Business Owner's idea of customer service
Kristy B.

We were in the area and decided to try out Misty Mountain Hops on our last day in town. Unfortunately, it wasn't long before we wished we had gone to Chester's for the 3rd time instead. It took a good 7 minutes to be acknowledged by any staff and seated. We really should have just walked out at this point and were actually about to do just that when one of the servers finally greeted us and showed us to our seats. Yes, it was a little crowded but there were still plenty of available tables and no real reason why we should have been kept waiting like that. This should have been a sign but we didn't heed it, so we spent the rest of our time there mostly waiting and being annoyed at how little our business seemed to be valued. My husband asked for a second glass of the wine he ordered and that took no less than 15 minutes to come out and he was left to finish his meal without anything to drink. He ended up leaving most of his food because he was so annoyed by the whole thing. The food itself was okay. Not terrible but nothing particularly good either, which made the delayed service even more aggravating. I don't like leaving negative reviews but some places just leave me no choice. They say you only get once chance to make a first impression and this one sucked, so we won't be back and would not recommend it. UPDATE: After posting my review and then almost immediately receiving passive aggressive responses from the business owner both on my review here and a different one through private message (see screenshot in photos) it became glaringly obvious that the two stars I had originally given this establishment were too generous. Seems I hit a nerve since I had the audacity to leave an honest review of my experience. If you can't take genuine criticism without becoming defensive rather than reflective, perhaps you shouldn't be in the hospitality business. To claim you "thrive on customer service" as you prove that your customer service is even worse than originally thought is laughably ironic. This owner denies my experience despite getting the day wrong about when it happened (see the date on the bill before you assume you know better than me on my own experience). They also claim I should have asked for a manager. I have no obligation to ask for a manager or do anything of the sort. I have the right to choose how to respond to bad service and my choice is usually to respond with an honest review and taking my business elsewhere. If they had any intention of "making it right," it should have started with taking accountability in response to my review rather than getting defensive and passive aggressive. Of course, like me, they have no obligation to respond in any particular way but the route they chose only confirmed that the customer service they claim to shine at is more delusional than anything else. I will have the "day I deserve" and you will have the rating you deserve. Thanks for bringing my attention to unwarranted generosity in stars. Adios! UPDATE TO THE BUSINESS OWNER: It seems that to you, someone expressing their genuine review of your establishment constitutes "bullying." I'm glad you "don't do bullies," but you also don't do good customer service, as evidenced by the negative reviews and the childish, unprofessional ways you respond to them. If you spent half as much time trying to improve your operations as you do being an arrogant prick in response to your reviewers, you might have fewer negative reviews to complain about. Not a great way to garner business or support, but I suppose you'll just have to learn that the hard way. Good luck to ya!

Great place to stop when driving through Blue Ridge. Had a late lunch on a Friday afternoon and the place was pretty quiet. We were sat right away. Drinks and food came quick. The bbq chicken sandwich was really good. It was clear they change their frying oil frequently as Tater tots were soft on the inside and crispy on the outside and didn't have that old, burnt oil taste to them. Didn't charge us for our soda and refills were frequent and available

Loved all the food, the atmosphere and the waitresses! We ordered the deviled eggs, SOOOO good!! My burger was amazing too, so much flavor! Highly recommend trying this place!

This 5 star review is in regard to the little nuggets of devilish heaven. We came FOR the fried deviled eggs, and the gods did not disappoint. Go get some. We did the relish/dill topping. Ermagerd.

Big chub and tots

Six of us had a great lunch here. The place is loaded with concert posters throughout the bar. Some of us had been to some of the advertised events. Started the meal by ordering dry ranch chicharrones with cheese dip. Arrived at the table still popping from the fryer. They were delicious. We ordered the big chub, fish and chips, Cobb salad, and a burger. Everyone enjoyed the meals. I had the chub which was fried bologna with cheese on a brioche bun and tots. Our server was great and very friendly. Good lunch spot.

After looking at various restaurants in downtown Blue Ridge, this one caught my eye with the good reviews and live music. Walking in, I noticed there were limited seats but was fortunate enough to be sat right away. I was greeted immediately, and because our server was busy she explained her situation which we understood. I ordered the blackberry smoke burger and the fried deviled eggs. I asked for it to be brought out together and it was so good. I've never had deviled eggs like that and it's such an experience yall need to try. Everything was such a vibe and would highly recommend especially if you're a big local, live music fan!

Is this place dog friendly? Is there outside seating?

When we were there in the fall there didn't appear to be outdoor seating they have a very small parking lot. They were so laid back they probably let you bring the dog inside. Well maybe not, but they probably would if they could.

We were celebrating something special and she made sure our night was memorable. They started us off with the bread, which was absolutely delicious. Get the bread!!!! We ordered the pork belly for an appetizer. It was absolutely delicious. I ordered the shareable mac & cheese, and a salad that I customized. Alyssa went out out of her way to make sure that my salad was just how I wanted it. They were so nice about it. My dining partner ordered the black and blue fillet. It was cooked perfectly and was delicious. We both really loved the macaroni and cheese. They celebrated us with a bread, pudding, dessert and a really sweet card! When they presented the bill, they brought over housemaid chocolates that were absolutely delicious. We loved this restaurant so much and we cannot wait to return!

My friends and I came here for brunch during a visit to Blue Ridge. The ambiance and service were…read morereally wonderful and we were excited for our meal since it was a bit of a splurge for us. The food is the reason for the reduction in stars. We started with the shrimp and scallop fondue, which sounded so much better than it tasted, and the toasted bread it's served with was heavily salted and not enjoyable. My friends had the ribeye and said it was mediocre. I had the shrimp biscuit and only ate a few bites. The BBQ sauce was heavily salted and not pleasant, and the cheddar cheese just seemed like it didn't belong. As a cheese lover, this is the first time in over 60 decades that I've actually removed the cheese from a dish. I took the leftovers with me since I hate wasting food and ate the biscuit with some butter and the shrimp by themselves the next day. It still wasn't very good, but at least I didn't waste it. On the plus side, the cinnamon rolls were absolute delicious and were a bargain at $8 for six! They were the highlight of our meal. We also enjoyed the creme brûlée very much. Since the restaurant is pricey and so many of the dishes were a disappointment, we all agreed that we probably won't return to give it another try. We don't want to risk spending that much money again on a not-so-great meal.

The gal behind the counter was very prompt and courteous and answered my questions about options on the menu. There is a big stove across the bar so you can see some of the cooking that gets done. The only issue with that is the heat...I didn't want my frosty beer glass to warm up while I enjoyed one of their local brews. I'd rather sit away from the cooking action. I ordered the crab cakes which came with coleslaw. The crab cakes had a nice sauce decorating the top of each cake. I asked for more because the crab cakes were a bit more bread filled than crab filled. I know I am spoiled with west coast Dungeness crab as you get a lot of chunks and not well flaked blue crab, but I really was hoping for more crab than I got for the money. The coleslaw was just okay. It was a nice mayo based dressing but lacked a tangy/sweet combo that I just adore. I am not impressed enough to return.
