Uni pasta

I love uni and I've always wanted to try Miyabi Uni. We stopped by on our way to Intuit Dome and the food didn't disappoint. We had the Uni and Toro donburi (rice bowl) and the signature Uni pasta (Japanese style w garlic Uni butter and soy sauce based sauce). Great umami flavors and plenty of Santa Barbara Uni. The ambiance was cozy and clean, while the service was friendly and warm. It was a great experience!

El Prado Ave points the way from the park to Miyabi Uni, which is nestled within Plaza Del Prado in the heart of Old Torrance. Location is a notable feature of the restaurant, as its walkable surroundings are filled with bakeries, tea rooms, antique shops, and more. Miyabi Uni has been serving up quality sashimi rice bowls (donburi), hand rolls, and original creations for over a decade, and that experience shows. We opted for hot green tea and the toro and uni wrap to start off. The tea, although bagged, had a smooth and rich sencha-type flavor. We enjoyed the ponzu jelly and other unique elements of the wrap. The uni tasted fresh and sweet, signalling us to go ahead and have more. The Miyabi Kaisen donburi, recommended by our attentive server, was replete with deliciously tender cuts of salmon, tuna, roe, fresh uni, and more. The house uni hand roll was good, but we really enjoyed the salmon skin hand roll, which was brimming with crispy skin and grilled flavor...so much so that we ordered two. In summary, this staple of Old Torrance is a great place for curated bites of high-quality uni and other fresh seafood. However, the quality and location come with a price. Miyabi Uni is best enjoyed on a date or celebratory occasions to fully appreciate what it has to offer.

Miyabi Kaisen small size, super delicious & fresh!

Miyabi Kaisen (comes with miso soup) was terrific, the House Green Salad with sea urchin dressing was amazing and the Miyabi Roll & Unagi Avocado Roll were both delicious as well. Had edamame & super yummy Chicken Karaage as well. Kudos to the sushi Chefs Xin & Carlos! Excellent friendly welcome & service from Roberto. Comfortable atmosphere with music lightly playing in the background. Highly recommend Miyabi Uni in Torrance, CA for delicious Japanese cuisine!

The fish is fresh here! They specialize in uni (hence the name) and have different varieties of uni. I love the donburi, uni pasta and fried oysters. They used to have happy hour, but they cancelled it in August 2025. They also have an outdoor patio that is dog friendly!

Don't think twice about coming here. I can't say enough good things about this place! I didn't personally care for the American Wagyu, but everything else was top notch. Just my preference. I'm sure if they had Japanese Wagyu it would be on par. The staff were very attentive and made sure I had everything I needed. And the music! I was jammin' while eating. When I'm back in the area, this is absolutely a spot I'll rerun to. Definitely on my top five.

Great dining experience if you like uni and creamy/buttery foods. I went here for the birthday. It wasn't too busy on a Saturday lunch. The service is very prompt. Someone from my group couldn't have butter and they were accommodating. All the food had very balanced flavors. The miyabi Uni pasta was really good. Creamy but not too rich. Great presentation. The truffle fries were fun too. They give you a paper bag to mix in as much truffle salt as you would like. We used the entire thing! The salt also went great with the grilled squid. Would definitely recommend.

Pricy but good quality seafood! We came here for a dinner at 06:30 Pm on a Saturday wasn't too crowded. There are table and bar seating, we walked here since the hotel was near by. For food, we got oyster with uni, sashimi bowl, ankimo, and saba and ebi sushi a la carte. Ankimo-(9/10) got miso flavor didn't have a fishy smell fresh Oyster with uni (10/10)-must get! The ratio of uni ikura was perfect. Chirashi bowl (8/10)-sashimi could have been cut thinner but generous on sashimi for $50, could share with 2 people. Sushi (7/10)-nothing special but fresh as expected Overall fancy and a treat meal to come for special occasion. Would highly recommend for uni lovers!

If Uni is in the name of the restaurant, then it's definitely a must try. It was nice to see that the wait staff were Japanese and I thought the chefs were too, but then I heard them speaking Spanish. That didn't quite ruin it for me, because if a master chef can teach his ways and it is followed, you would not know the difference. We came at the right time of the evening as they had happy hour options. Definitely had to order oysters for $1.50 each. Well worth it and so fresh. They had karaage octopus tentacles also for happy hour and they were delicious, but for $6.50, you only got 6 small pieces. As for our entrees, e has to try their creamy Uni pasta to compare to those we have had elsewhere. It was a slightly different preparation, but the taste was perfect. A very nice buttery and creamy taste of Uni and the right amount of sauce to pasta ratio. As for the reason we went to Miyabi Uni, we ordered the Uni Don Buri. We shared it which made it not enough, but as a single serving for one person, it would have been just the right amount of Uni and rice. Our server was very sweet. I tried my little bits of Japanese on her which really broke the ice. It almost made me feel like I was in Japan. We will definitely have to come back and try the many options they offer.

10/10. Fantastic service, with the nicest servers. Delicious food and I mean DELICIOUS UNI!! The overall aesthetic of the place is simple and quiet. It's a great place try sea urchin if you've never had it before. I will 100% be back again!

Uni omakase? Sign me the heck up! They didn't have this option last time I was here so I had to try it. Luckily the chefs OK'ed it (seems like they had enough uni for us). The menu was very worth it. We opted for the pasta upgrade and it was as good as the memories. I highly recommend the upgrade.. the uni was fantastic.. and they also did a great job on the pasta. The Santa Barbara uni was a little bitter compared to the Hokkaido uni - sad but not end of the world. The only item we didn't care much for was the wagyu rolls. Just wasn't a fan of this balsamic vinegar reduction underneath. One thing I do want to point it is this restaurant is actually pretty casual. Needless to say the omakase experience was pretty casual as well. We noticed they didn't take the finished plates away often and the table was left uncleaned.

I've been here previously in 2022 and took a major detour on my road trip just to come back this year! I came here planning to order the premium uni cream pasta, but I was pleasantly surprised to see an omakase option that included it as an upgrade as well. Of course, I had to try everything else the omakase offered! But first of all, the premium uni cream pasta is just something I highly recommend. The uni flavor is everywhere in the sauce and not like most places where it's normal cream and they slap on a single piece of uni on top. They also don't slack off on the quality of the pasta and it tasted fresh and bouncy. Absolutely worth every penny. Some notable comments on the omakase: - The uni shooter came in a spoon instead of a shot glass. Strange they named it a shooter, and I couldn't mix it before slurping it. But the uni flavor wasn't masked at all by the other ingredients and it tasted great. - I wasn't really a fan of the US wagyu beef roll. The balsamic flavor was just way too strong and masked all the good stuff - I just loved how almost everything had some uni in it, but not all the uni was good quality. There were at least a few slightly bitter pieces - I was already feeling crazy full by the time I finished the uni cream pasta. Don't worry about leaving here hungry - As we finished more and more dishes, the table started getting a bit dirty, but the server never bothered to wipe things down. Overall, this is a super solid spot to satisfy your uni craving for a reasonable price. It's not quite a luxury omakase experience, but it's still highly worth it!

Come here for Valentine's Day dinner. Reservations needed before you go. We ordered omakase and it's worth it. The environment is friendly and quiet. My favorite dish is the miyabi oyster, highly recommended! They also have regular oysters on the menu and it seems fresh too. They have tiramisu matcha ice cream as desserts. The Uni cream pasta has its very own unique taste, and I also recommend.

Ask the Community - Miyabi Uni

I would like to try the pastas, are there eggs (as in chicken eggs) used in the pasta sauce?

Most of them are made of butter. I don't think there are eggs in the sauce but it could be in making of the pasta noodles.

Do they accept walk in with no reservations?

I've walked in without reservation before but it may depend on how busy they are. Highly recommend calling ahead of time to make sure.

This place is listed today as having outdoor seating. Is it still available? If it is, is it covered or heated? How many people can sit there? / April 8, 2023

Yes it does but you need to call to reserve. It's covered all the time and heated (in the evenings).

Do they still have uni ice cream?

They did when I went in April.

Is there outdoor seating right now?

Yes, they have patio seating.

Do you have happy hours on weekdays? if so, what is the menu?

Yes, they do. Their menu changes with specials. You should call them.

How are the uni?

The uni is fresh! I'm certain they have Japanese Bafun uni and not just Santa Barbara uni. Bafun uni has more dense flavor and it's so much better than SB uni.

Is the patio dog friendly?

Yes :)

Is this business kid friendly?

Yes. If they will eat from their menu. But it's pricey.

Do they still offer 7 course dinner with pairing?

Yes, we do but only on select dates! Our next event will be next Thurs Sept 20th. Please like our Facebook page or follow us on Instagrams for all announcements. Hope to see you soon!

Is the uni risotto available during lunch time?

Yes!

Are there happy hour specials?

They just started: Monday through Wednesday all night $1 oysters (minimum 6) and $3 Sapporo. They will add a happy hour menu in about 2 weeks.

I understand it's a salad but damn the ratio of watercress to "beef" is insane. The salt and pepper shrimp was also good and the sauce that paired with it had a spicy kick! Many dishes I've tried I would get again. The dining area is cozy with plenty of booth and table seating. The staff and service are always friendly and attentive. If you're adventurous with food or you are vegetarian/vegan, there are plenty of choices depending on what you're craving. From soups to rice dishes, vegan and raw entrées you won't find anywhere else. Most of the "meat" textures are pleasant and close to the real thing. A few of my current favorites: * Chicken Lemongrass has been my go-to and one of the cooked dishes I'll recommend for anyone who still eats meat. Comes with salad and black rice. * Wonton Soup has a clean, yet flavorful mushroom broth without being heavy. The wonton is tender with soy protein and mushrooms inside. * Humanese (Living Soup) is creamy and smooth with a pleasant flavor. * Yellow Noodles were a delicious bowl of light yet savory mushroom broth, fresh ingredients, a mix of vegan proteins, and thin noodles. * BBQ "Pork" Roll is a light starter with a tasty peanut sauce. * Salt & Peppered "Shrimp" - I enjoyed this, and the texture is close to an actual shrimp * The Paella is a pleasant and tasty surprise, with big slices of avocado and a blend of fresh, clean ingredients. * Bun No.35 is a refreshing, hearty dish that fills you up without feeling heavy. Pour the vegan fish sauce over the ingredients and mix well! * Curried Rice has a cool presentation, and the live food and fresh ingredients are delicious and filling. A few of my friends also enjoyed this dish. * Green Papaya Salad is a nice shareable classic dish with fresh ingredients, and the spice level is mild to medium. Elixirs, juices, teas, and smoothies can satisfy your taste buds and your body. Vegan desserts are also worth a try. Recently, they added vegan cakes! I'm looking forward to returning and trying more dishes!

We scrutinize the food and more importantly, the consistency of the food over a long period, the service, vibe, all the rest. My husband and I have eaten here many times over the last year, and I am only now writing about this amazing place because, well, I normally can't bother to, even for our most favorite of places. 1) The food here, the crab, abalone, shrimp, whatever they put on the table, is consistently the freshest and cleanest you will find anywhere in LA, let alone amongst its competitor restaurants. 2) Best of its kind: in my opinion, this may just be the best version of the korean-style marinated seafood you will find in all of US. 2a) The soy marinaded crab is the perfect balance of savory, sweet and umami. It is not salty or overpowered by one flavor component like some versions can be. This will not fatigue your palate. 2b) The red pepper marinade crab is also superb, in that the marinade is just the perfect amount of spiciness and sweetness while maintaining a lingering note of freshness. This is my husband's first choice. 2c) Abalone bibimbap is, then, just the perfect cherry on top. So much umami and ocean goodness without it being overpowering or causing palate fatigue. So satisfying. 2d) The a-la-carte Seaweed soup with abalone is the ultimate iteration of its kind. Complex, umami, and comforting. 2e) The rice here is my favorite - the ideal version of its kind. You could feel the texture of each grain in the perfect in-between state of cooked and al dente. That level of accentuation of each rice grain is now a requirement for me to enjoy any Korean soy marinade crab and the seaweed soup. I know that not many places can fulfill this level or rice perfection and that I have been spoiled by Gaebang sikdang. Oh, lastly, try the pairing of food with Sang Maggoli drink. It's chef's kiss. 3) I know some people are irked by the price point, but I personally think it is a very reasonable price to pay considering the fact they import only the female crabs of the season from Korea to maintain the quality and consistency. 4) The food quality and flavor profiles here are meticulously consistent, again and again. Consistency is a very hard mandate to fulfill for the majority of restaurants, even for the starred ones. In my opinion, Gaebang Sikdang passes the test of consistency. 5) Service is attentive and friendly. It has a hint of Michelin fine dining vibe. This is a solid place on our list.

We visited the restaurant on Friday (3/27), and I wanted to check if anyone else experienced stomach issues after dining here? I personally did not eat the raw crab--I had the salmon and the other cooked dishes--but both I and another friend still had mild stomach discomfort afterward. Unfortunately, one friend who did eat the raw crab had a much more serious reaction. She experienced diarrhea that lasted until almost 2 AM and still wasn't feeling well the next day. She has eaten raw crab before in Korea without any issues, so this was concerning. This might be something the restaurant--or even the health department--should look into. Aside from that, the overall experience was just okay. The drinks selection is very limited and they don't have any dessert on the menu. We tried to order abalone, but it was out of stock. More concerning, it was still listed on our bill, and we had to ask them to remove it. At this point, I don't think we'll be returning.
