    Ribs, collard greens, cheesy potatoes.

Place: It's probably a little off the beaten path for most folks but it can be seen from a main thoroughfare. Either way, it's worth the drive. The inside is bright and clean. People: you order at a counter and someone drops off your food. That doesn't leave a lot of room for interaction but the young lady who took our order was nice. Product: it's not the best bbq I've ever had in my life but it is absolutely the best I've had in this area. Here's the breakdown of what we've eaten so far: Ribs - flavorful but cooked too long. The inside was tender but the outside was tough. Turkey - delicious and tender Pulled pork - tender, juicy, a teeny bit salty in a few spots but very good overall. Chicken nuggets - hard French fries - not memorable Roasted cauliflower - DELISH!! Broccoli salad - ok Cheesy potatoes- very tasty Collard greens - salty, too soft, tasted like they came from a can Cornbread - cold and thick, but soft and sweet. May have been much better warmed with a little butter. Nutshell: If I'm not up to a three hour tour for some ZZQ, I've found my quick stop BBQ spot.

Visited this place a couple of months ago. The food was pretty ok, the portions are on the small side. The service was not great. The music was loud, people dining couldn't carry on their conversation. They had to ask for it to be turned down. I would suggest greeting customers instead of talking to your co-workers. That goes a long way.

The sides were great, highly highly recommend the cheesy potatoes! Fries were very good as well However the meat was a little dry, and I was disappointed at the ribs. Good portion though. The service was pretty good but when I asked what the best BBQ sauce was, they said it was the blackberry and you wouldn't be able to taste the fruit. Unfortunately I could taste it in the BBQ sauce and it wasn't something I'd be interested in trying again The store was clean and cute though, ambiance looked nice, cool decorations. It was good but I probably wouldn't go here again. I'd give it a 3.5 stars if I could

Glad to have a location in CVille and a BBQ restaurant in the northern end of Albemarle county. Smoked has a good selection of meats, sides, and sauces. Personal favorites include the pulled pork, fried chicken, baked beans, Mac and cheese, and potato salad. Lots of sauces to choose from, but the Carolina and Low Country Mustard stood out since sweet is not my thing. And the cornbread was awesome.

Ordered takeout so I'm only reviewing the food. The 1/2 lbs of brisket was a good value for the price. Will definitely go back for more.

Server (Brianna) started out good, fairly attentive until I got my food. After I got my food I got one cursory "all good?" and that was it until I got the bill. Anyway, on to the food: ordered two meat plate (brisket and pulled pork) with fries and coles slaw. Fries were the highlight of the meal. Hot, crispy, seasoned...awesome. Cole slaw was good....but it was super tangy (vinegary) for my taste. Don't get it wrong, it was good, just hard to eat all of it thanks to the tang. On to the meat. Got a pretty good sized pile of pulled pork and a couple slices of brisket. Both meats were lukewarm at best. Pork was dry (thank goodness for the NC vinegar sauce). The brisket made up for the porks dryness, it was extra greasy and extra fatty. Like, for real, do you think people are going to eat the fat layer between the lean point meat and the fatty upper meat? Yeah, not me. But since the brisket was also lukewarm (more like lukecold) it really didn't make a difference. I did think the Vision BBQ sauce tasted pretty good. If Brianna would have come back by after I got my meal I would have sent it back....and probably would have just left without worrying over a replacement, or a comp, or anything. Secondary issue: went to the mens room. It was just nasty. You get once shot to make an impression, and this one was not good. Would not/will not repeat.

Service up front was solid, but the food did not deliver for me. The restaurant is located just off UVA grounds. Plenty of parking maybe should have been a clue. Overall the dining room was clean, but our table had some debris on top and floor. I ordered the wing platter with sides of baked beans and macaroni and cheese. My daughter the pulled pork sandwich with macaroni and cheese. My wife the turkey and shared sides. No one cared for the macaroni as it was flavorless. The wings were good, but small for the price. They say it's a half pound. The baked beans were tasty. My wife liked her turkey, I'm not inclined to recommend or try again. It also burned me that they have a tipping option and do not deliver the food to the table.

The sandwich was pretty tasty and most importantly, the turkey wasn't dry! The slices were pretty thick (almost 1/2" thick). I would have preferred slightly thinner and just more pieces, but good flavor. The combination of the turkey with white sauce, slaw, and pickles made for a tasty bite. The sides were a mixed bag. Pretty good overall, but I could have taken 25% of the salt on the greens and added it to the casserole! The casserole may have had enough salt, but with the greens so salty, the squash seemed slightly under seasoned. I usually don't comment on bathrooms, but the hand dryer being located directly above the toilet was pretty gross. No paper towels either. I used my shirt to turn the knob with wet hands and grab a paper towel from one of the tables. Again, staff was great. The food was pretty good, but I'm not a fan of the bathrooms!

I had the Mac and Cheese, The green beans and one of the cooks let me try the greens that I happened to miss on the menu and they were all a 10/10!!! I mean they were AMAZING!! The sausage was good (a lil dry) and the brisket...baby I asked for fatty brisket (and I always have to tell ppl I mean the part you'd probably not eat lol, don't judge me) and I swear they gave me the driest leanest slices they could find lol. Now I love the variety of sauces that was dope although me being a Tx girlie "if I need sauce, that means it ain't smoked right or is lacking something" but that's just me. If you're not from the south (which my date ain't) you'd love this place!!! As for my southerners you'd enjoy the sides and the sweet tea. Oh and I tried my date's shredded chicken (another odd choice) and it tasted like baked bbq chicken...oh and the cornbread was dry as hell!! Tasty but like eating a biscuit from Popeyes But anyways the service was great!!! The sides were amazing but the actual bbq left a lot to be desired...again if you're not from the south I can see yall loving this spot.

I would say in general the food is pretty high quality probably a 4-5/5 stars but the staffs friendly service definitely makes this a 5 star experience to dine here. Our server was personable and friendly and did an awesome job. The hosts were also very nice and someone else working I think likely the manager came to check on us as well and everyone was so so nice. We felt so welcomed. The service definitely takes it up a notch. The ambiance is modern and trendy and feels elevated. My partner noted how cute all of the utensils and bowls were lol. For the food we got the combination A for 2 which is basically just like the cheapest combo option for 2 people. We hadn't been before so we didn't feel the need to try something with more bells and whistles yet but likely would in the future. The combo A comes with 4 meats that are cooked one after another. You're served all your sides to start and the server can refill these while you eat. For two people, it is a LOOOTT of food. The banchans included broccoli (3/5) just kinda plain), pickled daikon (4/5), pickled collared greens (5/5), kimchi (2/5 - sorry, I like mine spicier!!), cucumber kimchi (4/5), pickled bean sprout (5/5) - and that's on top of the steamed rice, salad (5/5), egg soufflé (4/5), stew (5/5) and cheese corn (5/5). As you can tell, the majority of the sides were unbelievably delicious and well prepared. Each side is made in house and really only the broccoli felt kinda plain and even that had some sort of sesame oil on it. So none of the sides are just plain veggies you're getting fully seasoned carefully crafted food and LOTS of it. As for the meats, we thought they were quite good and went from our least favorite to our most. We started with the thinly sliced fatty beef brisket which, to be honest, was quite dry and a bit flavorless. It wasn't terrible but definitely was just kinda meh and needed the sauces they provided to elevate the flavor. This was maybe a 2-3/5. The next meat was the fatty pork belly. This was a 4/5. I don't LOVE pork belly as it is but to be honest this was seasoned and cooked quite well and I enjoyed it. The next two meats were totally amazing. The pork collar was my absolute favorite. Our server let us know that it can be a hard meat to cook and he did a fabulous job with it. Whatever the marinade was took it over the top and this came out perfectly tender, flavorful, and SUPER juicy! 10/5. I could eat this all day it was so good. The last meat was the spicy bulgogi and it was a 5/5. I loved it and my partner who is spice sensitive also liked it. A note on the spicy food - my partner cannot tolerate spice (yt man problems) and there were a number of things that did or could include spice. The only thing he couldn't eat because of spice issues was the spicy soy paste stew. Everything else (spicy bulgogi, kimchi, etc) was tolerable. So if you're worried about the spice level, don't be. The sauces provided were not spicy either. So, as far as the food went, we were very impressed. We also ordered drinks - I had pear juice which was kinda just 3/5. I didn't expect pulp so that's on me. My partner had the royal court cocktail. 5/5. This was pear with black tea and some spices and it was amazing! I couldn't keep eating it was so much food but my boyfriend didn't want to leave unless we tried dessert lol. So the server recommended the tiramisu and my boyfriend raised his eyebrows at me. This is one of my all time favorite desserts and so I am quite picky. The server said they make a Korean version with soy bean paste mochi and some other alterations. I was pretty skeptical because again I am super picky about traditional tiramisu as it is and I just in general don't love sweet stuff. This tiramisu I am not kidding it is a 10/5. This might be one of the best desserts I've ever had. I didn't really care for the mochi on top but the almond topping combined with the tiramisu was amazing. It has just the right amount of savory in the sweetness, the texture was perfect and the espresso flavor was nice and strong. Totally amazing. Our server told us that the servers who work here love it so much they had to be banned from buying it on their shifts because they would run out so often and I see why! I will dream about this dessert for many days to come... For two people with the combo drinks and dessert it came to about $150ish with taxes and tip. Totally worth it imo. It's definitely a nicer night out at the price point but you will not be disappointed. I am SO excited for the next time we come back! Thank you Bulpan for your awesome food and service - we are looking forward to forward to dining with you again. 감사합니다!
