nice finish to the meal. Wine list was pretty bad... the syrah I selected said it was a 2010 on the menu, but that's not the vintage we got, and it tasted like water. For a steakhouse, it didn't have the wine I'd expect, the quality of meat I'd expect, not the trained staff I'd expect. I heard this was part of the same chain as Lillie Pearl, yet it is vastly different from that restaurant in many ways.

We had this location on our list to try for a while. We went down on a week night for dinner. Parking is a challenge. We paid to park in the lot across the street and it was pricey. There may be some free parking but I did not see it or find any open spots on the street. The place was fairly empty when we went in and we got seating fairly quickly... After that the service fell off... after about 20 min the manager came over and said there was confusion over who had our table.. and she would take over. There were only 4 tables with people.. so not sure about the confusion part. The steak that we both had was very good and high quality. I dont mind paying high dollar for good food and service but at the prices that are there... you need both. Hopefully they get things worked out there because the steak was really good!

Filet flight

Plus one for being able to get a reservation short notice. There's also ample parking which is great especially in downtown RIC. The filet flight was a good option for me because I got to try a bit of everything. Get the steak with lump crab - it's decadent and the perfect balance. Unfortunately, I was expecting more of a kitchen forward experience and it felt as if they were defrosting things in the back kitchen: Not sure if this place is new but since it came up as an alternate to Lillie Pearl I had super high expectations and was kind of let down. The bao bun appetizer came out with hard bao. We had to send it back. They were out of the lemon cake we wanted for dessert. Also 20% automatic gratuity for a subpar dining experience is kind of disheartening. I would come back if the quality wasn't f the food was more substantial.

ML Steak is one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. We ordered the filet medallion flight and each of the filets were well-seasoned - the dish is enough to feed two (along with a side and appetizer). The service was great, they were attentive and knowledge of the menu. It is located in the heart of downtown Richmond so be prepared to look for city parking. However, we went on a Saturday and noticed there were a lot of street parking spots available. I'd recommend ML Steak and plan to come back again soon.

A few months back, I visited the Chesterfield location. I noticed the menus vary a bit, but I thought that was fine since there are plenty of tasty options. The food was great, and our waitress was really sweet--she even treated us to a complimentary glass of champagne since we were celebrating a birthday! All in all, I would definitely return. I had a great time.

We ordered sangria and the table red wine and both were delicious. The sangria rioja is a touch on the sweeter side, which I personally don't mind, but just be aware if that is not your thing! It did taste better once it was a little bit diluted. The rice dish (arroz meloso) was one of their brunch specials and it was FANTASTIC! It has shrimp, chorizo, and chicken, and the rice was cooked and flavored to perfection. It was like a mini paella and the portion was huge. Definitely big enough to share for two people! I even told the waitress they need to add this to their menu permanently and not just as a special. We also ordered the patatas bravas (the crispy potatoes with spicy sauce), and it quite literally transported me back to my time when I lived in Spain. It came with a side of garlic aioli which was divine...creamy, garlicky (but not TOO garlicky), and seasoned well. the red sauce on the potatoes was delicious and spicy, so beware if you are not fan of spicy food. We had a little mishap with another tapa (the pan iberico, which they have listed as a flatbread) which I unfortunately did not take a picture of and did not care for at all. They gave us the vegetarian version by mistake, but our waitress was awesome and she recognized the mistake right as it came to our table. We got the right one and it wasn't bad, but definitely wouldn't order again. That would be the only thing I would avoid from the menu, as it's not traditionally Spanish. It was like a mini pizza with chorizo and had manchego melted on top. I'm sure a lot of people would like it, but it just didn't make much sense to me! Atmosphere is warm and inviting, and I can't wait to go back for a wine tasting and more tapas. Try them out :)

He had a huge vault of songs... everything I asked for, he had. Some of which are not as popular as others. AND the best part, he could change the pitch to accommodate my vocal range. Some of my favorite songs are a bit too high, and I had to ask for two of them to be brought down 1/2 step. Songs ranged from 50s to current. Enjoyable singers all around and everyone was fun to watch. I got a glass of their tempranillo, which was perfection. Full bodied, super dry and delicious. I also got a pizza, which is kind of a personal size. Very thin. Good, but not great. Decor is nice. Newly renovated with mostly tables all on the same level, but also a couch area next to the TV, and about three bar seats. Plenty of room to spread out. The only thing keeping Gramophone from 5 stars is the lack of food options. Hope they're able to add some simple staples like burgers and fries or salads. Convenient location right on the corner of Forest Hill and Westover Hills Blvd. I'll definitely come back for karaoke and wine!

Like too many restaurants in the Scott's Addition area, this is seafood cooked without finesse and then absolutely brutalized with absurd amounts of palate fatiguing, brash, loud flavors. Every item on the menu endeavors to conceal mediocrity in the quality and handling of the ingredients with explosive, overwhelming additives meant to shock you into submission. Things like black garlic and chili oil, raw garlic, sesame seed oil, and punishing heat are inescapable on the menu, which really says to me loud and clear "we do not understand the appeal of seafood, and might have a fundamental misunderstanding about good food in general." I don't exaggerate when I say these dishes would be improved (setting aside things like inability to properly cook octopus) by scaling back the flavors to 5-10% the loudness level they are currently at, to let the ingredients speak, and to make the dining experience less of a punishing marathon with no relief. I have had much subtler and more skillfully balanced dishes at Indian and Thai restaurants, cuisines known for strong flavor profiles. I'm through listening to these Richmond restaurants trying to excuse simply bad food by claiming "that's the nature of the cuisine." In this case, Lillian claims that dishes characterized by these cacophonous competing flavors is "South American." No it isn't - the person conceptualizing the dishes is just a bad chef who doesn't know what he's doing, and at the prices Lillian charges, that's inexcusable. Drowning every dish in flavors that overwhelm the palate is not a way to respect your ingredients or your diner, and only communicates youth and insecurity. Anyone who's eaten widely and knows their ingredients will rightly feel assaulted and insulted by this overpriced, unskilled fare. To anyone who decides to go anyway: Good luck with the digestive distress, and with the taste that will still be left over in your mouth the next morning, no matter how much you brush your teeth.
