Fried chicken combo with fries - The image shows a tray with fried chicken pieces, crinkle-cut fries wrapped in paper, and a cornbread muffin, accompanied by a black plastic fork. In the background, there is a small cup of ketchup, a white drink cup, and a tray with foil-wrapped food. The setting appears to be a casual dining restaurant with a wooden table.

Stopped at Test Kitchen BBQ today for lunch. It was my first visit. The staff was very welcoming, offering us samples of several of the meats being served. I was overwhelmed by the number of options on the menu, and also confused about the differences between the combos, boxes, plates. I went with the fried chicken, which was delicious. My dad had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich and collared greens and really enjoyed it. I got the biggest serving of fries with my chicken. I had a real problem with the ketchup they offer for fries, it's a no-name brand and it was gross. I'd like to go back and try the fried shrimp next time. (I'll take it to go, so I can have my home ketchup.) Definitely worth a visit!

Rib tip L, corn pudding, black eyed peas, bourbon sauce, corn bread, and pickles!

Been there twice now and seems like mostly regulars are coming in. Always a super friendly greeting when you walk in, and if it's your first time, well, "you're in need of a sample". Their brisket is perfectly jiggly-juicy so highly recommended! A big menu and haven't found anything I didn't love yet.

Menu - Two digital menu screens are mounted above a restaurant counter, displaying food options, prices, and sides such as egg dishes, sandwiches, and sides like baked beans and coleslaw. Below the screens, beverage dispensers and kitchen equipment are visible, indicating a food service setting.

Tonight was our first experience at Test Kitchen BBQ and while the menu is expansive and the staff was nice and friendly, the food was just ok. We ordered the Medium Turkey Plate ($11.99)with sides of Cole slaw and mashed potatoes and the Medium Brisket plate ($13.99) with sides of baked Mac n cheese and baked beans. We also ordered an extra small side of corn fritters. The brisket (we asked for lean) was quite fatty. In fact half of it was fat. The flavor of the meat didn't require bbq sauce so that's a plus...but when half the plate is fat, that's not appetizing. The baked beans were tasty. The Mac n cheese was pretty bland. The Turkey was moist and flavorful but also fatty. The mashed potatoes were excellent and the Cole slaw was pretty tasty. The corn fritters were really good.

Rib tips, brisket, and cornbread - The image shows a person dining at a restaurant with a spread of barbecue dishes. The person is holding a fork and wearing a dark jacket with a small logo. The table features foil-wrapped ribs, cornbread muffins, a bowl of soup, and small containers of sauces and sides. The setting appears casual, with a brick wall in the background and a variety of food items typical of barbecue cuisine.

Flew in town for wife's siblings Navy graduation, and was hungry looking for a place to eat. Found this lovely place close by to the hotel. Stacy greeted us and we said it was our first time. She instantly offered samples of what meats there were available to help us make a decision. Not just Stacy, the whole staff was friendly. We got the rib-tip and brisket with sides of baked Mac and cheese, rice and beans, potato salad, and collard greens. Food was so good we finished everything. Definitely will stop by again when we are ever in town again.

Large Rib Dinner. Enough food for 2, but I was greedy! *oink* - A barbecue meal includes smoked pork ribs with a dark, caramelized exterior, two cornbread muffins, and sliced pickles on a foil-lined tray. A small container of barbecue sauce is also visible. The food is arranged for takeout, with the ribs showing a smoky crust and moist interior, complemented by the muffins and pickles.

I don't understand how their pork shoulder is MOIST! I've never had moist pulled pork from a BBQ…read moreplace before. Not even in Texas! They must either mix their own mild sauce or have it made just for Hillery's because it wasn't some cheap, off the shelf crap just to marginally fit a function. I wish I'd have known ahead of time so I could have gotten more (someone made a lunch run since there is no delivery). I don't really have words for the rib tips other than OH MY F****** GAWD! How the heck does someone have rib tips that meaty, that dense, that tender? Even reheated, they rock!

Inside, it's nothing fancy. You pretty much place your order at the counter and wait around for your food. No tables or chairs to sit at, so basically it's just a takeout place. Looks like they do cater as they have different sized pans on display for you to see how much food it can fit for your party size. I was craving some bbq and some sides such as Mac n cheese and collard greens and was disappointed that they did not carry either or. Their main sides were fries, coleslaw, and fried okra from what I can remember. I decided to go with the rib tips dinner. I ordered the extra large portion as I was going to share with the hubby. Took about 15 minutes for my food to be ready, so not bad. It came with fries, coleslaw, and 2 pieces of bread for a total of $20. The rib tips were 'aight. The meat was a little tough to chew and not falling off the bone as I normally like. Also, they were cut in huge chunks and not really in bite sized pieces. The sauce was okay but it did not really blow me away and neither did the coleslaw. The fries were pretty bland as well and could have used some more salt or seasoning. It didn't even come with ketchup in my carry out bag. Overall it was meh. I still would like to try their wings some other time and see how that goes.
