This is a very small bakery but, there were many ppl in line so I figured it would be pretty good. I went in for something sweet as it was about 8 in the morning but, there were scones, fresh out of the oven that I had to try. I got the cheddar and chive scones. OmG. So warm and good. Crisp edges and soft and fluffy everywhere else. I ate it in minutes. This would go amazing with a side of pasta. My goodness. 10 out of 10. When I am back in the area, I'll try a warm Blueberry scone.

We were lucky enough to snag some goodies and got a bit of everything, we just weren't patient enough to wait to photograph everything. We did the Za'atar Gruyère Croissant, chocolate croissant, the cheese biscuit item they had (don't remember exact name) and the sfogliatelle. I'm in search of the best croissant in DC, so I regret not getting the regular croissant on this visit, but the chocolate croissant gave me an idea of what to expect. Buttery, flaky, crispy, with just the perfect amount of sweetness. The typical chocolate croissant was my personal favorite. When we asked what the most popular items were, we were surprised it wasn't the more classic bakery items, but we enjoyed what we tried. We want to go back soon to try some other items as well. My friend got a coffee and also enjoyed that! This is the perfect place to stop by for a treat if you make it in time!

Staffs are friendly and fast service. Consider they are mainly bread, pastries and coffee bar, it makes sense for the fast turnover. I'm actually surprised they have more than pastries and offer sandwiches too! Def coming back for it. I got a loaf of bread, some pastries and a flat white - Great! I only had their mushroom danish and plain croissant for now - it's definitely what I assumed it would be - Amazing in quality and taste! It reminds me of a bakery in Seattle, where it's all artisan breads and pastries w highest quality and visuals. (I mean, when it looks beautiful, it already add a point!) This is a rare find in DC! We have sooo many bakeries/ cafes but I'd say none really consider the real artisan style pastries and bread... You'll have to visit out of DC (VA or MD) to get similar.. so good to know there's Seylou here representing! Flat white with whole milk is decent, dialed and steamed well. No complaint! I will come back for their sweet syrup drinks and try for sure. Now that I can walk here from work... It will be hard not to come as a regular! If you like passionate baker's pastries, and willing to pay that price for the cause, this is definitely a must go!

It was also one of the only feasible options to order as the majority of the pastries were terribly burnt. I really wanted to try the monkey bread, but all of them looked completely burnt so I passed on ordering that. The lattes were just plain bad. My first order was not drinkable as the espresso was completely burnt. I switched it for another latte and that one was at tolerable at best but I found myself struggling to finish it (it was also still slightly burnt). My friend had the same experience with their latte, completely not drinkable. Theirs tasted absolutely horrid, I didn't realize drinks could taste that bad... they had to switch it out, again for another subpar but actually drinkable drink. Terrible experience, likely my first and last time coming here.

Atmosphere is homey and cafe like, walls are dotted with Azerbaijani crafts and geography. Glad to see a family run business (niece at the counter and aunt cooking inside) running things smoothly. Vegetarian Gutab 5/5-freshly made crepe like flatbread stuffed with greens and served with Labneh. Lightly dusted on the outside with a sumac like herb, the greens inside were fresh. Mushroom filled pastry 5/5-uses their signature flaky dough similar but lighter than a borek dough. Filled end to end, no empty pockets which is a good sign! Cheese Khachapuri-5/5-Not to be confused with the Georgian flatbread khachapuri, this uses the same borek like flaky dough, stuffed with cheese. Cheese is milder than feta, again a good thing! Mixed Greens filled pastry 5/5--same as above, greens and cheese instead of mushrooms. Shakarbura-5/5-delightful moon crescents like the north indian Gujiya, stuffed with nuts yet not overly sweet like baklava. Honey Cake--5/5-worth the hype, layers are gorgeously thin with tender honey and cream. Not too creamy or sweet. Apricot cake--4/5-could do with less preserves and cream, even then on the drier side. Would love to be back to try breakfast items.

Unfortunately, the location in DC has permanently closed and we were still very much in the mood for some pastries... my cousin who is French has previously sang the praises of this Lil French pastry shop, so of course I had to give it a try. I am so happy that I did because I truly believe that I have stumbled upon my new favorite pastry shop in the area! Upon walking in the smell of croissants and almonds and sweet, sweet delicacies filled my nostrils. I basically became the human version of Remy from ratatouille inhaling a delicious bouillabaisse simmering on the stove top for hours....seeing colors and flavors so bright and intoxicating I simply had to have it I walked in and my eyes were instantly attracted to so many delicious options from classics like Palmiers and Napoleons to some unique flavor combos I've never tried before combined like raspberry and pistachio. Of course, I decided to grab a little bit of everything to make an accurate assessment as a YELP Elite should!! My favorite hands-down was the Berry Millefuille. The way the pastry crumbled in my mouth with every bite, combined with the tart, fresh raspberries, and thick flavorful custard.... Was worth every penny. Honorable mentions go to the peach rosemary tart, which was so unique with the added botanical of rosemary with some fresh sweet peach slices on top and a very crunchy tart base. We all enjoyed everything we purchased! I also ordered one of their seasonal specialties, the rosemary latte with skim milk and iced. The flavors were so uniquely crafted to where you could taste everything but everything combined together for the perfect sip. The ladies who greeted us at the cash register were so patient, so kind, and so understanding of my excitement and difficulty deciding and they even helped me add on a little chocolate happy birthday rectangle to the pastry I purchased for my husband! Without a doubt, this is only the first of the many times I will visit the establishment. It was so authentic, so delicious and passed all the vibe checks even from the French side of the family. I was told I have to return when they first open to have a fresh croissant and a fresh baguette that is on par with what you would have in Paris. Even the items in the fridge were made in France and were delicious fruit nectars that were very unique- we purchased a passionfruit nectar that didn't even make it past the doors before we had completely inhaled it and purchased a lychee nectar for later. I am so excited to have learned about this establishment and believe me when I say you must run, not walk, to experience it for yourself. Note- The dine in area inside the establishment is limited to a couple small tables. Definitely not equipped for large parties and a couple outdoor seatings right outside.

As someone who works in the industry and is very familiar with coffee and coffee shops, I was genuinely shocked by how rude and unprofessional the staff was. I ordered a house latte with an extra double shot, which made it a quad shot, and I also paid for extra ice and requested that it be served in a large cup. It wasn't a complicated order. When I saw a drink come up, I politely asked, "Is that mine by any chance?" The barista immediately told me to "hush" and said, "I'm not talking to you." I found that incredibly disrespectful and completely unacceptable. When my drink was finally handed to me, I simply asked if the quad shot had been added since I had paid extra for it. Instead of answering my question, the barista ignored me entirely, and another employee had to respond. The employee, Taleisha Young, who was wearing glasses, was especially rude throughout the interaction. No customer should be spoken to that way, especially when they're simply asking about an order they paid extra to customize. Customer service and professionalism should be a priority, and this experience fell far below that standard. Unfortunately, I will not be returning, and I will be sharing my experience on other review platforms as well. I hope management addresses the behavior of its staff so other customers don't have a similar experience.
