This is the absolute best sushi place ever. I absolutely love their specialty rolls! But dont get me wrong anything from here is amazing. My boyfriend is blessed to only live five mins away so we get Mizu sushi atleast once a week and we are never disappointed. Kind of disappointed in Mizu. I saw great reviews and thought I would give it a try. I decided to order take out and this may have been where I went wrong. Some sushi places are great for dine in but not for takeout and this was one of them. The takeout was extremely small sushi. I hate small sushi. We bought a few rolls that totaled almost $70 and it certainly did not feel like we received that. The sushi was small, smushed and soggy. I'm not saying small sushi is always a bad thing (most of the time yes), but a chefs special roll that costs $15 should not the diameter of a quarter. The sushi itself (not rolls), was pretty good. I'm a huge sushi guy and have had plenty of awesome places in the capital district; this was not one of them. In my opinion, takeout is not worth it and this place is not worth it. Went back to this which my friend wanted to go to, I figure id give it another try. Went in during dinner time and there was noone in there. I had ordered the bento dinner box which comes with soup. I never got my soup til my meal was finish and the waiter came over and asked if I still wanted my soup. 2 times been here and both bad experiences. The heat felt like it was cranked up to 90 degrees and way to hot inside. The food was medicore to my taste. Ill throw in 2 stars for a neutral rating and never return. read more

Crisp and tasty. Could have used more spicy mayo. The sashimi deluxe was fresh and were sliced into decent portions. The hit was the white tuna. With 3 servers and 4 tables one would think that even a decent "I'm sorry, we are swamped" would satisfy a customer. But in those 10 minutes the 3 servers glanced at us and our table, neglected to clean the dirty table where they seated us and failed to bring us menus. Sadly, when confronted, they had the nerve to say "oh we were about to take your order but you left!" Lies! You never brought us menus!! Sadly, when confronted about serving a party that walked in AFTER us, they had the nerve to say "oh they had a reservation." For a party of 10, only TWO people arrived! But you still put place settings out for them and continued to ignore us. ...Such a shame because my husband and coworkers love this place. To the owners of the restaurant: improve your customer service. You never know who and how this will impact your frequent and/or future customers. The most awesomeee place for sushi!!! I have lost count of how many times I have eaten here....and each and every time the sushi is exceptional! I love sushi and order anywhere I am travelling, but none can compare to Mizu's sushi. The spicy Tuna is to die for! Service is amazing, the lady always greets us with a big smile and is wonderful throughout. Sashimi and Hibachi are also good. This place is a small hidden gem but you won't find such incredible sushi anywhere! Sometimes they also have 2+1 free deal on sushi. The place is always clean. Tucked at the back of a small strip mall across from Mohawk Commons where Prima pizza is also located, Mizu has a wide menu of sushi and other Japanese cuisine. Constant companion and I wanted to eat sushi but didn't want to travel too far to get it. It was a "let's sit on the deck because it''s a beautiful night" type of meal. We also had a hankering for sushi! We ordered the California Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll and Avocado Roll. All were delicious. The wasabi was very pungent and sinus-clearing! I've been here many times over the past decade or so. Pre-pandemic, the service for dining in was warm and friendly. The woman who usually waits tables -- who I believe is an owner -- has befriended my elderly parents and asks about them when I go without them. As my parents age and go out less and less, Mizu is the one restaurant they still make the effort for. The food is reliably good, and there are generous deals certain times of the week. I just got delivery from here and I'm seriously disappointed. I got a ninja roll, an order of tobiko sushi, and an avocado hand roll. The only one I'm not mad about is the avocado roll, but they're not really difficult to make. The ninja roll was six small pieces and incredibly bland, which is ridiculous seeing as it was $12. The tobiko sushi WASNT SUSHI. It was a spoonful of tobiko in a cucumber slice with scallions on top, which was disgusting. It was also only one piece. I picked this sushi restaurant solely based on proximity to my friends house and the reviews on Yelp. I live over two hours away from Albany but travel here on a regular basis to see my friends. I ordered sushi for five people and called it in. I arrived earlier than their estimated time to pick up so I waited for about five minutes. I got to speak to the girl at the front and she was so pleasant and polite! She made sure we had all of our food and everything. They even gave us a California roll and sliced oranges!! I was so in love. The sushi is spectacular! We got several rolls - veggie and fish, along with a gyoza appetizer and a (huge!!!) avocado salad. Everything was delicious and fresh. I couldn't have asked for anything more, it was absolutely superb. If I could change anything -- and this is purely a tiny detail -- I would just ask for less tobiko on my salad. It was a little much and other places don't usually add it to avocado salads, so I was a little surprised. But that's not anything that I would have known, and not something I would deduct a star for, because seriously everything else exceeded my expectations. This place is really great. The inside is cozy and has a little sushi bar. They have a large menu, with lots of sushi rolls and noodles and teriyaki. I had the most wonderful experience at Mizu sushi this past week. I had ordered from them the week before and had a great experience so I decided to go back for a sit-down meal. The hostess had the most personable attitude and was absolutely incredible from the beginning to the end of our meal. I would like to personally thank you for how lovely you made my father and my meal. Moments after we sat down we were brought complimentary spring rolls that were delicious. All of our food (an array of sushi and miso soup) was brought out extremely quickly, truly one of the fastest serving experiences I have ever had and was delicious. The miso soup is authentic and delicious, their tempura sweet potato roll is one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of trying, and my father spoke very highly of his salmon nigiri.
