There were a lot of issues. It looked like whoever installed or serviced the unit didn't know what they were doing. Chill offered to repair the unit, including recharging the system, but I was concerned that it would just be a waste of money since the AC would probably fail again soon. Chill then provided a couple of reasonable estimates to replace the AC and explained the pluses/minuses of each option. Decided to go ahead with a replacement. Chill scheduled the installation a couple of days later. They arrived on time and got it done as expected. The lead tech was very friendly and explained everything he found with the old system and what he was doing with the new install. Wherever we've lived we like to support local businesses. It was a good choice with Chill.

The technician Tyler spent 1.5 hours, going up to the roof of our four floor apartment trying to find out what was wrong, and back - 3-4 times. After meticulous work, Tyler found out that it was a loose connection in the thermostat. The fee was $20 for diagnostics + level-1 labor charge of $300. I will hire JJ again for their excellent tech work and for their interactions where they are patient enough to explain / answer my questions. The fees may look high but is lower than the median price. It is important to hire qualified technicians to do such repairs even if their prices are high.

Very cool. Tyler arrived and he started systematically diagnosing our system. During the diagnosis he clearly explained what was going on and how he was going to systematically look at failures. He was also very tolerant of our inquisitive cat. Long story short - our AC is back up. He walked me through the repair costs and cautioned us about the age of our AC and furnace system - not in a salesy way but very consultative. This company is a scam. Do yourself a favor and go with another contractor you can trust who will…read morenot try to lie to you to get your business. I found this company based on all the wonderful Yelp reviews to tune up my old gas furnace- something I do every year before the winter season to ensure optimal maintenance. They came out and immediately refused to do the service citing possible asbestos tape. I asked how this was possible when the last 15 years I've gotten service and have even asked the contractors to do a visual inspection of my system. They weren't sure but said that another employee in the area can come look and give me an estimate for a new system. I thought this was shady and it turns out, I was 100% right. They came later that day and quoted me $26K for a new system not including subcontracting to get the asbestos removed (another $1500). I was told and shown pictures that there was evidence of the same tape inside the duct work. I was told I would get these pictures sent to me with along with the estimate but never received any of them. I got someone to come out and test a sample of said material for $100 which did come out positive for asbestos. However the only asbestos that presented any harm was the tape on the outside of the system. There was no asbestos inside but it was recommended that I do more expensive air testing since Perfect Star said I would not be able to use my heater without the asbestos getting released into the air. Not only was this stressful to hear right before the cold weather, but I was very concerned that over the last decade I had inadvertently put my whole families health in danger using this furnace. Meanwhile, Raymond Kinder texted me a few days later to find out if I was going to move forward with the new unit. I told him asbestos removal was my priority. His response via text was "if they remove asbestos, you will not be able to run that furnace as the gases will not be vented out properly." This was not true. After several weeks of not using my heater and exploring other options to deal with a pretend problem they created for me, I went with Air Quality Testing who charged $540 for an air test. $640 later along with having no use of my heater, I learned that there is no asbestos running through my air or ducts. Perfect Star literally lied to me in order to attempt to get me to drop nearly $30,000 on a new system. Stay away from this company! They do not deserve your business for lying to their customers.
