Great food I had the tonketa or something along those lines which was a pork stead that was hammered and lightly breaded with crumbs served atop a skillet of not over cooked vegies with a delicious sushi appetizer the crab was mild and flakey couldn't have been better in my opinion. I was told to try the rattlesnake roll which is apparently house favorite but needless to say I became side tracked with all of the options that were available For desert we shared a fried banana and ice cream dish toped with strawberry and chocolate sauces. I couldn't have been more impressed with the resturant. But I was gona rate it 4 stars because i always think that there is something better untilI received the best service... Three strikes and you're out. We won't be back. This is the third time I've tried this place for sushi. I've had less than average sushi rolls checking each off my list of what not to try again. This time we had a very young condescending waitress who was unbelievably rude. I ordered the Alaskan roll that was warm (not a cooked roll) and has this terrible bland sauce on top. I had one bite and still was charged. The manager stands by 'you order it and don't like it, too bad'. Never in my life have I experienced such poor customer service. Spent over $100 including bar tab, and I couldn't be credited $9 for a bad dish? Not the post school celebration I had hoped for. Won't be back. read more

We did hibachi for 12- well that didn't work out. They sat us at one table and then had such issues because we were on one side and the rest of the family on the other. They gave us two different waitstaff so i was hard for them to let us pay for the dinner. Weird. My chicken teriyaki had no flavor nor did the vegetables. The salad had so MUCH dressing on it. We have been for lunch for the bento boxes ( we liked them) and we have been to hibachi before, but honestly just drive to JAPANESE PALACE in Fort Worth! I'm personally not in favor of rating places higher just because they are the "only place" in town that serves sushi. We drove in from Stephenville to try out some sushi after some friends recommended the place, and we were incredibly disappointed. It wasn't that the sushi was outright terrible, it's just that all of our rolls tasted exactly the same-bland. Both our rolls were listed as spicy (double chili peppers next to the names) and both were equally bland. I always order rolls with spicy mayo or eel sauce and they are always spicy, these rolls tasted like nothing (and I'm a baby when it comes to spicy foods, so I can only imagine what the rolls that weren't spicy must taste like). In terms of service, same thing- not terrible but not very good. Our waiter repeatedly came by to take our order without giving us any time to look over the menu, additionally he never asked us if we needed anything or offered suggestions from the menu. After we ordered he never came back to the table to check up on us, someone else brought by our order and he didn't come by until it was time for the check. The lack of service and bland food just made for an overall uneventful meal, especially considering that Miyako charges that same as good sushi restaurants in the DFW metroplex. read more

i have a client here in Granbury and travel here from Austin. Each visit I come to this restaurant. I travel all across the country and usually steer away from small towns serving sushi but I think Granbury is close enough to Dallas that the food is fresh and good quality. The staff is nice and the food consistent. My only negative comment would be is it is too dark. read more

On my one week vacay to Texas I did not expect to find myself dining at a Japanese restaurant, especially in Granbury which happens to be in the middle of nowhere. Lo and behold, here we were at Miyako on our first night in town. This place is poppin' with the locals! We had to wait about 15-20 minutes on a Saturday night. This is also one of the only spots in Granbury that is open past 10pm. I love that they have actual matcha green tea here, definitely a plus in my book. I must say that I am not a fan of their sushi rolls. One of the rolls I had was basically a shrimp tempura roll with avocado but it had a wasabi sauce and sweet sauce drizzled on top. The wasabi sauce looked like melted mint chip ice cream - it was a light pastel green. The roll looked like candy and unfortunately was as sweet as candy. Not a fan. I had the shrimp tempura dinner and luckily I was a lot happier with that. The portion is huge! There was even tempura bell pepper and onion, which I've never seen any where else. Pretty tasty. Service is great. Prices are a bit high, but I guess it is the ONLY Japanese restaurant around. read more

We were seated very fast. We chose private seating instead of hibachi. The lighting was a little darker than we like. The table & floors were clean. Our server was quick to get our drink order. We had sushi & tempanyaki. Our sushi lacked flavor. We chose the ichiban roll. We had to either add siracha or soy sauce to get some flavor. The main meal was about the same. We got the filet & salmon. Both meats lacked any seasoning or flavor. However they were improved with a sauce (siracha, ginger sauce, or spicy mayo). The vegetables were crisp and delicious but the cabbage felt odd. The fried rice was okay but could have used a little more flavor as well as ensuring the egg was chopped better instead of leaving large chunks. The absolute worst food experience i have had. This is Mother's Day weekend, and i wanted to take my wife out to something nice. Decided on Miyako (wished i wouldnt have). I ordered chicken and shrimp. I took one bite of the chicken breast and it was like eating a piece of rubber. So much so, it even squeeked when you chewed. (Seriously squeeked!). I nicely asked the waitress to send it back to the kitchen. She quickly returned say that .... and i quote "the manager said that since you already ate some of it, the best he can do is 50% off". I was really dumbfounded as i only had ONE bite. Wouldnt it make more sense to just recook a new piece of chicken vs. loosing a patron forever? The hibachi is absolutely excellent, they have the best fried rice I've ever had. It's a bit pricey but the fresh food, portions and quality atmosphere make it worth it. Oh where to begin...it started by having our party's name yelled out like a drill sergeant when it was time to be sat for the "hibachi" experience. I felt like saluting the hostess as I was directed to our table. We were then waited upon by Laura who had the personality of a DMV worker. When I asked if I could get double veggies to substitute for rice she said, "I'll have to charge you for that." Uhh okay? The "chef" by the name of David was clueless on how to prepare anything and when all else fails, throw more butter and soy/ginger sauce on it. He prepared veggies first, then rice, then meat. Everything was prepared at such different times that if you didn't begin eating right away, your plate would be ice cold. The shrimp was beyond overcooked and the steak had a nice bubblicious vibe to it. The only words exchanged between the chef and the table was a hi, how would you like your steak cooked, and bye. Patrons attend a hibachi setting for the interaction and entertainment aspect, not to just see an onion go up in flames... Did I mention the shrimp still had tails on them? One lady was so bummed about her steak that she didn't even touch it! After David was done the grill was left covered in a burned mess. Oh and the portion size? Talk about being rationed. Dude, I'm paying $30 for shrimp and steak and I had to hit the Burger King on the drive home. Stay away from here. This place is a joke if you've ever been to a half way decent hibachi grill. Let one competitor come in with half a clue and this place goes under. Take your $30 and get a legitimate dinner elsewhere. read more

Amazing sushi and entertaining hibachi! What sets Miyako apart for other restaurants is the quality of its staff. Having gone there several times with various waiters (Bianca, Rachael, Peyton, Haley and George) I've yet to have had a bad experience! On Friday, Aug 11, my wife and I were looking for a nice and casual-dress place to go eat just after the peak of lunch hour. We were also celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. We've only been living in Granbury just over 2 months so we also wanted to try a different place. That's how we decided on this hibachi-style place. We both agree that we made the right decision. We were asked whether we would like a private table or hibachi. We like meeting & interacting with new folks so we chose the latter. The waitress was good. She paid attention to us and the mom-daughter with us at the table and fulfilled our requests with a smile. The orders were all correct and we were there the proper amount of time. Now for the chef and the hibachi experience. This is not a new thing for us, which is why we chose hibachi. The fella knew all the moves to keep smiles on our faces, from the 18 inch high flame that hovered above a stack of onion slices for at least 30 seconds to the slick and surgical-like cuts he swiftly and strategically made on the veggies, meats, seafood, and the quickly tossed and fried our rice. We even learned that the mom-daughter couple at out hibachi table knew our neighbors. How "small world" was that? That was the catalyst for a interesting hour of conversation. Oh, yes, I'm a cajun who keeps two kinds of cajun spices at our house. Almost every meal I eat gets a sprinkling. For this hibachi experience I did not use ANY seasoning! Didn't need any IMHO. My wife was amazed by this. What did we order and what about pricing? We both ordered the "filet mignon with scallops." About $19 ea. Hey, it's our 25th! Food was excellent and cooked just right. We also had the appetizer sushi named Rattlesnake. Very good. The place is dark, but it fit with the ambiance. Will we return? First experience ever to eat at a hibachi place! Loved watching the cook serve the food and show us his skills! :D The food was amazing! One of the BEST shrimp I've ever eaten and the broth of soup u get at the beginning is soooo amazing! We also got the Fat Tuesday roll and that was delicious ! I guess the only con would be the workers at the bar. Looks like they were just chatting with a few friends and not even paying any attention to customers.
