Let me first start off by saying I'm from Houston, Texas...I'm a Texas girlie so I know my BBQ. Now with that being said this wasn't the worst food; but I wouldn't come back if I had to pay. I had the Mac and Cheese, The green beans and one of the cooks let me try the greens that I happened to miss on the menu and they were all a 10/10!!! I mean they were AMAZING!! The sausage was good (a lil dry) and the brisket...baby I asked for fatty brisket (and I always have to tell ppl I mean the part you'd probably not eat lol, don't judge me) and I swear they gave me the driest leanest slices they could find lol. Now I love the variety of sauces that was dope although me being a Tx girlie "if I need sauce, that means it ain't smoked right or is lacking something" but that's just me. What I wanted was to find an email response with a list of those products followed by their weights. Instead, I return home to find a message left on my home phone-answering system from one of your employees. The message stated that, if I called said individual back, he would be happy to answer any questions I have. I had already asked my question via your email system. I have to ask it again? The last thing I want to do is get out a piece of paper, get your online menu teed-up on my computer, call that individual on the phone and then ask him for the weights of each and every item you offer. If this is the way you handle such a question, it is not helpful to me. Frankly, I have little motive to buy your foods in the first place. I gave you an opportunity to garner my business, possibly on a long-term basis, but you flubbed it. If you are not interested in proving me with what I need, in a reasonable format (i.e., written, not consuming my time on the phone) then I am not interested in doing what you want, namely buying your products. It's hard not to love Mission BBQ when the staff pour their hearts into making sure you have a great time here! My friends and I couldn't leave Virginia without having some great BBQ. We were so excited to try Mission and felt great supporting a business that gives back to service members. Their decorations honor the memories of those who have served. Staff are very invested in ensuring you have a great time. I wanted to try their special Hawaiian steak but when I asked to have it medium rare, the cashier told me, it's seared for a little longer to give it that char to compliment its flavor. He offered to cook it medium rare for me anyway, but I deferred since I wanted to go with the chef's suggestion. My giant 12 oz steak platter came with cole slaw and a hefty hunk of corn bread. It was definitely more than I could handle. The steak had that great charred BBQ flavor and sweet/savory Hawaiian marinade on the outer edges, but the middle was a little dry for my liking. I still found myself enjoying the juicyness and fatty edges, but found myself reaching for one of the varieties of BBQ sauces when it came to the middle. Speaking of the sauces, they are so generous with allowing you to use as much sauce as you please! There are so six different varieties that you can grab and bring back to your table. We had a lot of fun sampling then. While my steak was good, the brisket was absolute perfection. I don't even like brisket that much, but this brisket was so tender, fatty, and just melted in your mouth. Words escape me as I try to describe how luxurious the brisket tasted, the juicy strips just seem to almost dissolve in y our mouth. Long story short, the brisket is a must try and you can't go wrong with a platter so you can pair the meat with some buttery corn bread and cole slaw. The cheesy potatoes were also a winner. Really more creamy than cheesy, but I liked them all the same. St. Louis ribs were tender and falling off the bone with good flavor. Checked out this spot with a few of my battle buddies before heading to the movies. One of the guys commented the setup is similar to Chipotle. I'd say closer to Boston Market, but same same. Great food. Fresh. Hot. The brisket in the sandwich was melt in your mouth, and the mac n cheese was creamy. Great bbq, great customer service, and great mission (no pun intended!). The servings are large, so be sure to come hungry or be prepared to split a meal! I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, and I really liked the smoky mountain sauce. The sides we ordered all looked/tasted great, and we got free brownie samples while we were there, which tasted delicious! When the managers found out that it was our first time at the restaurant, they gave us coupons for a free sandwich - how awesome!! Why is everything always burnt or over cooked? I have been to this location twice and both times everything was overcooked or burnt. I always order moist brisket, never needed a knife until this location, and I had to work the knife to get into the meat. The cornbread was burnt both times and very dry. My husband got baby and spare ribs. The spare had this crisp burnt layer on top with the meat dried out. The baby were good, that will be his go to order from now on. I looked up this place through yelp. With 4 and 1/2 stars that I had relatively high expectations. It's decent but the items I've orDered are dry, maybe I am not ordering the right stuff. 1. Full rack and 1/2 rack ribs - some partts are not fully flavored and thee pieces are dry. Out of the 6 kinds of bbq sauce - I personally like the classic ones the best. It has a kick to it. 2. I've always wanted to try a "Mission BBQ" and finally had a chance to during my trip to the area. After a long day of hiking, BBQ was on my mind to celebrate the victory. We stopped in around 9:00 p.m. for a late dinner. The cashier walked us through the menu and even offered us meat samples. This was definitely the selling point! We went with a 2-meat (brisket and pulled pork) platter with 2 sides (potato salad and Mac-n-cheese) + a full rack of baby back ribs. Everything was delicious! The brisket was the best out of all the items. The baby back ribs were a bit salty for my likings but edible. The pulled pork was well smoked. The side items were on point to compliment the meal. Overall, amazing customer service! Someone even came by to take our plates and clean up after us. That's a prime example of going the distance to bring customers back. The meats are absolutely perfectly seasoned and cooked & the meats obviously take center stage at any BBQ place, but what makes this place special is that the same magnificent skill set is applied to the sides, which are fantastic. Came in on a Saturday evening. My order was taken quickly, and everyone on the staff was very friendly. My food arrived not long after I ordered. At this point, everything was spot on, but unfortunately that was where things took a turn for the worse. I ordered moist brisket and ribs. Neither had any smoke flavor at all, and very little seasoning as far as a rub goes. The brisket had almost no bark and tasted as though it had been steamed rather than smoked. It had more of a pot roast flavor than a brisket flavor profile. The ribs were so overly tender that the flavorless meat literally fell off of the bone. While some people may like that, I adhere to the idea that you should be able to take a bite out of a rib and not have the rest of the meat land on your tray. The sides were really the only saving grace, as the fries and cornbread were both tasty. I am curious what sort of smoking method is actually going into the cooking process.
