Had lunch on a Friday afternoon and had a fantastic experience. Was my first time at this location. There were three in my party and we all remarked about the fantastic food and service. Waitlisted on the app about ten minutes before arrival. The host called me by name, seated us at a table with my name on it and asked me to come back as he held open the door as I left - again by name. Everyone was so friendly! Enjoyed lemon herb chicken, baked sweet potato and broccoli with carrots. Asked for extras such as paper napkins, a to-go-drink cup, extra cinnamon and extra butter on the side. Our server, Taylor was generous and friendly. Cooked and seasoned perfectly, the chicken was also moist and flavorful. I inquired who was "on the grill" today and was told Carolina prepared our food. Shout out to Carolina for her superior skills. Of course, we initially came for the yeast rolls - and 'Oh it is good!' Taylor seemed happy to bring more and even a to-go-bag of rolls and the famous sweet, whipped, cinnamon butter. It is going to make someone at home very happy. The manager, Thomas came to ask about our experience and invited us to come back. It is rare to have a dining experience that checks all the boxes - and this experience was stellar. I went to this Texas Roadhouse with friends after long resisting even considering walking in the door. The idea of a steak really disgusts me. But everyone assured me there were plenty of things to eat without the beef. I started with their blended, frozen strawberry margarita - wow! Generous portion, and I could actually taste the tequila! I had a loaded baked potato, and they were generous with the toppings. After I ate one of their incredibly delicious, soft, slightly sweet rolls, I could only eat half of the large baked potato and took the other half home along with an extra roll. I got the salmon for the first time and it was excellent. The service was great. And overall I had one of my more pleasant experiences at this establishment. Very good overall experience that was highlighted by amazing service. Also the get in line ahead worked flawlessly with timing. The dining room was clean, unused tables cleared and the crowd was hopping on a Saturday night. My ribeye was perfection with sides of loaded potatoes (was ordered as loaded sweet potato) and mixed veggies. Yeah there was a mistake but I enjoyed what I had. For the appetizer, we ordered the cactus blossom and for the entree I ordered the 12 oz New York strip medium rare with my two sides being steak fires & vegetables. For the drink I had the raspberry lemonade. The appetizer was ok but nothing to write home about. The streak came out look good the end piece were medium rare but more toward the middle I say it was more on the rare side. The inside can be pretty messy but the food is cheap, especially compared to other things in cville. Half of the food is usually kinda bland but the other half will be really good. The rolls are definitely top tier. The ribs and sirloin steak are genuinely pretty good. Cville is such a desert for good bbq that their ribs might actually be the best here. And the rolls are so good.... Seriously I could eat a whole meal of just the rolls.... The margaritas look massive like it's actually a little scary. Texas Roadhouse is definitely like a camo and big truck restaurant so expect that vibe and for people to be swerving around in the parking lot. Wear whatever you want it's very casual. Visited a few weeks ago while passing through Charlottesville. This was my first time at this location. It was a Sunday afternoon of a holiday weekend but we were seated right away. My boyfriend picked out a ribeye and I ordered my usual - the sirloin + shrimp skewer. We also ordered the combo appetizer, a side salad, and chili. The service was excellent. Our waitress checked up on us multiple times and our food came out fast. It was cooked well and delicious. Everything went smoothly and we were in and out in about 50 minutes with tons of leftovers. Overall, a great quick dining experience which was good as we had a 2 hour drive home. I highly recommend this location - I think it was better than some of our home locations!! read more

Absolute terrible dinner. Waiter took our order then never came back. We never got our side salads and nobody ever came back to check on our table. I had asked for horseradish, steak sauce, other things and tried to flag other waiters but they would all ignore me since we weren't their table. Complained to the manager and he took a measly $10 off for the cost of the side salads we never received. Service was just so bad that we paid the barely reduced bill and left. It should have been a free meal or refunded for the absolute shit show service and mediocre food. I ordered a rare steak but it came out practically blue extremely raw. This is my mom's favorite place to eat. For her 80th bday, 17 family members gathered to celebrate with her at Texas Roadhouse. We called at 2 pm for a 5 pm dinner. We arrived on time and checked in with the host. We were told that our table would be ready in a few minutes. 40 minutes later we still had not been seated. We asked why 3 large parties were seated before us. We were told there was a miscommunication. Then how did 3 parties that came in after us get seated??? We were only told "thank you for your patience" but never "I'm so sorry" by management. We chose to take the family to another place at this point. My mom's birthday was ruined and there was never an apology. I would have appreciated if my mom was offered a complimentary dessert or appetizer for how she was treated. Nothing! None of my 17 family members will ever eat at the Charlottesville location. This was a big mistake sending such a large ticket out to a competitor!!! So sad read more

Kitchen took forever and then the waiter brought a steak to me that was super well done, totally charred,, not medium per my order. They took it back but it again took forever and my wife was done eating by then. I told them to take it off my bill and the manager got fresh with me, talking to me like I was his bro even though I'm a man in my 50s. A Food Chain with Mediocre Steak and Phenomenal Bread Let me get this out of the way: I normally despise steakhouse chains. Outback, Longhorn, and several others are just not my cup of tea. In my mission to support as many local businesses as possible, I will almost always choose a local steak place where the chances of finding a great steak are normally higher than that of a chain. All that to say... Texas Roadhouse is fine. If I ABSOLUTELY must go to a local chain, then Texas Roadhouse is my go-to. It's better than average, with addicting bread and cinnamon butter to start off the meal. My girlfriend and I had a great date, and the service and ambience were good. The food was fine. Neither the steak nor the shrimp blew us away, but it wasn't bad by any account. It's a perfectly inoffensive, decently-priced steak dinner, and for a chain, that's as great a compliment as any. read more

Sorry, Texas Roadhouse in Charlottesville. Today was the last time for me!! The last couple times I have been here service and food quality were sorely lacking. Today was the last straw. I ordered the NY Strip cooked medium and when it came out the cook on it was decent, but it was full of gristle and fat. I was not at all satisfied, so my server took that back and got another one cooked. When it was ready, the manager, Joy, brought it out and asked if I would like to cut into it. When I cut it, the middle was blue and completely cold. I don't know if she was embarrassed, but I certainly would have been - no where near Medium. So she took that away and said she would cook it some more. Meanwhile, my husband had long finished his meal, and there I sat .....waiting. When my steak came out again (third time), it was decently cooked. Joy asked, "So, how is that"? No apology at all! Wish I could say I enjoyed my lunch, but that would be a lie. My time for a nice, casual, relaxed lunch was ruined. The server brought our check, no deduction for cooking mistakes or waiting for TWO RECOOKS. On my way out I stopped by the restroom. (Sorry) the smell emanating from the vicinity of the restrooms was nauseating and unbearable. Maybe this restaurant is understaffed for cleaning and has lost its seasoned cooks?? Texas Roadhouse has long been my favorite restaurant. 20 years ago I searched for the best ribeye and found it at TR. However, today's visit was very disappointing. The 12oz ribeye was a thin cut and was dry. Normally it's a thick cut and very juicy, even well done. Our server started off really good but was distracted and missed bringing items. I am beyond disappointed with the experience we had at Texas Roadhouse in Cville. It started with my chili being brought out cold; frustrating, but no big deal! I just asked for it to be reheated. I went to enjoy my chili after they kindly reheated it for me, and then I realized we had no silverware. The waitress took at least 10 minutes to come back with silverware while we just awkwardly stared at our food, waiting for it to eat itself I guess? and to top it all off, we woke up the next morning with food poisoning. Texas Roadhouse has always been one of my favorite spots to enjoy in town and now I don't think I will ever be able to enjoy it again. This was my second time visiting Texas Roadhouse in the past couple months and I haven't been too pleased either time! The waitress was great this time but the food wasn't anything to be excited about. Cheese fries, always a win so far but the country fried steak really didn't have a good taste, the batter seemed really sweet to me and almost old tasting. The seasoned rice was mushy and really too salty, and I love salt! Baked potato that my daughter got was good but hey, it's a baked potato lol. I was able to get off work early and take my kids to dinner and decided to try Texas Roadhouse. It took an hour to get 3 kids meals and one steak. 4 tables surrounding us had left, been re-sat, and had their salads and food before us. My kids ending up crying from being hungry and tired. Call ahead seating and still had to wait 25 minutes. Second time I've been here and they ran out of prime rib. That's the kind of thing I would've liked to of known when I came through the door. Not sure what she was going through that night but we're going to give her the benefit of a doubt. As I'm writing this I am now one hour sitting in our booth without our entrées. Not normally one to give a negative review, but the execution of this particular location has not been very good in our last two visits. Possibly Time for a new management. I have had a pleasant experience at Texas Roadhouse before but this last time we went was not a very good one. Our waitress was very kind but not very efficient. She cleared our table once after the appetizer then just let the dishes accumulate. Dinner was fine, I wouldn't recommend the fried chicken with gravy. The single piece of chicken was drenched in the gravy which wasn't very good. After dinner, we wanted to order desert and our waitress just assumed we were done and walked away. We got her attention again and ordered coffee. The coffee came out to us cold. My coffee cup had some weird red colored syrup around the rim which was absolutely repulsive. We also ordered a brownie with ice cream which was placed in the center of our dirty dishes. Someone from our party had to get up and move all of our dirty dishes to a different table so we could have room to eat. After that our waitress never came back so we just paid and left. We came in with a party of 5, when they seemed relatively busy, and got sat almost immediately at a quirky L shaped booth. The TV was playing music videos in front of us which the kids liked. Loni was very friendly and gave excellent service, answering all my questions and giving great suggestions. She didn't judge me for my copious sour cream consumption and checked on us frequently to make sure everything was perfect. I've had less than stellar visits before but they seem much better now. Our visit to Texas Roadhouse was an unexpectedly heartwarming experience! To be honest, I didn't have high hopes for the chain when we first decided to go, but we had a gift card and figured it was worth a try. I was immediately taken aback when we saw the overflowing parking lot and massive crowd waiting to be seated. I thought -- what is so special about this chain restaurant? And it didn't take long until we found out. The restaurant had free peanuts in the waiting area to keep customers busy and not hangry. When we meandered over to their steak display while waiting, their staff were also quick to offer us complementary, fresh baked bread and honey cinnamon butter as well. Once we got seated, our waitress asked us if we had dined at Texas Roadhouse before, and when we said no, she immediately came back with a complementary sampling platter for us to try all of her favorite homemade sides! Then she made sure to walk us through the menu and provide recommendations before taking our order. The food itself was delicious, with our favorites being the blooming cactus, salmon, and burger. After we wrapped up, the manager also came by our table to thank us for dining with them and gave us a complementary bag of peanuts and a coupon to come back for a free appetizer! All the staff wear a shirt that says 'I love my job,'' and their actions to make us feel welcomed truly speak to that. While we've dined at most restaurants in downtown Charlottesville before, I'm happy to say Texas Roadhouse provided hands down the best customer service we have received in the Charlottesville.
