Bonjour! My wife and I had a untypical visit to this quaint little bakery by booking a behind the scenes bakery tour through Viator. The tour is called "Paris french bakery behind the scenes experience." wife and I started off with a sampling of assorted pastries before going to see the behind-the-scenes operations of a working Paris Bakery. It was a one of a kind experience. Our charming guide, Cyrine explained interesting facts about the different baked goods, and the history behind them. We had the opportunity to work with baguette dough, shape them before they were baked for our enjoyment. We also were given a recipe for Financiers. After preparing the dough for batch, additionally we were able to shape a batch of croissants. At the end, we have a new appreciation for the labor and techniques that goes into creating iconic Parisian bread and pastries. We had a great time. read more

The place is so quaint - and the service was absolutely wonderful. I felt like I had walked in to my grandmother's house! There were so many choices too. I appreciated the server being patient with my questions (since I'm allergic to nuts!) and I appreciated her taking the time to check their ingredient list and speak w/ other people in the bakery. We went right before closing, and the line was out the door (in the rain). The store had many displays of delicious treats, and we couldn't wait to get our hands on the toasted delicacies. Overall, the taste was delicious for each things we bought. We were thoroughly stuffed and satisfied. Oh when you stumble upon greatness, or are visually encouraged to find the stumble. What in the world does that mean? While in Paris having breakfast at a sidewalk cafe and people watching. We watched a continuous flow of people walk by the cafe holding white bags with black simple lettering that we could not make out. Breakfasts here are great way to start out a day of sightseeing, and you can pick up a sandwich or a panini to go to save for lunch. For breakfast, we liked the plain and chocolate croissants and the coffee. I had the Erik Kayser croissants, but I prefer Miss Manon's. These are crispier on the outside, fluffier on the inside, and with a much higher turnover all day. For lunch or dinner, enjoy a ham and cheese baguette or a panini. We saw many places that advertised paninis on the street, but none looked very appetizing. I'm glad I chose Miss Manon for my panini- I am sure those other places would have spoiled my appetite for them. It takes about five minutes for them to toast them, and after the time you receive a delicious sandwich on warm and crispy ciabatta bread with fresh mozzarella and arugula, plus your choice of meat (I liked the salmon one especially). For any time of day, enjoy a fresh demi- or whole-size baguette. I liked the plain ones, but I would try the sesame ones next time. They seemed to be very popular among the customers. read more

Typical, and evidently a popular boulangerie in the area. At the window, you will immediately be enticed to come in by the attractive and bright displays of assorted pastries. We ordered croissants and a baguette to go. We also ordered from the menu and ate breakfast there. The serious-looking girl who served me at the counter when I purchased the breads, was at first deeply unhappy and not understanding of what I was fumbling to explain to her--that we were ALSO going to order from the menu, and therefore we should be ok to sit at the table. Anyhow, the comments by other reviewers regarding "rude service", appear to be true--but I would hazard a guess that this was confined to this particular young lady. Our actual server, on the other hand, was efficient and polite. Our breakfast consisted of a tartine (a baguette split into two halves, served with butter and jam), a baguette sandwich with ham and cheese, a breakfast egg sandwich, bacon and eggs, coffee (espresso), and fresh-squeezed OJ. If I recall, the total cost was around €35+. Will I return? I try to go to a different place each time (be it a pastry shop, a restaurant, or a café), so I am not too keen on going back. Beware of changing you order from "emporter" (take away) to "sur place" (eat there)! I had family in town and I wanted to get them some good French breakfast pastries (croissants, pain chocolat, palmier, brioche chocolat, etc.) for breakfast. After we ordered, they decided to eat there since a table opened up to accommodate our group of 6. The lady behind the counter glared at me as if I was the devil and informed me, in French "I will charge you 50 cents extra for each item". .. Sure. Go ahead. So my order of baked goods and coffees suddenly jumped from 23 euros to 35 euros. This place is not my regular go-to boulangerie but it is open in Augst, offers more seating (especially on a cold rainy day), and it is closer to my apartment! The pastries and breads are A-Ok because after all, you are in Paris.. This was my first place to eat at after arriving in Paris. It was one of the only cafe open on an early Saturday morning so I decided to grab a quick bite before checking in at my hotel. Me and my friend ordered the almond croissant and regular croissant. It wasn't so busy but the lady who took our order seemed impolite. Onto the food. The almond croissant came out really soggy and soft. The taste was alright. But the plain croissant was really good. The plain croissant was reallly buttery. WORST SERVICE. We told the young lady server that we want 1 croissant but she was putting in more, so we stopped her and told her again that we only want 1 croissant. She was very rude, and she took the croissant out of the bag and threw it in the pastry window into the corner. It didn't even land in the basket. She kept talking to herself in French, and when I tried to pay for the pastry she kept talking to her co-worker and didn't even look at me. Worst service ever. Do not visit. This appears just to be a bakery but there's also seating for about 20 people. They serve a complete breakfast including omelettes. The food was not bad at all and a little cheaper then you might find another restaurants like this. As for the pastries several of them were pretty good put a couple of them were slightly disappointing - in particular the apple tart was wet and sticky and the chausson de pomme was way too dry and kind of salty.
