4.5 Stars I've eaten at Mission 4x now and here's some highlights others may not have yet shared: 1. Food comes out fast! But is 'close to' the quality of a sit-down restaurant, so that's a nice combo. 2. Meat is super lean. Pork and chicken are juicy. Beef brisket was a tiny bit dry but great flavor and zero fat. Nice if you're looking for a healthier bbq. 3. They would benefit from an upgrade in bun quality and size.. even 10-20% would be nice. Potato buns are soft and taste good but a bit squishy. 4. The fries taste like 5 Guys' w/o the grease. :D 5. A Green Salad, please!! The broccoli salad is in a heavy cream sauce with shredded cheddar.. while it tastes good, it's quite heavy and it's the only salad option. Not everyone can handle all those rich sides. I think a diabetic would find the menu challenging, beyond the meat. 6. The potatoes in the potato salad taste like baked potatoes. Yum. 7. The baked beans have chunks of both pork and brisket in them. Yum2. 8. Turn down the music! Very difficult to comfortably have a conversation inside the restaurant. The outside picnic tables are a quieter option, if you don't mind the occasional fly or mosquito buzzing around you. 9. The place is freezing!! They keep it VERY cold. Take a sweater. Take a scarf. Take foot warmers.. Yikes, and there are vents EVERYwhere.. over every table. 10. The staff is vegetarian. Okay, at least the girl who waited on us is. When I asked for a recommendation, she replied, "I couldn't tell you, I don't eat meat". STILL laughing. :D 11. Your first visit will be your favorite. It's a fun place your first time. And you'll be impressed with the quality compared to other fast food options. On the second or third time back, you'll start to notice the actual food more, since you've grown familiar w/ the environment and the novelty of their approach. This is when you most notice that the meat is very good quality and that's most of what you're paying for. 12. Cost is $12-20/person, on average. A sandwich combo w/ 1 side and drink (with tax) will set you back around $15. Fries will give you the most bang for your buck. The baked beans, potato salad, etc. come in what looks like 1/2 c. size Don't upsize your drink if you eat-in... Refills are FREE! 13. You will almost always see a veteran eating there during your visit. I love this. They seem proud and comfortable in the environment. Say HELLO and THANK YOU. You wouldn't have the freedom to eat there, if it wasn't for their service. :) Veterans have special parking spots. (Take that, Wegmans.) Mission BBQ is DEFINITELY a must try!! read more

I don't understand all the hype. We got off to a bad start. I phoned in my order at 3:50 for a 4:30 pick up. They indicated no problem. When I arrived on time, they had the order in their computer, but hadn't done anything with it. We stood waiting for 10 minutes for our order, just as if we hadn't called it in. Ribs were good with the meat falling off the bone. The baked beans were tasty. The brisket was a bitter disappointment. It was served chopped into dry and sometimes crunchy sawdust. The menu says the brisket is "Texas inspired". I lived in Texas. You'd get run out of state for serving this. I fondly remember, juicy and smoky brisket. This wasn't that. In Texas, you'd sometimes get chopped brisket in a sandwich, but sliced for an entree. read more

Some good bbq!! For being a fast casual spot the food was pretty fresh and tasty! Prices weren't bad either, it's actually cheaper than some of the other bbq spots here in Rochester and delivers quality taste, so there's gonna be some competition for sure! I didn't realize this was a fast causal restaurant, you place your order at the cash register and they will call out your name when it's ready. I don't know if we caught them on a bad night but I did not enjoy the food here. Pulled pork was flavorless and had a stringy rubbery texture, turkey also no flavor. Sides were just ok fries were the best part of the entire meal mac and cheese was dry, baked beans were sickingly sweet. The sauce were ok, my favorite was the one with old bay in it. I was excited to try out this location as there was one nearby when I lived in Virginia. We would use them for catering for our RWB events, given the shared mission to support veterans. We got takeout here only a week or two after they opened so I'm grading them on a curve as in normal circumstances it wouldn't be acceptable. We placed an order online and then their systems crashed. That happens. However, we ended up waiting over half an hour for our food once we arrived because they took in person orders over ones that had previously been submitted online. They also didn't have a backup to take payment. Once we got home we were able to enjoy delicious, if overly salted bbq. Looking forward to trying again once they have more experience under their belts. read more

On July 20th, our office won a free lunch from the Mission BBQ Henrietta location. We were surprised when they arrived right at noon with enough food and drink to feed our entire corporate staff of 20 employees (and there were enough leftovers for many of us to have the next day). We had pulled pork, chicken, spicy sausage, baked beans, mac & cheese, green beans, potato salad, and coleslaw, along with lemonade and sweet tea. Everything was fabulous! The rolls and cornbread were super fresh, and all the food tasted great - flavorful with just enough spice to it for all. They also supplied us with generous samples of their various BBQ sauces - all were great. We will definitely be ordering from Mission again sometime soon and hope to also use them in the future for a company wide (larger scale) event. Their employee who delivered talked a little about the franchise's "mission" of supporting the armed forces, law enforcement, first alert workers, etc. Definitely a business worthy of supporting! read more

Can't say enough good things about the crew at this Mission BBQ location. I called for a large order without much notice. And pickup time was "when the baseball game is over" - they went out of their way and figured out how to accommodate us. They bent over backwards to make it happen. Food was hot, packed exactly how I asked and everyone loved it! They even packed more than enough sauces, clearly labelled and everyone had fun picking their favorites. Food is pretty good - hard to compete with Sticky Lips and Dinosaur BBQ but they hold their own! Sides were a bit on the small side but still very yummy. Delicious food with a great atmosphere! I went there for Veterans Day and immediately felt at home in this fantastic space. The food is fantastic, from the juicy fresh BBQ to the "tastes like home" sides. I haven't had anything bad here in our subsequent visits. Love the craft soda cooler! Amazing food and service! We brought our little one out on a date night with us and had a great time! Staff was so helpful and kind and interacted with us so positively. Ate here for the first time today and was not disappointed!!!!! The staff greets you as you walk in, they are extremely polite and friendly; the management even takes the time to explain the cooking process to the customers. The food is AMAZING and the portions are generous; you definitely get your moneys worth here. They are kind of military and first responder affiliated, so there is tons of memorabilia all over the restaurant. Also every day at noon, they play the National Anthem and everyone stands and sings along; will definitely eat here again!!!!!! read more

Portions very small. Puiled pork and pulled chicken was salty. Service was decent. Please increase portion sizes and decrease the salt.

The atmosphere is ok and from the decor you would think they support vets. I am a vet and asked for a veterans discount, they don't have one. Just had my first adventure at Mission BBQ and boy am I happy camper. First off lets start with just the aroma when you walk in. Nothing burnt or overcooked, just delicious smells to make your mouth water. My wife and I got the 3 meat combo pulled pork, sausage, and juicy brisket. We also got the 5 bones bay-b-back ribs which were as fall off the bone as you could get. The smoke on the ribs was some of the best flavor I have had and was shocked this came from a 'chain' bbq joint. The Brisket was my favorite and was tender and juicy. We also got a full selection of the sauces. My favorite was the Carolina Vinegar and smoky mountain. The rest were good. I loved the cornbread with pieces of corn in it. The service was great as we did a take out. It took a few min to figure out how to bypass the line as this is a cafeteria style where you stand in line, order and then pick up and sit down. If you order ahead you have to 'budge' in the line and find the one unmarked register to handle your take out order. I am sure this will improve as time goes on. The best is when your order is ready they don't just shove it in a bag and say have a nice day. They actually review what your ordered, show it to you, and then make sure you are happy. I have never seen this done before as I have left many a place where I had to trust what they packed up and when I got home found out the order was incorrect. Looking forward to many more meals here as I will make it my mission to eat my way through the menu. read more

I was really looking forward to trying this place. It was a Friday around 6. I ordered ribs and a side of baked beans. It seemed that they ran out of ribs bc all the cooks in the back were just standing there not doing anything as if they were waiting for something. And there was about 10 of us on the other side of the counter just standing there too, just looking at them as they looked at us! It was really weird. So after about 10 minutes of standing around, the cooked meat came out and our orders were finally filled! The manager took the time to tell me about the rub and cooking method they used when I picked up my order. But at that point I didn't care; I was hungry and there were other people waiting! I took my food and sat down. The baked beans were the best I've ever had. They had chunks of brisket in them. WOW were they good! BUT the ribs were awful!!! They were dry and over cooked but that wasn't the worst part. The worst part was that the "rub" they use was so salty, not even drowning them in BBQ sauce could cut thru all that salt!! They don't put any wet sauce on the ribs when they're smoked; the customers get to pick the sauces after they're done. I don't know if I'd take the chance and go back to order something different especially if they use that over-saltly dry rub on the other meats. I like salty foods but this was WAY TOO MUCH salt and it ruined the flavor. read more

I have been a huge fan of dino bbq so I was excited to go to Mission BBQ. Before you think I am biased or that I am writing to promote dino bbq, I would just like to point out that I am a student so I have nothing to gain here. I ordered the brisket with mac and cheese and I was very disappointed. To be fair, in comparing dino bbq and mission bbq , it's important to note that dino bbq is 8 dollars more expensive. However, you can definitely tell that you're getting a cheaper meal at Mission BBQ because the quality is nowhere near as good. I was fair by getting moist brisket, mac and cheese, and cornbread. I compared this with the brisket plate at Dino which comes with brisket and two sides which were cajun corn and mac and cheese along with a piece of cornbread. Brisket was comparable but definitely less on terms of portions and it doesn't come with the peppers that dino comes with. Also I felt like it was less moist than Dino bbq. Mac and cheese tasted artificial. Cheese seemed very thin and tasted a tad bland and less cheesy compared to the thicker and tastier dino bbq mac and cheese. Finally the corn bread. This was very noticeable. Mission bbq corn bread was much more sugary and less full of that corn flavor. I believe that dino probably grills the corn bread and goes a bit easier on the sugar which makes it much better hands down. It's a very noticable difference. In the end I spent 8 bucks less at mission BBQ compared to Dino BBQ and honestly I think it wasn't worth the discount. Very disappointing. read more
