They have three sizes - small, medium, and large - for the Goldilocks among us. They don't just have the standard algorithm menu. They have a wide variety of seasonal items that supplement their very substantial regular menu. The nutritional values are very clearly labeled. I also appreciate that they don't heavily season their soups with salt so the flavor of the ingredients can shine through. Service is fast and very friendly. I hope all soup and salad queens assemble because this place deserves a lot more love for who they are! Side note: Inflation sucks. Soup: we tried the tomato bisque and it was pleasant and comforting, healthy tomato flavor, maybe a little hint of cheese or just sour cream. Very slightly under salted but that contributed to its tasting homey. We got several "build your own" salads. Chicken was tender and kept well but in one of the salads was in a slab rather than individual bites, which is never what we want in a salad. All the produce was nice and fresh, my favorite was the roasted Brussels sprouts. Enjoyed the tuna salad very much. Tofu is completely unseasoned so I wouldn't order that again. Dressings needed a little more oil to my taste, but pleasant flavors. We will definitely order again! read more

My wife brought home one of their salads the first time she ever ordered and it was horrible had chunks of what they call chicken but it was like chunks of processed meat and very little of it. Had hardly any bacon the croutons were like eating rocks ! Seems like she paid $17.00 for a bowl of lettuce. Also the Parmesan cheese which is usually real shredded strips of cheese but this had the Parmesan grated cheese powder. We live in Warwick and will never go back there again. read more

The seating is a little limited, it makes me think they would prefer to be a grab and go spot. They have a nice selection of bowls, soups, salads, and sandwiches. Some items can be gotten prepackaged from the case, but for items like the Riced cauliflower and hummus bowl I ordered you stand in line for them to make it and then you get to stand in line again to pay for your order. Not really a fan of that two line flow. The bowl itself was huge but the flavors did not meld as nicely as I wanted (the cranberry beet relish sort of took over). I LOVE SOUP. Seriously, I'm a soup fan and could have it any day, including warm days. Ladle & Leaf is the re-boot of the Soup Company. They have changed up their interior and added menu items, but still offer some of their tried and true soup options. I love the corn chowder, Manhattan clam chowder, lentil, Smokey split pea, chicken tikka masala and the grilled chicken with Swiss chard soup. I usually get a regular size without bread and add on a half sammie. For my sandwich selections, I am a sucker for their tuna and get that most often - but will switch up with a turkey avocado or egg salad sometimes. I signed up on the app "Thanx", which gives you points for every dollar spent towards credit for more soup! I've already received 2 free soups and love the rewards program. I concur with those patrons who have commented about the lack of catering by Ladle & Leaf. I don't think they want to do catering or even have the ability to make large quantities of food. If you even attempt to order in advance they won't call or email you back if they're unable to meet the request. They will just go ahead and cancel the order. I made a mistake twice (shame on me for giving them the opportunity) to place a bulk order online for (11) people. The purchase went through and my credit card was charged. When I went to pick up my order the following day, they weren't able to locate my order despite having a confirmation and given a time as to when the food was ready to be picked up. First, they told me (in person) that I would need to place the order online. The following day after the purchase hit my credit card and I was given a confirmation as to what time to pick up the food, hey couldn't find the order. I called Grubhub, since they were the online food ordering platform I had to use to place this order. After making my complaint, Grubhub apologized and tried to give me discounts and refund my money. On the day of my event why didn't anyone call or let me know that they weren't able to fulfill the order. Instead...on the day of the event that I needed the food, I was left empty handed. Been a while since I've been over to the Oakland City Center. I was looking for a decent soup n salad place. Remembered there was a San Francisco Soup Co. Walked over n found Ladle & Leaf now occupies the space. They are on the Clay Street side of the Center across from the Federal bldg. The menu of salads n soup looked good. I liked the fact the allow you to make your own salad. Make my own is what I did. Chose my base..spring mix with 4 toppings (edamame, cucumbers, rossted mushrooms n olive tepenade and my salad dressing of choice was miso sesame vinsgrette. Delicious n fresh! Best salad I've had in a really really long time. The options are endless here. Say good bye to lettuce and dressing. These are top notch gourmet salads. Once you try one you'll want to try more or create your own which I haven't done yet but I have tried the chicken chipotle and most recently tried their pomegranate hummus bowl. Was a little nervous with how much they piled on but omg it was amazing. The flavors together work so well I crave this salad now! This place is a must hands down. I work across the street from Ladle Leaf.. the food had been good. I've tried the Chicken Tortilla Soup, Tomato Soup, pesto Turkey sandwich (the ciabatta bread was hard) , A Caesar Salad, The Brussel Sprout Salad. The last time I visited 4/6/23 I ordered the Brussel Sprout Caesar Salad I asked for the lady to hold the avocado and ask for chicken on top... They charged me $3 for the chicken (no problem) as chicken was not apart of the salad. I get back to my desk and there was NO CHICKEN!!! Although I was charged for it! They usually don't give you a receipt unless you ask for it. I sometimes request a Receipt. This time I was in a rush so I did not get one.. By the time I realized their mistake Ladle Leaf had already closed for the day. Being 6 months pregnant with Twins I was highly upset because I had mouth fixed on some that particular salad with CHICKEN!!! I liked coming here more when it was SF Soup Company. I feel like now that they have a salad line AND a soup line, they are operating in a constant overly rushed state. Everyone who goes to City Center during lunch hour knows there'll be a short wait, but the staff here rush you through as though they've never seen a lunch rush...EVERY TIME! Well, I arrived at 1:35pm and the store closes at 2:00pm. The staff refused to serve me a salad and all of their salad stuff was still out on display. Once I tried to order, a Hispanic male staff member started snatching the food items away stating they were no longer serving salads. An Asian and Hispanic lady also began saying that they were only able to serve me a soup or sandwich. They said that they stop serving salads at 1:30pm. I drove all the way from Berkeley. Placed an online order for my family and was greeted with no kind words other than what's the name. They didn't make a single order correctly and we're out of everything. They cancelled a few of the salads without warning so we didn't have enough food for the family. This review is for catering only. I'm currently in charge of the catering at my employer and from the employees, I've heard that ladle and leaf is a hit. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. I gave them a shot TWICE. And both times were horrible. Mind you, this catering meal is supposed to feed 310 people. The first time, they were 1hr and 30min late. This was a day where we had a board meeting with a bunch of executives in house. When the food arrived, it sure was not enough for 310 people. The second time, they were 45min late after promising that they would not be late. On top of that, one of the girls who delivered a gallon of soup dropped it outside and just left it there. Including the container! I get that you can't clean the soup but at least pick up the packaging. I don't think they're able to produce the amount of food we need but if you can't, I'd rather know way in advance than second guessing. At this point I was done ordering from ladle and leaf, but my boss decided to give them one more chance. I had them scheduled for today. I spoke with the rep that I was working with yesterday via phone. And then received an email that they would not be able to deliver at 9PM yesterday. I work for a corporate company where we provide food calendars monthly. We had an entire month to plan this and to find out that you cannot provide the food the day before is highly unacceptable. It is, however, always thick, rich, and greatly satisfying on coldish days. You get a regular (pretty sizeable) bowl of soup and piece of bread for around $7. WARNING: If you want a salad from here, I know it says they close at 2:00 pm but if you want a salad get there before 1:00 pm or else you sol. The employees there want to get out of there early so they start breaking everything down way before 2:00 pm. I get it...we all want to get home early but dude it's 2:00 pm not 2:00 am. For a quick, efficient grab and go lunch this is a good bet, if you're feeling up for soup, chili, or a hot cup of something. The choice is good and they give you the basic nutritional facts in symbols to help you select, I.e. vegan, etc. I find that the turkey chili is the best choice, and if I'm up for just soup then the chicken soup is fairly good too. You get a roll with it, and it can be on the pricier side for the larger portions. I like the staff and find them swift and friendly, sometimes admirable dealing with some of the challenging patrons. They have it set up that after you pay you get your own condiments, napkins, utlensils and a bag and you're good to go. read more
