Stopped here while house hunting in Columbia SC area.Good food. Sidewalk seating and dog friendly. The best thing happened there, I left my purse with literally all my credit cards,ID, & cash, and it was turned in and held for me to pick up. Not one thing missing. We decided to give this another shot after noticing the menu was changed. It has been over a year since our last visit. This was on a Tuesday which turned out to be a big mistake. We were quickly greeted by the deafening sounds of a guy reading trivia questions for Trivia Night. It was so loud you couldn't hear the person next to you or even the waitress. It was this loud for the entire meal. We complained but nothing was done to lower the volume. You could even hear the speaker outside of the restaurant. The food was overpriced and decent. I had salmon which was tasty. My wife had popcorn shrimp which was okay. The veggie was good according to my child. We ordered the fried pickles which were not sliced, but we instead quartered like you get our of a jar. Bad decision because the pickle holds in the heat much more this way. We will never return. I can't believe this trashy place can survive in the Town Center. I miss the Butcher Shop restaurant. read more

Was not very happy at all with lunch order. Had to request that extra plates and napkins be brought out with the onion rings. The breaded fish sandwich was on a very cold hoagie roll. The fish was only ok, no seasoning, the fries were pale and undercooked, the tea tasted stale. The restaurant only had three tables occupied, on a Saturday, which should have served as a red flag. Only ordered the onion rings to go so that's all I can review. Atmosphere was nice and I noticed they have karaoke on Saturday(s?) with a DJ which sounds fun. They also have trivia, like actual teams with trivia nights. Cute little place to go with friends. They were following Covid guidelines and had masks. I did notice the female bartender used her bare hands to grab lemons and stick them in two drinks for a pair of gentlemen she was serving at the bar. They didn't care but that's something that just grosses me out completely. The onion rings were only $6.55 for a basket which are a pretty good deal considering how many they give. They were good and really fresh. They had a light sprinkle of seasoning salt, I don't like seasoning salt so I'd prefer just salt, but then some were covered in it completely. They definitely need a sauce. Throw some ranch or a remoulade sauce in there or something. I'd like them cut a little thinner as well. The batter is thicker and has that heavy greasy feel. MJs is a fantastic addition to Northeast Columbia! I took my family there for dinner because we heard great things about it from our friends who live in Lake Carolina, and they were spot on. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and shown to our table. The atmosphere is very welcoming and there are multiple TVs for sports viewing. We ordered the chicken quesadilla to start off with and it was served quickly. Everything was so fresh! For our dinner we had the grilled Chicken salad, Rueben with grilled veggie kabobs, grilled Teri-hot wings and the kids cheeseburger and fries. The wings were dynamite- the salad was fresh and the Reuben was killer. I highly recommend stopping in and trying it out. The beer selection was very good as well. read more

Arrived a bit early to watch the playoffs and to my surprise not busy at all. Plenty of room, easy to watch the game, volume turned up as well. Had popcorn shrimp, chicken bites and fried pickles to start. All hot and delicious. Ordered Philly steak and hot maple bacon wings. Both were really good. Only thing for me was the wings. Excellent service and very courteous. If only the maple flavor was stronger in the sauce I would've given five stars. Other than that, we will be coming here all the mor often. read more

Maybe this is a one off but there is only one server on a Saturday afternoon. It's been over an hour and we still don't have our food. My family just moved into Town Center Apartments, across from MJ's grill. After three full days of moving we needed food. Nothing with a drive-through! I don't think I could take anymore grease. Thank God for MJ's grill, located in walking distance of our apartment. I ordered the ribs and grilled wings combo-Honey Hot. My kids the Philly cheesesteak with sweet potato fries, hotdog and mixed fruit bowl, macaroni and cheese and fries. My husband has the popcorn shrimp and we split the fried green beans. There no pictures because we devoured the food. The green beans we crunchy and the sauce that comes with them has a little hint of smokiness that is perfect. The ribs were tender, slight kick of heat to the bar-b-que sauce but the grilled wings were the star of my plate! Grilled to perfection, perfectly done, non fatty, good sized wings! Whoever MJ is or the person working the grill; you did that! And the atmosphere--neighborhood bar! There was a gentleman sitting nursing a drink chatting it up with the young bartender. The were super friendly. This seems to be the kind of place you can kick back afterwork and have a drink or, bring your family for a good meal with, people who I assume will fast become friends! Called in an order at 6pm. I was told it would be 15-20 it took 37 minutes. Ordered the steak philly. Part of the bread was burnt and not much meat. My husband got a burger and said it was just okay. RUDE STAFF! I ordered Togo and the lady at first was nice. When I go to pay for my food she didn't give me a price or receipt. I handed her $20 she then placed my change on the counter. I don't know about y'all but when I hand anyone money I expect them to hand it back to me the same way! I had to ask her for a receipt because when I asked her how much was my food she had an attitude and yells at me as if she gave me the price. Called ahead and was told that there would be no wait. When we arrived there was a few people otherwise it was pretty quiet. Our server Michael came and quickly brought our drinks out and took down our orders. He brought our appetizer and took our orders. Food was great, nothing I can complain about. We had came late and we missed the roll call for food at 940 and weren't able to place an order, but our server went above and beyond to make the desert for us. This restaurant is new in Lake Carolina and it is awesome! Menu is not overwhelming like some places. They offer a nice selection of sandwiches, salads and specials. Have eaten there 3 times since it opened and plan to try a to-go order tonight. Staff is very friendly and attentive. read more
