Many companies will promise a free assessment but when you decide not to go ahead with the repair, they charge you a fee. That is why I always clarify that first. I got a call a few hours later that the technician has been called for an emergency repair and they can come the next morning. I didn't end up using their services because my husband was able to do the fix that evening. Lucky me! But I so appreciated their timeliness in communication, reliability and politeness. Recommend! I would give Elite Rooter zero stars if I could…read more I hired this company to connect a water supply line to the refrigerator at my rental property. After the installation, the fridge started making a very loud noise whenever water was dispensed. This issue continued for about 1.5 months. Their team initially blamed the refrigerator and even claimed the noise was coming from the compressor, not from their installation. Eventually, I went to the house myself and checked behind the refrigerator. I discovered that the technician had connected the water source to the wrong inlet and had basically bypassed the refrigerator's solenoid/water inlet valve. He also bundled the main fridge pipe that was supposed to be connected to the water inlet valve and told my tenant that the pipe was useless and not needed. When Elite Rooter sent the original technician, Oscar, back to the house, I showed him the correct connector behind the fridge and asked him if he knew what it was for. He said, "No, I don't know what it is." When I told him that he should know because the job was to connect water to the refrigerator, he said he was "not supposed to know this" because he is "not an appliance technician." That response was very concerning to me, especially after they had already done the job incorrectly. I then called his manager, David Herb, and asked if he could come himself or send someone other than Oscar to fix the issue. He refused and insisted that Oscar should fix it, while also saying Oscar had not made any mistake and that I was wasting his time on the phone. When I asked Oscar to repeat to David what he had just told me inside the house, Oscar denied saying it. After David spoke privately with Oscar on the phone, Oscar left the house without notifying me. I then called David several times, texted him, and sent him a video showing the issue behind the fridge, but he did not respond. I had to call the main Elite Rooter office and explain the whole situation to the operator, asking them to send someone else and to escalate David's behavior to higher management. Only after that did David finally texted me that he was coming himself. I waited again, and when he arrived, he checked the fridge and admitted that Oscar had made a mistake in installing the pipes. David fixed the issue himself and apologized. Although the issue was finally corrected, the whole experience was extremely frustrating, unprofessional, and time-consuming. It took about 1.5 months from the original installation until they finally fixed their mistake. I had to personally diagnose the problem, wait at the house for hours, deal with a technician who denied responsibility, and deal with a manager who was dismissive and unresponsive until I escalated the issue. I do not recommend anyone work with this company.

It took two days to remove a clog. On day one, they refused to snake it, insisting on using a…read morecamera and then flushing it with high pressure. Instead of clearing the line, they pushed the clog out past a single unit, so it affected 7 units, then left for the day. When they came back, they tried to upsell me on replacing the clogged pipe for $25k. When I balked at the price, they said they gave me the wrong price, then went down to $22k, then $18k, then I said the most I could pay was $15k, and they agreed. Once they thought I was going to pay for that big job, they finally agreed to use the snake to remove the clog, which is what I called them out for in the first place. Needless to say, I will not be working with them again. FYI: The worker, Chris, was great. It's the company management I have a problem with. In the end, I got charged for using the camera, flushing, and snaking--and had to put tenants up in a hotel for the night, which could have been avoided if they had simply snaked the line as I asked them to.

The short review is this: Martin is a wizard! He sucked a 2 lb. Piece of metal out of my main line…read morewith a shop vac, saving me thousands of dollars in repair costs! The details: I called Martin after a clog removal by another company went sideways (probably the topic of a no star review in the future). The first company identified where the problem was, but also caused a spill of sewage inside the house, then quoted me $5k to dig up the pipe and really fix the problem. To no one's surprise, I wasn't happy. So I called AHJ for a second opinion, and Martin answered the call. He spent a good 20 minutes on the phone, asking me detailed questions about the problem, and explaining my options (the other company did none of that). He made no guarantees, but said he thought he could solve the problem, so I asked him to have a look. He was at my house within 3 hours. The line had two objects stuck inside, causing backups. Martin worked to jet out one of the objects out, then used a camera to inspect the entire 80 ft. length of the pipe. The second object was still there, though, and it looked like digging was the only option. However, this is where the real magic happened! The second object was about 12 ft from the clean out, and it was not budging. Martin, however, thinks outside the box. He got out a large shop vac and stuffed the hose down the line. With the help of his camera he aligned the end of the hose with the obstruction and started up the vacuum. It took a while and was not easy work, but Martin eventually pulled out a 8" long, 2 lb. solid steel spring! That's no exaggeration (How that got in there I'll never know). It was Amazing! He also documented everything with his camera and thoroughly explained everything that we could see. So, I now know all about the good, and the bad, of my main sewer line, should any future problem arise. Thank you, Martin, for the exceptional service!

Fellow Yelpers, if you're not aware of industry prices for contract work, remember we are in the age of AI. If you're handy and can at least trouble shoot and are aware of the exact work that needs to be done, whether it's car mechanical issues, electrical or plumbing projects and repairs, ask Google for industry standard prices for that specific job. Google will give you a range in costs. Bear in mind that CA (especially the Bay Area), parts and labor for any contract work will always be on the higher end of the range since cost of living here is higher than other parts of the nation, but knowing is half the battle. You don't want to fall victim to price-gouging, or suckered into paying something completely unreasonable, so at least educate yourself on what the acceptable cost is for a specific repair in your area.

The shower spout was repaired that day. For the toilet flange, I was told it needed to be replaced & repositioned and I needed a new toilet. I was quoted $3583 and told it would take 3-4 hours to completed. Based on the scope of work, it seemed to be a reasonable estimate. When the plumber arrive the following week to do the work, it took 1.5 hours. I inquired about a reduction in price since it took less than half the time. I was told no. Not feeling comfortable with that, I reached out asking what the hourly rate was. Instead of answering my question, I was told that some plumbers are more efficient and I wouldn't be charged more if it took longer etc etc. I was given an option to discuss the details of the estimate via email. I then received a phone call about my concerns. I was told they would look at a $1088 charge and get back to me the next day. 2 days later I received a voicemail that I was overcharged and would receive a $585 refund. Still no explanation for what & no breakdown of charges. Now I wonder what else was I overcharged for? What is the hourly rate? How can the plumber that gave the estimate be so wrong about the time the work would take?
