Mitigation Inc will try and steal your home, drain your bank account, and defraud the public. Mitigation Inc operates like a criminal gang. I am in the process of reporting them to the California State Insurance Commissioner, the Los Angeles Consumer Affairs Department, the California Contractors State License Board, the Los Angeles Police Department, and filing suit against them in the California Superior Court system. Mitigation Inc engages in fraud, deceptive practices, and criminal conduct. Travis Oakie, and his gang of thieves, will promise you the moon, overbill you, and your insurance company, and then try to use the court system to steal your property via filing liens against your home. How do I know this? It happened to me! We had a minor water leak at my property when we were on vacation.My tenant contacted Mitigation Inc to stop a broken water line located at my home in San Pedro. Mitigation In will respond to emergency requests and inform all parties that "Everything will be covered by your insurance company" to assuage your fears. This is their criminal Modus operandi. They use fear and lies to gain your trust. They will try and gain your confidence and brainwash you into accepting their claims and operational practices. After Mitigation Inc arrives at your property the real fun starts. First of all they will demolish your home and destroy your property entirely. In my case they did all of this while I was out of the country with no authorization whatsoever from me! Should you have any questions Mr. Travis Oakie will pull you aside and ask you, "Do Your Trust Me"? I replied, "Travis this is exactly the kind of statement that I would expect to hear from a used car salesmen who is about to give me the worst possible deal". I asked Mitigation Inc to provide me with documentation re the scope of their proposed work before, during, and after this company he started work on my project. I put this demand in writing, via e-mail, via text, via voice mail, and in person. Mitigation Inc. never respond to my repeated requests for documentation despite my numerous demands for estimates, invoices, statements, pro-formas, sales orders, and receipts. I asked them for this info on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to no avail. This is their tactic. And this is fraud. I was charged $25,621 for "their work ". Even before the ink dries on your bill you will receive a lien on your property. They will lie to you every step of the way in order to fleece you and grab ownership of your property via the lien process, This constitutes fraud. Fraud an independent tort, it is one of the three "bad acts" that will justify an award of punitive damages under the statute. See Civ. C. § 3294(b), (c)(3). Similar to the common law, the punitive damage statute defines fraud as "an intentional misrepresentation, deceit, or concealment of a material fact known to the defendant with the intention on the part of the defendant of thereby depriving a person of property or legal rights or otherwise causing injury." Civ. C. § 3294(c)(3). Although the predicates are similar for a compensatory fraud case and a punitive claim based on fraud, the level of proof required is different. The basic tort claim, of course, requires only a showing by a preponderance of the evidence, while the punitive claim requires a showing by "clear and convincing evidence." Civ. C. § 3294(a). When presenting both claims to a jury, however, the practical effect of this distinction is likely to be negligible. Additional business tort causes of action will also support a punitive claim. The possibilities are numerous and include interference with prospective economic advantage, interference with contractual relations, inducing breach of contract, and conversion. Mitigation Inc is also guilty of other two predicates for punitive damages - malice or oppression - as defined by the statute. Civ. C. § 3294(a). Any company that engages in consumer fraud by concealment is guilty of California criminal fraud laws 1. Commit an act that results in an unfair or undeserved benefit for yourself, and/or 2. Cause harm or loss to another person. Fraudulent acts are most frequently driven by two motives: 1. Financial gain, or 2. The desire to escape criminal culpability. Caveat Emptor! P.S. I read the reply and they are lying again. I am happy to give them 100% of my insurance company payout. My insurance company reviewed their bill and called them out re their deceptive practices and double billing on many items. My mom contacted this company in need of a place to cover leaks and deals with molds since we had a leak in a pipe above our living room ceiling. I should have realized something wasn't right from the beginning when the Mitigation company can't give any hard numbers on price. You get the run around even when the insurance is involved. Workers brought their heavy machinery to dry up the ceiling drywall and left it for days. No calls and when they said they would be there, they showed up hours later so it was a waste of time hanging around all day. One the workers came after 5pm and the owner Travis talked to my mom at 7:45pm getting upset with her because she wanted my mom to pay $1,500 for the deductible. Well according to my mom's insurance, her deductible was not $1,500, but much less and this pissed Travis off telling my mom that his worker wants to go home because it was almost 8pm. Well his worker had no business working on our house so late. We didn't want him there at that point either yet my mom was giving the worker the deductible that her insurance told her to pay. Travis was not happy and got upset with my mom. Now my mom is in her 60's and i couldn't believe this is how this guy handles his business. The next day my mom was on the phone with her insurance because she wanted to clarify the deductible and her insurance put them on 3-way with a phone conversation with Travis. Travis was being all nice at first, acting like nothing happened or how he mistreated my mom. Once Travis asked the insurance agent to verify the deductible, and the agent told him that it was less than $1,500, Travis got upset with the agent and went off on the phone. It appeared that Travis was too cheap to hire more workers. A worker removed the drywall on the ceiling and the day he was installing the new drywall, there was only 1 worker to hold up the drywall and seal it in. My husband and his friend were home at the time and the only worker that went to the house to do the job needed their help to hold up the drywall so he can drill it in. Well the worker was on the ladder and he dropped his drill, causing damage on our brand new installed laminate flooring (installed this February 2016) and the guy just laughed. Now there was a language barrier with the 2 workers that came from time to time. However, the company did send out someone to fix the floor. Another day, I came home from work and there was only one worker at the house painting. I saw the 1st coat from the worker and there was paint running down the wall and he painted OVER the light fixtures. Now I'm not a painter, but I enjoy painting because you should take pride in your work, but come on painting is not hard and you do this for your job! I told him no you need to removed the light fixtures and of course the guy laughs as if he doesn't understand me, but i'm sure he could read my body language at this point. I ended up removing all the light fixtures and getting the paint roller and fixing the running paint. REALLY! Finally, my mom received the check from the insurance to pay for the terrible service, which was over $8,000 (way over priced for what was done). My mom received the check right when my dad passed away and both their names were on the check. My mom contacted the insurance co and advised them that her husband, my dad, passed away and they said they will send a new check and put or instead of and, which was requiring 2 signatures from the bank. Now Travis kept calling my mom harassing her for the check, but my mom wasn't denying or trying to avoid the payment, she was trying to figure out how can the check be cashed because we still don't have the death certificate for proof in order for the insurance and bank to make the changes or accept it. Travis even had the nerve to tell my mom he can meet her at her bank and he will talk to the bank. What the hell, that's none of his business to be at her bank. She was dealing with the passing of my dad in July 2016 and yet you got this guy calling my mom demanding for the payment and she was so stressed out from him being rude to her. My mom even told him she doesn't like dealing with him because he is so rude and pushy. My mom is mellow and she was doing all that she could to get the problem fixed but Mr. Travis kept calling her and harassing her for the check. read more

I would like to give them 0 stars. From the beginning Mitigation Inc/Travis made me feel uneasy about their business practices. I am upset with myself that I let Travis and Tony manipulate me to believing that they had my best interest in mind, when in fact they did not. They knew I was in a vulnerable place with needing the apartment fixed right away and they took advantage of it. When Travis came out to the apartment to give me an estimate/quote before I could agree to the terms of the contract or even get a second to read the entire contract he had his crew working in the apartment and when I asked him to give me an itemized bid he said to email Tony and Tony would provide me with a copy of the bid but Tony never did. I even emailed Tony/Mitigation a couple of times asking for the itemized estimate so I would know what I was going to pay for but they never gave me a respond. Up until the last day of the project-Travis asked me to with meet him for a final walk through of the apartment and that's when he gave me a huge bill of 24k and said I had to pay him right there and then. Long story short not only did they overcharge me by about 10K but we had another leak in the apartment building and Travis refused to fix it unless we gave them more money. Travis and Tony are very sneaky business people. They will steal you blind. After Travis refused to repair the additional damages, he emailed my father using scare tactics such as that the apartment is very old and needs lots of work; so why couldn't they tell us that from the beginning instead of taking our money and then claiming that the building is in bad condition isn't that why we hired them? I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy, please save yourself money, time and lots of stress/frustration and stay away from this Company they lie about 99% of the time. I am not sure who is writing the "good" reviews but all the bad reviews are very similar to my experience so I am not sure who is writing the "good reviews" all I know is that it has been a complete nightmare dealing with Mitigation, Travis and Tony. You know, you probably wouldn't believe what I'm about to say, but believe me, it's all true. Mitigation Inc. is an awesome company. I recently had an issue. I had mold and water damage throughout my apartment. I was gone out of town for over a month. Unaware of the damage that took place in my apartment while I was away. Eventhough, the damage wasn't created by me, I was still worried that it could fall on me. Due to the extensive damage that had been done. I called Mitigation Inc. And they could've easily become a cash cow and took advantage of me. Cause I was ready to spend my life savings just to get this problem fixed. Instead, they told me my rights as a tenant and gave me advice on my next course of action. He also went a step further and said if my manager was trying to get money from me for a problem he was responsible for, to let him know, and he would personally come to my place and inform the property management on my rights! This guy was not about to let me be taken advantage of. Wow! What a class act! I did not end up needing their services because everything worked out between me and my appt. Manager but, when I, if I, ever get my own property and need help, they will be the first company I will call. P.S. Oh yeah, this happened over a week ago. Do you know they followed up with me to make sure I still wasn't being taken advantage of? Where do you get that type of customer service? I'll tell you where... At Mitigation Inc! A year or so ago my the light in my downstairs bathroom fell off the wall I called a handyman to come fix it and he informed me that the light fell off because the upstairs shower was leaking probably because of an improper hot mop. The contractor who had installed the shower insisted that could not be true as the "inspector" had signed off on the paperwork. He then promptly changed his number and I could no longer locate him I had no money to repair so just used the shower in the other bathroom. Fast forward a year. Walked into the kitchen and saw water dripping down the wall. Didn't know who to call and by luck called Mitigation. Travis came out the same day and checked out the entire kitchen and upstairs bath. Tearing the lower kitchen cabinets out revealed a great deal of mold. To make a long story short, Mitigation took care of everything in a very timely manner. Packed up my kitchen, rebuilt the cabinets, treated the mold, redid the upstairs shower to properly re hot mop and removed and replaced the minimum amount of tiles to make the bathroom functional again. All this was done with the minimum amount of disruption to my household Travis handled all communication with my insurance company. I'm very happy with the work Mitigation performed and they will be the first I call if I have the unfortunate luck to have this situation come up again. Thanks Mitigation. read more

Mitigation Inc did a great job in fixing up my house. We had a broken drain pipe from the upstairs 2nd bathroom resulting in damage to the ceiling above the living room, the kitchen cabinets and the wood floor below. We were in distress and then we found Mr. Travis Oke from Mitigation Inc.. He came over the very same evening. The insurance adjuster came out twice to assess the damage. The first time he came alone and the second time he came with four other people, two of whom I believe are contractors. Travis was present at the meeting, making himself available to answer all their questions. I am very impressed with Travis because he is very knowledgeable and most of all doing the right thing for the customer to put the house back in order . His thirty plus years of experience in construction and restoration work has made him very familiar with insurance coverage and regulations. Travis also has an excellent crew that work for him. He respects them and likewise, they respect him. They all work hard at their jobs. Crew members like Alfredo, Guillermo, George and Tony are great people. Thank you to all. This is a follow up to my earlier post. The job is now complete. My wife and I ate happy with the work. The final walk through allowed us to finish the details of the job. Minor paint issues, chips and touch ups were done that really finished off the work...... I can say that mitigation will solve your mold issue and then fix whatever needs to be fixed to upgrade your house. Also of note: Travis is a pretty thorough guy. He pointed out lots of things with the house that may be issues down the line. Even though we were t ready to do those ads ons at this time we appreciated the information so we know what to do in future to avoid anymore problems. read more

Horrific experience!!!! Travis is an absolute crook! I would normally never waste my time to write a review, but I created an account just to warn others considering Mitigation. He took advantage of my family and intimated us by threatening a lean on my home. He charged us an outrageous amount for basic work and even charged for things he did not do. He held our belongings hostage until we paid the ridiculous and fraudulent invoices. I will be reporting them to BBB and other agencies. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! The crew is extremely well trained and paid careful attention to every detail. They arrived promptly at 7 AM and worked until the particular phase of the project was completed. I used Travis and mitigation about a year ago when I had a major leak and damage to my roof and stucco. Mitigation was timely, extremely professional and fixed the leak and did great work. Today I got a frantic call from the babysitter saying the basement was flooded. I called Travis and mitigation again, and they dropped everything and got there in 2 hours. That type of response time is unheard of! They took there time and problem shot, and found the problem. Mitigation Emergency Services had rebuilt my stepmother's kitchen after some extensive water damage. After more than a year an electrical plug-in box, that had been installed as part of the Mitigation rebuild, ceased to work. We called Mitigation and got Tony, their go-to problem solver guy and he sent an electrician out to the house and he did some trouble shooting and he fixed the problem right away.
