I can't recommend Mister Poolman enough! I had a very small pool repair project, and had very low expectations that anyone would want to help. Instead, I received an immediate and courteous response from Ryan, followed by the same level of incredible customer service and professionalism that one would expect for a large job! Truly, he made nothing from me, but went beyond and above to help me. I really felt like he cared. I am so grateful, and very happy with the outcome of the project. I wouldn't hesitate using Mister Poolman again for future (hopefully larger) projects. Thank you! read more

I have been working with Ryan at Mister Poolman, and I have nothing but great things to say about his work ethic, communication, attention to detail, and personal skills. This property located in Burbank got a full revamp, and it went off without a hitch! I'd recommend Ryan and Mister Poolman to anyone who wants to redo their pool and spa! The price was more affordable than other vendors in the area, and we are so pleased with the work! I'd give them 10 stars for their customer service alone! Great work Ryan!! read more

This asshole had my review removed. All the negative reviews that claim Ryan is rude, condescending, and a complete asshole are true. We have first had experience of him. Never came out to go over the job, never met with the city inspector I stead he had us meet with them and decided he's going on a "family vacation" how convenient buddy. Destroyed the pool plaster and claimed it was done due to the sun hitting it. Liar, shady, rude, condescending, and fake. Do not hire this clown! read more

I'm on the board of an HOA in the LA area. We needed to replaster our pool and got a few quotes. Ryan's was the most competitive , offered the most for the $$, and he was super clear with how it would work. He kept us updated throughout the process, and made our job as board members easy. The best part is our pool and spa both look spectacular and the community members are all thrilled with the results! We are very thankful to have found Ryan (aka Mister Poolman)!! read more

What a piece of human garbage this guy Ryan Lapa is. Wow where do I start? Super rude, arrogant, and loves to run his mouth and will not let you get a word in. Ryan Lapa aka "Mister Poolman" had his "crew" do work for our building and it was all micky mouse and crap work with absolutely no standards. Not only that he did not finish the work we paid him for. The only time he was at the property was to give a bid, he did not come back to the property after that and only sent guys who were probably unlicensed as they barely spoke English. He was not present during any of the LA County Inspections. We personally had to meet with the inspector because he was "on a family vacation" The skimmer he installed was "the cheapest skimmer on the market, generally not used for commercial pools and missing a few parts". Because he did not install a float valve in the skimmer the water pressure caused $500 worth of damage in the pool room and we had to hire another company to come fix the damage. Some of the home owners at our 51 unit condo complex wrote reviews on his yelp page and he flagged them and had them removed. He also falsely and without any proof accused me of writing the yelp reviews. He has a bunch of 1 star reviews on Yelp from other unhappy customers. Our pool plaster was old and in bad shape and this greedy bastard decided to do an acid wash on it anyway, instead of telling us we don't need an acid wash because it will further destroy the 12 year old plaster. Not only that his acid wash guy did not clean the tile inside the pool and he had the nerve to say "the tile is not included" Do not for any reason hire this Dbag. read more

Mr. Personality! Wow this guy is a DB. - Crew couldn't figure out how to replace a pool light w/ 2 visits - Broke the existing line to the pool light - Ended conversation w/ " I don't like this conversation, good luck with your pool light" read more

Paid beyond retail tens of thousands for them to fix our pool. Ryan and his tech were always very dramatic creating problems where there weren't any when it was a simple fix. I feel ripped off and exhausted from dealing with this company. Ryan is very condescending and over the top. I should've checked the other yelp reviews before hiring them. Beware. UPDATE: Ryan has also just informed me via email in writing that he has no intention of honoring our warranty for the $15,000 worth of work done because I left a bad review. PS precisely the kind of insane and long winded excuse I would expect from Ryan. Maybe that's why you have so many bad reviews about your bizarre attitude. And people would dream of having clients pay what I did and always immediately. read more

I have been managing HOA's for 29 years and worked with many vendors over those years. I am 1000% happy with the work Mister Poolman did for one of my HOA's that needed their spa replastered. The communication was awesome and the job went very smoothly. I will for sure use this company again. read more

Ryan at mister poolman is extremely rude. Tried contacting him on a pool he repaired on a house I'm buying and he was extremely rude and condescending to the point where he asked me if I've ever had a job??! (Sexist much?) Because I didn't understand the shorthand on an invoice he wrote up. And then half the reason I didn't understand was because FYI the pool motor and heater he replaced a few months ago don't work so I assumed it's an estimate for repair. Which of course he yelled at me and said "it's not an estimate, don't you know what an invoice is?" When I told him his rudeness was uncalled for he said he is justified because I called his business asking stupid questions. Later I was shocked when I found out he also services this pool weekly because there is so much debris and leaves in the pool motor and filter that an inspection couldn't even be done. This guy is both mean AND terrible at his job. Omg reading his responses to other people's reviews is insane. My favorite is where he says don't feel bad for the womans money lost on his poor work because she bought a $5m dollar house. Let's see what he says about mine!!! Update: to be clear I first called him and he said he couldn't reveal info and was very mean. I said I totally understand because I did! and then the owner wrote him saying feel free to talk to her. So I called again. After multiple jabs at me I eventually lost my cool and told him he's rude when he asked me if I've had a job. This has nothing to do with the 1st call where he said he can't talk to me - I told him that makes sense. Although in retrospect it was just about his incompetence. read more

Arrogant, condescending and unfriendly! Ended up with this as the pool company for a client's property that we manage. The monthly bills kept going up, yet we paid them, but when the client asked us to confirm that they were actually showing up, Ryan got extremely defensive and verbally abusive. Had no problem finding someone else who appreciates the business and will actually show up. Ryan's abusive attitude won't be missed! read more

Incredibly surprised by any negative reviews at all! This is long overdue but Ryan and his team have been nothing but kind and professional on the numerous occasions we have had them out to repair/replace things on our pool. They have re-plastered, re-tiled, fixed cracks, replaced filter and replaced pump. Their prices are incredibly competitive and their work is outstanding. They have even come back to check on work after-the-fact and have been a great resource when we had questions about our pool maintenance. We have been extremely happy and have recommend them to several friends! read more

Our Homeowners Association hired Mister Poolman to bring our pool in compliance with federal law regarding the pool drain and to replace the skimmer. The work required plan approval by the LA County Department of Public Health. While waiting for approval of the plans the workers got started performing tasks not covered by the plans. Mister Poolman kept us updated at all times. The workers were professional at all times. I later accompanied the health department employee during her inspection of the work by Mister Poolman. At the end, she gave verbal approval of the work. I too was surprised by the negative comments. Ryan was extremely forthcoming in providing status when waiting for health department approval of the plans and later scheduling the inspection of the completed work. Ryan went out of his way to reach out and make sure our HOA board of directors were pleased with the work performed by his company. And we were. I'd strongly recommend Mister Poolman. read more

Wow! What an unbelievably rude person! Note to others: they don't service Santa Monica. I called to ask if they service condominium associations since our building in SM is looking for a new pool man. This was one of the most bizarre calls to a potential vendor I have ever had. Instead of being professional and just telling me they don't Service Santa Monica he almost started to yell at me how he's running a small business and is missing calls because of my inquiry call. There is something very wrong with this business. Edit: As a response to the owner's reply to my review: you are grossly misrepresenting the content of the phone call. There is a reason why other people on Yelp have commented how rude you are. I would suggest some self-reflection and you'd get better Yelp reviews. Don't blame the customer on your actions. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I had Ryan AKA- 'Mister Poolman' for several years. Unfortunately, his service has been steadily deteriorating, very chaotic and unpredictable. To be honest, it was never particularly good, it was more like he was always just 'getting by' with the least amount he could. Pool was frequently very dirty, things weren't working well. If I got fed up, service might get better for a month or so. We have contracted with a new person now for the last several months, and it's like night and day. Update: I have removed the review of Mr. Poolman of Covina- the company names are identical, which is why I gave the negative review to the Covina company of the same name. My name on Yelp is simply different because it's not my real name. I stand by my one star review of Ryan's company, Mr. Poolman. read more

We needed a new pump, found the wrong M. Poolman (with disappointing results,) and then chanced upon Ryan. He sent someone right away, advised us, sold us a unit at a fair price and got it installed, got us into a DWP refund program, and when the refund was not rapidly forthcoming, contacted the utility on our behalf. He was responsive, patient and proactive and went beyond what he was obligated to do.. We have kept our long time pool service man, who was doing fine, but Ryan is the man for us for equipment and advice. David and Elaine read more

Did a full re-plaster and tile in the time promised and a fair price. Ryan is pleasant to deal with and good with communication.

Highly recommended. We had our plaster replaced with pebble and Ryan did a fabulous job for us. He was reliable, very informative and communicated very effectively through the entire process. I cannot say enough how pleasant Ryan made this experience and the results were incredible. This company does things to prep the job and after care that nobody else does. These guys know what they're doing. Very happy. read more

These guys are fabulous. We needed a new air flow in our pool heater around Christmastime and Ryan did not hesitate to get us set up. He made sure that he was in constant contact with me and our job was completed within a few days. Professional, conscientious and reasonable. Highly recommend these guys to anyone. read more

We have been using Mr. Poolman for about 2 years. They took over a spa and 2 rental pools. Honestly, the 2 rental pools were in fairly poor shape. They were able to clean them up within 2 visits, and all 3 are now sparkly clear, clean, and properly cared for. In the rare case when an issue arises, they are quick to respond and truly care about the quality of the service provided. We will continue using Mr. Poolman due to the good service, good quality, and high level of expertise. read more

Ryan and his crew were incredible! We needed a full re-plaster and re tile of the pool and also a crack needed to be repaired too. Extremely efficient and great work. It was all done in less than 5 days and also included a start up which many other companies charge extra for. the white plaster actually looks beautiful and gives the pool a nice ice blue tinge. Looks like a resort pool now! Great, clean and highly recommended! read more
