My favorite BBQ north of Texas. Normally a very pleasant experience, especially the sliced brisket. As a veteran, the ambiance and tribute to first responders and veterans reserves its spot as my favorite BBQ place. Hopefully management will take heed to my most recent experience last Saturday. It was a family gathering, with at least ten in our party. There were several things that seemed off. First for a Saturday nite, hardly anyone was there. Second the cashier taking the order was very slow. Third, my request for a "moist cut" of brisket was answered by, "we don't offer that anymore. However, the menu still displayed the option. My sliced brisket sandwich was mostly fat and not very much of it. The bun seemed smaller, but I'm not sure. Early $20 for a sandwich, fries and fountain drink; definitely missed its mark this time. They REDEEMED my faith in this location!... I am so happy! I was able to get my favorite beef brisket sandwich that was prepared and served properly as it should be so juicy and flavorful that it melted on the bread, it is exactly how I love it. The service was unreal. Best customer service I've ever had at a restaurant. Everyone was friendly, personable, and knowledgeable about the menu and food items. The employees went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of and checked on us multiple times. We were rewarded for being 1st time customers (you'll have to go in order to find out what the reward(s) were. It wasn't the best bbq we've ever had but it was very tasty. The brisket could have been more moist, along with the cornbread and turkey. The pulled pork was a treat, and everything else we tried was on course. All of the 10 or so sauces we tried were very good as well. The 5 stars is mostly for the experience and customer service which was exceptional. The food was closer to a 4. This place is absolutely amazing! The flavor of the meat is glorious, the sweet tea is refreshing, customer service is beyond anything I'd EVER experienced. This is my 1st time here and it was fantastic. My wife and I were greeted as soon as we walked in. Menu is short and sweet. Food took 7 minutes from ordering with about 6 people ahead of us. It is a bit pricey but the bbq, choices of sauces and atmosphere are different and better than anything else I have had. BUT WHY a TOOL Cabinet for lids, straws etc . Talk about just a terrible decision to keep it even after still dealing with COVID. Not to mention it's a pain in the ass and creates a traffic jam since it's not user friendly, it's like trying to find my DAMN 10mm socket !! read more

For a first time coming in to this restaurant you get a very good vibe coming in service is really amazing after we sit down and get our food there was this really nice lady asking if everything was ok also after you finish eating someone also comes to get your table clean which is something you don't see at any restaurant. I got a brisket sandwich and the meat was very soft very good, the people I came with got briskets meat comes off the bone so smooth. Large selection on sauces I preferred "Memphis belle" sweet and smoky just how I like it a lot of people have different tastes and likings. But their beef brisket is where it's at, the fatty the better, so order moist. I did get a sample of their cornbread (probably needs honey) their side salad is good, crisp and fresh. I got take out from here earlier today. I ordered the pulled pork - NC style, 2 sides of Mac n cheese, green beans & bacon, green salad, and 2 craft sodas. The food was really tasty and flavorful. The staff was super nice and efficient. I like the super American pride and military tribute displayed my thus company. I think it's a great concept. I really like that they had veteran parking and free food for veterans on 11/11. Anything that supports the troops and they have me sold. The restaurant was very clean and modern. I would say this place is acceptable. Not great, but if you're close by then sure. I was concerned when I pulled in and it was in the parking lot of a mall. My concerns were reaffirmed when I tried the food. I personally prefer the smaller mom and pop BBQ joints. This definitely has the chain feel and flavor. While I appreciate the support of our armed forces and front row parking for veterans, it seemed like that was the emphasis instead of the food. Brisket was a little pricier than expected at $21 a lb. However they do differentiate lean vs "moist" brisket which most just call for what it is, fatty brisket. The fatty brisket was decent, tender, eat with a fork. Smokey flavor was somewhat lacking IMHO. Sauce was mediocre as were the baked beans. Honestly my favorite thing here was the green beans! I really liked the bacon and they had me excited for more. Being from out of town, I don't think I'd come back here. Especially with Big Eds just down the road which is phenomenal. read more

Starting from the order taker who explained all about their fresh foods - no precooked, frozen, etc. The home cut fries are amazing BTW. The food still came very quick and was everything and beyond what I expect from a great BBQ joint. 11 sauces that run the full spectrum. Visited by a manager who I saw checking in with each table. Explained I was from out of town and first trying the place. Took the time to explain the entire company and their methods, etc. The icing on the cake was her coming back and bringing me her favorite desert on a tray as shown in the picture. While does that?! Everything was delicious. I don't have a favorite. The brisket both lean and "moist" were phenomenal. The dry rub was enough and didn't need Bbq sauce. The pulled pork was cooked to perfection. Separated or pulled like they actually care about what they're serving. And the jalapeño sausage was great! Oh how I just love everything about this place... After some holiday shopping at Gurnee Mills mall, hubby and I picked up some BBQ to-go for Christmas dinner. With a mission to support those who serve to protect our country, we couldn't think of a better way to give back and treat our family with some of our favorite BBQ. For the first time ever we ordered their bulk meats. You have to order a minimum of a 1/2 lb., and we ordered up some beef brisket, turkey, and pulled pork. They were kind enough to put everything in tinfoil serving pans so I could just pop everything in the oven and reheat it for dinner. Soooo easy peasy! Everything was perfect. We bought some buns from the grocery store and made sandwiches, and the other meats we served as is with some of our own sides (why we didn't order their amazing potato salad, I have no idea). Side note, my hubby, who ordered the turkey, said he wishes he would have tried the chicken. The turkey was a little hard to keep moist after reheating, but he reassured me the flavor was delicious. The other meats were still very moist. I did order the beef brisket wet, and I'm glad I did. Don't forget to order sauce! They have sauces labeled and ready to go. Just ask for what you want, and they put it in the bag for you. For the ride home we ordered up some of the seasoned fries and the best lemonade...ever. The fries were a little too seasoned for us, but that made the lemonade all the more necessary. Have you tried their lemonade? It's perfectly sweet. I don't know what's in the recipe, but it reminds me of old fashioned lemonade you might expect at a country picnic. The friendliest staff in the whole wide world! I went on my birthday and since I hadn't registered yet;I figured I wouldn't get the free meal, but they went ahead and did it.
