This was my first time hiring 2 Sons Plumbing & Sewer. I picked them due to their immediate…read moreavailability, flexibility for doing two separate plumbing jobs on one visit, and positive reviews on Yelp. The work I needed done was the installation of a 50-gal electric hot water heater (plus haul away of the old one) and the diagnosis/replacement of a corroded waste line connector for a garbage disposal. When I set up my appointment, I made sure to clarify that I wasn't going to be charged for the service visit, or additionally, for any diagnostic steps. Keep this in mind if you're considering them because it's probably a better idea to go with a plumbing company that won't charge you just to come out and physically look at the work you want done. Unfortunately, I was in a hurry, not because something was broken, but due to the fact that completing the work quickly was pivotal to getting a condo sale to the finish line. I was able to schedule my appointment for as early as Monday despite making the initial contact with 2 Sons Plumbing on Thursday (they could've come sooner, but I opted to avoid the extra "rush" or weekend fees by waiting until Monday). One thing I didn't like about their business model is there's no upfront cost for general jobs (i.e., install a hot water heater) or any idea of hourly charges. For instance, with Lowe's and/or Home Depot, I could call and get quotes for this type of work from their subcontractors. Going through Fast Water Heater (Lowe's preferred subcontractor), a 50-gal water heater installation might run between $2,200 and $2,400 depending on the model of hot water heater (the purchase of which is included in the quote). I ended up buying a new water heater from Home Depot ($871 after taxes) a couple of days prior to my appointment with 2 Sons Plumbing, and hauling it up a few flights of stairs to the condo in order to save money. I would later find out that, had I bought the 50-gal electric water heater carried in the back of the 2 Sons Plumbing Truck, it would've cost $3600 (I have no idea why it was this expensive). In the end, I paid 2 Sons Plumbing $1870 after taxes for the installation of the Home Depot Water Heater and haul-away of my old one ($2700+ if you include the price of the hot water heater I bought on my own). In addition to the hot water heater install, I ended up paying for a new garbage disposal plus its installation because the corrosion in the waste line was so bad that new parts were needed (which they didn't have). It made more sense to just replace the whole thing (current garbage disposal was 10+ years old)--This came out to $786.88 after taxes and a 3% convenience fee for using a credit card. Overall, it was a good experience thanks to the knowledge/prep work I had done for 2 Sons Plumbing before going with them. The final cost to me certainly had the potential to be much higher had I let 2 Sons Plumbing provide or do everything. The job took about 6 hours to complete, and I paid in the ballpark of $2500 for the hourly rates (?) plus the purchase of a basic garbage disposal and a minuscule amount of parts. I overheard that the general hourly rate is $400, so what I paid aligns with that. The amount of contact and post-job follow up documentation I received (emails; texts; invoices; etc.) was thorough but also annoying (I.e., solicitation for reviews). All things considered, here's how I'd rate things: Availability/Communication: 5/5 Cost: 2/5 Technician: 5/5 Invoice/Follow-up: 3/5

I will not use Robinson Plumbing ever again. They bundle and astronomically inflate the cost of…read morerepairs, especially compared to independent local businesses. They do not provide an itemized breakdown of charges before or after the service to help clarify what you paid for. The receipt showed one bundled flat rate of $760 for three items and service. In total, I was charged $800 for replacing a flapper, flush valve, and fill valve for my toilet. Alone, these three products cost around $50. The length of the repair/service was less than 45-minutes. While I appreciated the same-day service, 1-year warranty, and customer courtesy of the technician, the corporate overhead charges for under an hour of labor and less than $50 in retail parts are predatory and equate to an astronomical hourly rate. Even the technician told me I could fix this problem on my own and demonstrated how to fix it in the future. I have been a loyal customer with Robinson Plumbing and wanted to use them as a reputable local brand. I trusted the technician's expertise in a stressful moment, but looking into standard plumbing rates following the estimate, it is clear they have thrived on a lack of transparency with customers and overcharged people for 40 years (a reputable plumber the manager told me). The manager offered me a 5% discount for my troubles, which would have amounted to $40 off my $800 bill. I appreciated the gesture, but felt it was insulting and did not fairly resolve my concerns as a loyal customer. Robinson's secretive bundled pricing, extremely high inflation, and stubborn manager make it impossible for me to recommend their company to neighbors, friends, colleagues, or my family.
