Inept idiots. I was waiting for CreateSpace to validate my order and wanted to do an early cheap run of my new album. First, as a VERY MAJOR WTF, is that when you log in, not only do your credentials get sent in plaintext, it actually passes in your email address and password on the URL. This means that anyone can look at your browser history and get your password. There are all sorts of fun XSS vectors that can be used to get that, and of course any HTTP proxy that is recording a connection log will just have that stuff for free. VERY insecure, VERY stupid. I can understand if they were feeling lazy about auth and HTTPS and just wanted to return a single-use session identifier, but using the password in the query string? STUPID. The only reason I found that out, incidentally, was I tried logging in again from a different browser (this issue wasn't there on the account creation page), because their .wav file uploader (a very badly-written Java applet) was rejecting my .wav files as being "corrupted," despite these .wav files being perfectly usable and working in every other piece of software. I switched browsers because maybe it was having trouble with Chrome, but Firefox was having trouble too. It turned out that the issue was that Logic emits some (perfectly legal) metadata chunks for various uses, and their validator was barfing on those. So I submitted a customer service request, and their response was extremely condescending, and said that if it's saying my files are corrupted then they must be and I should upload them as MP3 instead. Uh, WHAT?! You do not use MP3s as a delivery format for CD audio! So I replied saying that mp3 is not a suitable master delivery format, and the next condescending response was that "mp3 works just fine for our other customers." There were some other weird issues too, even before I got to that point; for example, their artwork templates show a huge unsafe crop region (which means that they must have very very high tolerances on their printing processes — some tolerance is acceptable but this had a "safe area" of close to half an inch!) and also for images it was very unclear as to whether they were using the pixel sizes or the DPI sizes, but in any case they wanted something that was marked as 300DPI (i.e. I had to use Photoshop's "save as copy" rather than "save for web" to get the metadata set correctly) and a particular pixel resolution, but they wouldn't say what that resolution was, which made me worry that the positioning and sizing was just going to be all sorts of weird arbitrary with shitty nearest-neighbor filtering or something similarly messed-up. So, no, avoid Mixonic. They are a service by the clueless, for the clueless. So what if they cost only $2.50/copy? You totally get what you pay for. The best bit: there's no way to close your account, so I changed my password to "mixonic_sucks" so that I could safely take a screenshot of the login process that shows how stupid it is. (And of course the password change form items went into the URL as well.) Then I logged out, and tried to log back in — and the password field only accepts an 8-character password. Which was not enforced or even hinted at on the password change form, so now I can't even access the account. (Fortunately I had deleted my content first. I'm not positive it's actually gone from there, but whatever.) Miserable failure of a shitty ass company. How are they still around? read more

I've ordered from these guys 2 different times, never once had a problem with customer service, quality (music or printing). I'm notoriously last minute with everything and the last two rush orders I've placed, I've worked with Laina in CS and both times, she very patiently bent over backwards to make sure that I understood the products I was trying to order and walked me through uploading everything correctly through their website, both graphics and audio files. That process was a lot easier than I expected also! With my first order she even helped me after hours (when my designer failed to format the cd cover correctly using their template), by making a last minute adjustment to the graphics for me at no charge either. And this was for a rush order to pick up the NEXT day by noon for gods sakes. Even that was ready as promised thanks to the production team. I just placed my 3rd order today and look forward to continuing to give them more business. Now if I could only get a repeat customer discount promo code! Would have given 5 stars if I didn't feel that they were a touch on the expensive side, but I've never really shopped around and if I've found something that works, sometimes it's not even worth saving the money to move my business. read more

Ok. I have had 2 bad experiences...on separate occasions. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...well, yeah, i don't know why I went back, but anyway. First time: Paid extra for the 3 day turnaround as I needed the run of cd's for a cd release show. They called me the day they were supposed to be ready (on a friday) and said that the black ink didn't come out as deep as it should have, so they reprinted, and my order would be ready Monday instead. I told them the release was the following day and I heard a gulp at the other end of the phone. They managed 20% of the order for the weekend and the rest the next week. I then had to fight for a refund on the extra money I had paid for 3 day turnaround. I got it, but really had to keep on them. Second time: Ok, so I had more time this time, and at least the printing and audio was good last time, if not a little late. This time, Cds were produced on time, but the printing was shoddy quality! No double checking this time i guess. I don't understand how high quality solid color could turn out pixelated when printed, especially when artwork was to specs and DPI standards. Late, expensive, and sometimes bad printing. I have also never heard of MP3s being a decent enough format for a master, and I have been doing this a good while. Perhaps some projects don't need high def audio...guess it depends on what you want. Unfortunately I think I'll look elsewhere next time. read more

I shopped around different local and national places for my small run of DVD's and Mixonic had a great price. Their website is easy to go through and grab the templates you need. When I sent in my artwork they called me the next day to check with me on a concern they saw. We addressed it quickly and the order went on. I was actually able to pick up my order a day early! When I went to pick up the order the staff were friendly and gave me a nice little tote bag. At every point the service I received was helpful and just the right amount (you know how some people can be too "helpful"). I would recommend Mixonic to anyone. read more

I ordered 200 copies of my music project in a jacket sleeve and they were great to work with. The sleeve looks awesome and CD just like one you'd buy at the store. The big thing with them is that they spruced up my submission to look centered and professional and all the times I called they were very helpful. I ordered some duplication though Discmakers and found out it was this local company doing the burns. Well I went down there the other day to pick up my fresh CD's and found out that NONE of them worked on my computer. When speaking with them regarding the disc's they said that there is a 1% chance of this happening and that even though my master CD worked fine... IT WAS MY FAULT!?!?!?! Discmakers was kind enough to pick up the slack but this is horrible service. read more

We just finished a PodCast companion CD project for www.wendytokunaga.com and we ordered the first 100 CD's. Everything went very smoothly and we tested the CD on computers and a clock radio too and all played fine. We had a small address error in order but when I sent an email to support they corrected it right away. So in our specific case it worked just fine for us. The only panic thing was when I uploaded the graphics, it showed off centered which was easily correctable on the web, that could have been a bit better. read more

Horrible experience. Paid extra for a 1 day turnaround and overnight delivery. Setup my files with their templates and uploaded and then FedEx'ed them my master. Then wait... and wait... and wait... Two days after they received my master I called them. "Oh we don't know where it is." Well FedEx says you received it and signed for it. "Oh, let us call you back...." 3 hours later... "We found it but it seems to have some 'problems.'" I'm sorry but I've authored 100s of DVD masters with different replicators and never had a single one come back bad. Until Mixonics... Now of course the woman I'm talking to on the phone can't tell me what precisely is 'wrong' with my master- because she's "not a technical person." Great... then wtf are you doing answering the customer support phone for a technical company, my dear? (Realized at this exact moment, they lost it and were lying to cover their tails.) Next, onto their final suggestion, "Just send us another master and we'll start over." Um no thank you. I said cancel the order. No email confirmation of the cancellation and no refunded credit card charges. Ouch. I then took my business to another of the many replicators I've successfully worked with before. They had the job printed in an hour and were set to roll from my master the next morning. That's what I'm talking about (it was CDPrint Express if anyone's counting). I thought I'd toss a bone to a local SF company but man I wish I'd read the bad reviews about Mixonic before giving them a chance. Don't waste your time. This is like buying gas from a gas station pumping sour milk. Why bother when there's another gas station on just about any corner? They should rebrand themselves Moronic... read more

I run a charity. We had a DVD burned by mixonix, to help us raise $$ and awareness for what we do. The artwork was beautifully done. BUT, DVDs came individually sealed in mailers (so I could mail to donors etc...) and they DO not work!!!!!! I called the company several times. They will not help and say we are to blame b/c we did not check before sending. WELL, we DID! It worked on computer, so never thought it wouldn't work on DVD player for TV. We are a charity, unable to waste $$$$$ like this. I am gravely disappointed. Will NEVER use and/or recommend for anyone to use this company. The very least they could do was offer a discount, a sorry, a something!!! But, alas, some are just takers. read more

I did several DVD duplication/replication projects in 2011-2012 all remotely through their website, including disc artwork, and box wrap ranging from 25 units to over 1000 units. I think their website ordering system is one of the most easy to use. I choose them over many other businesses because of it and also because their prices are very good. I also interacted with their customer service team by phone and was happy with the personal attention when one of my projects needed special ordering that was more complex than the usual disc packaging. I would have given 5 stars for them, however I do think they may be slightly under staffed in the customer service department. My jobs were done on time, but at times it took a bit longer than I expected to get a call back or an email response to a question. read more

I've had good experiences with Mixonic. My orders with them went smoothly and I was satisfied. In one order there was a slight printing problem with some, but not all of the CDs I ordered. I called attention to the slight but striking 1.5mm visually unbalanced top of the artwork as it immediately bothered my eye, and Mixonic was cooperative and eager to make it right. They reprinted the replacement booklets at no charge, these came out beautifully and correct. Bob Jacobson and Hunter Dreidame did the right thing and helped me make the artwork look its best. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I WOULD THINK THEY WOULD IMPROVE AFTER GOOGLING THEIR OWN REVIEWS. The reviews on this Yelp site are very valid and accurate. In trying to make my CD I did a lot of research in different companies. I came across Mixonic through an ad in reverbnation. They were giving a 10% discount on top of their already low prices and so I decided that I couldn't miss out on the deal. Long story short: I googled many reviews about them (including Yelp). The majority are negative. I went on their facebook page and could find one comment by a customer in the past six months (at the time of this writing) that was a negative comment for poor quality printing and CDs. I called their office atleast THREE times to request samples of printed inserts. I lwas in San Diego for a month at the time. And they are based a little more north in San Francisco. I never received any samples. I called to follow up and they kept saying they made an error and they would send something. Never got anything. What's more is that i emailed their customer service multiple times and got ZERO replies from them. Here's another point: They were not willing to provide printed proofs before full manufacturing/replication of my CDs. The woman on the phone told me if I wanted any samples I would have to order a duplicated CD. Um....HELLO! Different printing techniques and methods. They didn't seem very educated. Long story short: If Mixonic cannot even reply to multiple emails - or mail out a simple package in the state of California, or even hire employs that understand the differences between replication and duplication - I HIGHLY DOUBT THEY ARE CAPABLE OF HANDLING MY ORDER AND WOULD NOT TRUST THEM. My advise is: You get what you pay for. If a company charges cheap there's a reason. Also, the QUALITY of your CD audio can vary with different companies. Go with a reliable company like: Oasis CD, Groovehouse Records, or anyother company that can offer CERTIFIED Glass Mastering at Single Speed. This is the key people. Google it, research it. Your audio quality will be better using Glass Mastering at Single Speed. The companies I listed just happen to be the most popular, but I'm sure with some research you can find other options that are more trustworthy than Mixonic - even if they maybe $200-300 more expensive. read more

Let me start this review by saying that I searched via the web for a company to duplicate small batches (50 each) of 22 CD's and a DVD for a reasonable price. Every company I found, including Mixonic, had both good and bad reviews. After a colleague recommended Mixonic, I had them do the project last August. All of the work was done well. The graphics printed on the face of he disks was perfect. In short a good job and done on time. But, the packaging of the disks was not done well and the box arrived with nearly every bundle broken open and disks scattered. That took a while to sort out. As the saying goes, it is not whether or not someone makes a mistake, but how they handle it. When I contacted them about the issue, they immediately asked how many and which disks had been damaged so they could rush replacements to me. I turned out that there was no damage, but the reaction of their customer service made me willing to try them again. I just had another set of the same quantity of CD's and DVD's produced. I sent an email to the generic contact for Mixonic saying that I was trying them again but hoped that the shipping would be handled better. I got an immediate reply from the Operations Manager asking for details as to what had happened so he could make sure there were no problems. After I explained, eh told me he would personally oversee the packing for shipment. We had a couple of very pleasant and chatty emails back and forth and he told me they would ship them on individual 50 disk spindles. They arrived yesterday and not only was each set of 50 on its own spindle but the spindles were bubble-wrapped and all were securely packed into a sturdy box. The quality of the job was great and the communication as the job progressed was excellent. I know it may seem strange to give 5 stars when I had the problem last August, but as I said earlier, everyone makes mistakes some time. Mixonic's reaction and response, plus the quality and timeliness of the work, is what makes them a top notch company. read more

I definitely recommend Mixonic and have enormous respect for Bob and his team who handled my complex DVD replication project. The project involved 4 different titles (a total of 4000 DVDs) and artwork that needed to be adjusted. Every step of the way he was professional, clear, and knowledgeable. I've used Mixonic for over a year for duplication of DVDs and have found them to be friendly, professional and on time. When I needed assistance with the interface for making simple printed face labels, they were very helpful. I have not used them yet for printed inserts or DVD covers so I can't speak about those services, but for duplication, they are great. while I understand the bad reviews Mixonic has received on yelp they are not completely deserved. Yes at first I thought the service was poor and that they seemed really corporate and self important, I admit I was in a rush and didn't have all my elements together but they didn't particularly help me get it all resolved either. Bottom line is If you have your shit together and are not in a rush you will get a good product. If you are in a hurry and want great customer service forget about it. Some of the bad feelings I got there were my fault but if you go there you'll see what i mean. If you do their price is fair and my dvd's came out great as far as I can tell I've only sold 200. I still would check out some of the mom and pop places where they seem to care a little more about the customers individual needs, even though your burn may still come from Mixonic because most places in SF take their work to them anyway.
