They had such a large selection, and fresh ingredients to design your own salad the way you like It. You won't hear people bitching about removing ingredients here (@ talking about people who remove onions/tomatoes ) lol. They make the salad how you want it . The salad is huge btw so be prepared to have it for lunch the next day or share with a friend . The fried cauliflower was recommended by the staff when I asked what the most litt part of the menu. I'ma tell y'all , i have only had it boiled and it's had no taste. They found a way , in a hopeless world to give flavor to something traditionally bland . Mixt is my go-to salad spot in SF while at work, so imagine the excitement I felt when I found out there was one in my hometown. I walked into the Broadway Mixt and was instantly greeted with a smile. I knew exactly why I was there so ordering was easy. In SF I usually build my own salad which ends up being what they have listed as a Cobb, just with shaved parmesan instead of blue cheese, so that's what I did here too. I love that the salads here are always fresh. Like, you can literally taste the freshness of the lettuce and the ingredients. I also love that they give you the option to have it mixed or just placed for your own mixing - which I usually choose and chose today. I love their Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing too. That's my go-to for my Cobb. I don't know what they put in it, but... it is soooo good. Something else I love is that they don't skip on the ingredients. You get what you pay for (I usually end up playing $15.00). It's a nice size salad and I'm always super full after eating it. I also love their lemonade. Everyone in Broadway was so friendly, quick and helpful. The establishment was clean and I like their covid set up so that you're staying the necessary 6ft part. I am not a salad person! But the way Mixt makes a salad we can all be salad people! They have sandwiches and chocolate chip cookies too, but the salads are the star! There are plenty of signature salads to choose from, but the build your own salad option is my favorite. There are so many choices there is literally something to suite any taste. I love their jalapeño cilantro vinaigrette and the grilled chicken with quinoa, lentils, and fresh red peppers, carrots, cucumbers and arugula. Everything is amazingly fresh and healthy. We were really disappointed by the grilled chicken that was served on Sunday, August 11th, between 5:30PM and 6:30PM. We have been coming to this Mixt location for years, and we have never had grilled chicken this salty at any of their current locations. it was very hot tonight so I thought a delivery salad would be perfect for dinner. I've had their salads before and enjoyed them. I ordered directly from them, thinking it would be more reliable. However, tonight, my order for two salads arrived missing one of the salads. Very disappointing. (I didn't notice until I opened the bag- and the delivery driver was long gone). There is no phone number anywhere to call them and find out what happened, or ask for a replacement (to try to save dinner). They charged me for both salads. Their "help" chat is nothing but a bot who doesn't help at all. I will never go back there. Zesty Grain Bowl: generous portion, flavorful and slightly tangy dressing, moist chicken. They did replace quinoa with barley without letting me know, but it was a hearty grain. Mac n' cheese (side): This was meh. It was pretty bland and texture of the sauce was kind of grainy, almost potato-like texture. Portion was pretty small, even for a side. For 3.50, a slightly larger portion would be good. Overall, the meals here are rather generous in portion and are overall good. It's pricey, but that's like any other salad place. read more

I've now tried this MIXT location twice, once dining in and the other a to-go order. Overall I really like this place and will definitely come back. My first time I ordered the Bachelor salad and asked for medium dressing, but next time I'd ask for it light. I really like their balsamic dressing. I also ordered the cranberry lavender lemonade and it was delicious! Don't let the name of it throw you off; I personally don't think it tastes strongly like lavender. My second order was placed online. Their website is very easy to navigate and it allows you to see all of the options they have for salads! I ended up ordering the Orchard salad and added butternut squash to it. My order was available for pick up at the time I requested it. It was good! The food here is pricey but so is just about everything in downtown Oakland. Plus, their ingredients are fresh and it's nice to have a healthy option. I found out about MIXT through a Yelp Elite event and I'm happy I did! This place is really good. TIP: if you don't have much time, order for pickup. The pickup area is near the cash register and you can just grab your order and go...no waiting in line! read more

But, today, they didn't put any chicken in the Elote salad within my order and it is very frustrating when you place to-go orders to make it all the way home in a race against the clock before a work meeting starts to find that the portion of your salad that actually makes you feel full is missing, especially when their only means of customer support if through their app (no customer service phone number). They need to do a better job of quality control because this has happened a few times now. read more

Great spot to grab a healthy meal on the go! I ordered online as I was exiting BART and they had my salad and beverage ready for me by the time I arrived (less than 10 minutes turn around)! I had the orchard salad and cranberry lavender lemonade. The salad was fresh and had very generous portions. The lemonade was tart; which I enjoyed (although I could not taste much of the lavender flavor). Street parking is limited, so I recommend taking public transit or ordering to-go and tag teaming the drive/pick up! Am curious to go back and try their sandwiches... read more

Ordered takeout from here during lunch during COVID. They have a single entrance (on Broadway)and single exit (on 23rd) system. There were 2 other people in line with me during lunch hour on a weekday. I ordered the Elote salad. The line went quickly. The issue with the single line system was that it was narrow and there was no waiting area for Door Dashers / Online Order Pick up so people would pass me from behind or just wait somewhere by the exit. For the food itself, the Elote salad was fresh and had a nice crisp. The flavor of the salad had a nice tang with the Tajin and lime. Unfortunately, they had forgotten to add the chicken to the salad. I had tried to call but they were not taking calls during COVID and I was too hungry to walk back. Ingredients are fresh but last three orders there is always something wrong. I ordered the Harvest salad with crispy chicken and I got a completely different ingredients with the chicken. Almonds instead of pecans. No pomegranate seeds. Bacon instead of the extra beets I asked for. Avocado fennel and moz cheese which isn't part of the recipe. I'm too hungry to return it since I've come home but they really have to start paying attention. Tried this salad/bowl place for the first time the other day and it was a pleasant experience. You can either design your own bowl, or order one right off the menu at the counter and watch them build your salad/bowl. The workers were very accommodating. I ordered the Ritual, but wanted to replace a couple ingredients with other ones - no extra charge. You also have the option to have them mix in your dressing (light, medium, or heavy) or have it on the side for you to mix it in yourself (they were also kind enough to give extra dressing when requested). Also ordered the Beetnik and Mixt Cobb for my family. Portions were generous and reasonably priced. A couple things to note: parking may be a bit tough depending on the time/which day of the week you come (street parking). One unisex bathroom for customers. And it's self service, so clean your own tables and pick up your mess afterwards! read more

I was craving something fresh but filling for lunch and decided to try out Mixt! I ordered the Pacifica Grain Bowl for delivery and the order was accurate. The ingredients were nice and fresh, and the crispy chicken was good. My only complaint is that the bowl had a TON of cabbage. The cabbage was the predominant flavor. Unless you're a cabbage lover, I'd suggest ordering with light or no cabbage. read more

I liked the Mixt concept. Reminds me of the old Speedsters where you could get a mixed salad but also order a salad with items that you wanted. I ordered the Poppy salad because it sounded like it had hearty vegetables. You can substitute one item, so I substituted beets for carrots and asked for the dressing on the side. The portion was large thankfully, as it ended up being a $15 salad that I could eat over two days. Loved the salad and I will return. There is not much room to wait inside so the line looks daunting outside the restaurant but it really isn't bad. There is a frequent buyer program with an app you download and you can also preorder salads for pickup. Will have to research how to do the latter. Great to have another salad option in Uptown Oakland. read more

Are you ready to get "Mixt" up in this GOODNESS??? YUM! Mixt has hit the scene and I'm so excited about it! It's so refreshing to have a healthier option in Uptown. I've been waiting for this spot to open ever since they put their signs up in their once vacant building. This new joint is straight FIYAH, y'all! Very fresh salads and killer baked goods! Stopped by the other night to try them for dinner and there was a line but it was pretty short. They just opened a few days ago, so I don't think that many people have caught wind of their opening. Right now they're still in their soft opening but will be having their grand opening sometime in mid April. This was my first time ever visiting a Mixt location, and I have to say that I'm really impressed. Mixt specializes in salads, bowls, and seasonal dinner plates and uses organic and locally sourced ingredients. The concept is cafeteria style where you stand in line and they prepare your salad in front of you. They have several specialty salads to choose from including vegetarian and vegan style, or you can create your own salad. The meats and sides for their dinner plates are prepared and cooked fresh daily as are their salads. The interior is very bright and clean, and every table comes equipped with a small buckets of napkins and reusable utensils. The price points are fair considering the amount of food that you'll receive. Many of the staff members seemed really new and some of them appeared to be overwhelmed which is totally understandable. Hopefully they'll get the hang of things once they've been open for a while. I ordered the Wrangler salad which is a springtime special. The Wrangler consists of romaine hearts, grilled chicken, applewood smoked bacon, grilled asparagus, rainbow carrots, jicama, cotija cheese, black beans, scallions, bbq spiced croutons, and sriracha ranch dressing. I can't even lie; this is one of the BEST damn salads that I've had in a looooong while! That there salad gave me my total utter and complete LIFE!!! I cannot BELIEVE how much flavor was packed into that salad! LAWD! They definitely don't skimp on the portions at ALL. I received a hefty salad that I literally couldn't finish. Ate the rest of it today for lunch, and that thang was STILL poppin'! It was just so friggin' FRESH and this combo in particular was just bananas! So flippin' delish! The chicken and smoked bacon were so yummy in the salad, and that sriracha ranch dressing though! Bless me with some more of THAT please! They also have craft cocktails, wine, beer, tea, and lemonade. I went with their hibiscus strawberry lemonade and it did not disappoint. And their cookies!!! Y'all... my cookie was amaze balls! Apparently they don't actually make the cookies, but they get them delivered fresh from a local bakery. I had one of the chocolate chip cookies... OMG! So effin' GOOD! It was soft baked and had a little sea salt on it which was unusual but it made for a wonderful combination! I actually spoke with Isaac who is one of the cooks there and he told me that they'll also be opening a location in San Ramon too. He also stressed that everything here is prepared fresh, and I believe it because it tasted as such. He also let me sample their mashed cheesy cauliflower which tasted excellent! I LOVED my salad but I am definitely goin' in on one of those dinner plates the next time around. Today, I went into Mixt on Broadway in Oakland, CA and ordered "a side of crispy cauliflower". The person taking my order said "so you want a portion?" To which I said "I want a side of crispy cauliflower". She said something but I didn't hear her as she was no longer at the register. I then got 2 pieces of cauliflower and when i asked her "what is this?" She said, "that's why I asked you" Please note: A Portion is not an option on menu. Poor, subpar service on a simple order. It's like chipotle but for bougie salad. You can build your own salad ($10.95) or order one of their prefixed salads. I built my own salad - you choose your greens, choose up to 5 toppings, and you can add protein for additional charge. I had the mixt greens with caramelized onions, roasted peppers, roasted cauliflower, edamame, avocado, and steak ($5) with cilantro jalapeño dressing. The dressing was not spicy but I was glad my salad wasn't drenched. The salad was also a good portion. I also tried their lemonade and I was happy to find that it was not very sweet. The lemonade ended up being pretty tart but I still liked it. For the pricepoint, I thought it was better than Whole Foods salads. read more

Everything and everyone deserves a second chance, right? Well, that's how I think, anyways. MIXT came so highly recommended, I was a bit bummed to say the least that my initial experience on 8/18/20 wasn't exactly mind-blowing, and that's simply because so many ingredients I added to my customized order were straight up - MIA! Fast forward another month... I placed another easy peasy online order and crossed my fingers, eyes, toes, and legs (well, almost that part) that the crew working that day would pay attention to the specifications I requested. This time around, I opted for the "GREEKISH" salad - one of their delicious sounding Vegetarian selections consisting of romaine, kale, grilled eggplant, feta, cherry tomatoes, pickled onions, roasted red peppers, & a summer herb vinaigrette - and you know I had to slightly customize being that I started Vegetarian Keto and wanted to target as many macros as I could. Upon arrival, the location had just opened and I was immediately greeted by one very friendly staff member (which already differed from my first visit - not that they were rude by any means whatsoever, but always nice to feel acknowledged and welcomed.) The young lady asked if I was there to pickup or to order and I explained I placed the order online, she immediately asked my name and located my order in the assembly line and informed me she would let me know as soon as it was ready. I thanked her and sat at one of the tables nearby inside the restaurant. About 5 minutes later, she was so kind to call my name and brought my order out to me! Fast, friendly and a very personalized experience so far! I drove back to work, mouth salivating over the deliciousness that was in store for me, whilst still keeping the preverbal fingers crossed that nothing was omitted this time around. I could tell immediately that this salad was jam-packed with freshness as soon as I opened the bag - and saw the "extra's" immediately atop the amazing greenery - they didn't neglect a thing! Extra grilled eggplant, extra feta, added avocado and an extra side of oil and vinegar (dem healthy fats are a keto must, yo!) - all put together aesthetically pleasing to the eye - and to the palate - I was so pleased with my order and the entire experience over my "GREEKISH" salad - I could imagine myself laying on a lovely beach in Santorini savoring each flavorful bite with some nice, traditional Greek instrumental music in the background, beautiful blue ocean waves beckoning and got so caught up in the moment, I almost yelled "OPA!!!" right there in my office! I ordered a seasonal peach salad and juice for lunch today..... it was so delicious I had two meals out of it. The chicken was really good, I'm kinda picky and if I'm impressed trust it's delicious. Everything tasted fresh and good quality ingredients. The seasoning was perfect. I also appreciate that the delivery bag was closed with stickers to keep germs out(I ordered from door dash). Love the concept. Fresh, healthy, minimize plastic, and yet you get a wide range of choices. Uptown's restaurant scene needs a place for people to meet where they don't have to regret what they ate the next day in order to see their friends. I have been here 3 times since they opened. I have brought friends who like to eat healthy and they have really enjoyed it. The salmon has been good and the salads are really tasty because of the ingredients not just because of the dressing, although I really appreciate how they ask you how much dressing you want before they toss your salad. The drinks also span a wide range of choices considering it's a "healthy venue". They have a liquor license and great non-alcohol choices as well. The only issue is their service continues to be on the slower side. You cannot be in a rush. read more

My first visit to Mixt was a pretty good experience. Their ingredients are super fresh and there is an overwhelming number of salad, bowl, and market plate combos for your picking, as well as a few seasonal sandwiches. I thought there were many interesting toppings, called Specialty Ingredients, to choose from, like grilled corn, pickled green strawberries, and house-baked falafel crumbles. Super intriguing! I do think it is overpriced for what it is, but sometimes you just don't have the time or ingredients to make your own healthy salad. They are open during COVID-19 for both pickup through their website and delivery through UberEats and Doordash! There were 2 outdoor tables that were empty, but I believe indoor dining is currently closed. We picked up our takeout order--there's a whole section in the back for pickup orders which was super convenient. If you order in-store, it's basically a Chipotle-style assembly line where you pick your toppings through the counter as you go. I opted for a Design Your Own grain bowl with purple barley and arugula, grilled chicken ($3.50 extra), cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette, and avocado, chickpeas, falafel crumbles, heirloom tomatoes, grilled corn, and spiced pumpkin seeds as my 6 toppings. Each bowl comes with 5, and any additional are $1 each. I love how well packaged everything was and the dressing was served on the side. There was only a tablespoon full of each topping, which was a bit underwhelming. For the chicken and tomatoes, there were only about 6-7 diced pieces each. I had half of the bowl hoping to save the rest for leftovers but half the bowl just didn't feel like a full meal. I only point that out because normally I'd have no problem finishing a whole salad bowl myself... except according to the online nutrition calculator, this bowl was a whopping 1045 calories! I know not all the calories are necessarily "bad" calories since it's a pretty big serving size--and it's pretty much all of my daily caloric intake for someone my age/height/weight. But having half of my grain bowl did NOT feel or taste like a 500-calorie meal. For comparison, a chicken burrito bowl at Chipotle without the tortilla is around that range--and finishing one of those makes me super bloated! While tasty, this just wasn't filling provided the tiny amount of chicken and chickpeas (my proteins) that were included. My total was around $15 pre-tax/tip. That said... the grilled corn was cut straight off the cob--super juicy and sweet--and the falafel crumbles were a unique texture, like deconstructed croutons with a bit of a bite to them. Absolutely flavorful and amazing!! Another highlight was the cilantro dressing. Vegan and dairy free, but still full of flavor and not super spicy. I think I will be back to experiment with different toppings, sides, and dressings in the future, but I do think Mixt is quite expensive for how scant the portion-to-calorie ratio is. My boyfriend, who's vegetarian, got a market plate with Tamari tofu skewers, and sides of mac & cheese and grilled corn with cojita cheese and jalapeño (basically elotes). All plates come with your choice of two sides. If you don't like tofu, they also had steak, chicken breast, and steelhead (fish) as alternate options. Again, while he said he liked everything, there were only like 5 cubes of tofu. I don't know how that can be considered a full dinner to anyone. His total was around $12 pre-tax/tip. However, I've had some of their market plates and the food tends to not be the freshest since it is pre-cooked and sits on the counter until ordered. They also have refreshing and tasty drinks.
