Jerry was the one who seated us, and while showing us to our table, he made a comment implying that because I am a "bigger" girl, he could make adjustments for me to fit in a booth. The family-style meal starts by choosing three entrées and four sides for the table. After finishing those, you're welcome to order more from the menu, but we were so full after the first round that we didn't need anything else. We chose the fried chicken, grilled chicken, and catfish, with mac and cheese, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, and cornbread. Every single dish was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. That's even includes dessert ! Which was not advertised on the menu so it was a sweet surprise. The service was friendly and efficient, and the food came out hot and quickly. We enjoyed this meal more than any other restaurant we tried in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. If you're visiting Dollywood, don't skip Aunt Granny's!

Don't let the reviews scare you away! If we had listened to some of the reviews on Yelp and Google,…read morewe never would have tried this place--and that would have been a shame because we had a DELICIOUS dinner! We drove by Captain Jim's on the Parkway and immediately knew we wanted to try it. Then we checked the reviews... and honestly, they almost talked us out of it. We decided to take one for the team and give it a try anyway, and we are SO glad we did! As soon as you walk in, you'll definitely get that seafood smell, but it wasn't overpowering at all. If anything, it just made us even hungrier--and that's a good thing when you're walking into an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet! The buffet stayed stocked with hot, fresh food the entire time we were there. There were plenty of choices, including: Crab legs Baked fish Fried fish Two kinds of potatoes Corn Green beans Pot roast Chicken Ribs Fresh salad bar with lots of toppings and dressings Rolls Dessert, which they bring out after your meal and is included with the buffet! The baked cod was SO good. It had a delicious crust, wasn't overcooked, and had that perfect flaky-but-not-dry texture you want from baked fish. The crab legs were overflowing on the buffet the entire time we were there. They were super easy to crack open and incredibly sweet. Definitely a favorite! The mahi-mahi was cooked perfectly, and the fried fish had what I thought was the perfect batter-to-fish ratio--not a giant ball of breading hiding the fish. Our waitress was also wonderful. I believe her name was Sheda. She was warm, welcoming, and took the time to explain everything since it was our first visit. She really helped make our dinner a great experience. The restaurant itself was clean and had plenty of seating inside. I could definitely see the parking lot filling up quickly during busy times, but once inside, there was plenty of room. Overall, we are SO glad we ignored the reviews and tried Captain Jim's for ourselves. Sometimes you just have to make your own experience, and ours was a very good one. The food was hot, the buffet stayed stocked, the seafood was delicious, and the service was friendly. Would we go back? Absolutely! If you're in Pigeon Forge and considering Captain Jim's, I'd say give it a try and decide for yourself. We're glad we did!

Parking is tight. 2:30 Sunday afternoon and there is a line. It's dark. It's old. It's cramped. It's packed. Pay as you enter at some booth that looks like a fortune teller would be sitting in it. If the fortune teller was indeed there- they would say you are about to be forever changed. We paid- got seated- and headed to the buffet. Holy guacamole Batman. It's tight and crowded. They had prawns or maybe crawfish- missus loved them. They had shrimp. Fried fish looked rough. They had everything you can find in a Chinese food place. They had miles of noodles, piles of egg rolls and dumplings and spring rolls. They had ice cream and cookies and desserts. They had cakes and puddings and yes- a salad or three. If you got to a buffet and eat a salad- you got issues I can't fix. The final test: missus says she didn't see red jello. It isn't a real buffet without the red jello. I went looking. Yes- three kinds of jello. How did everything taste? Missus liked it all and really liked the potatoes ( why, just, why.) I thought the place was absolutely terrific. Old and a bit tired but the food was so very good. The service from our waits was good. She would say to people "I see you" and smile as she took the empty plates or refilled glasses. We paid $12.99 per person, plus $3 per person for drinks. With tip is was like $38 ish bucks. I can spend that at Freddy's or Burger King for two people. So- if ya haven't been there, try it. If ya have- you hopefully had the same great experience we did. Ive included a photo of the jello, just to prove how authentic Sakura is.

Good golly, Miss Dolly did not bless this buffet. We splurged on the Easter Brunch for six people,…read moreand it was, unfortunately, an unforgettable waste of money. It took me a while to write this review because I was still trying to process just how disappointing the experience was for the whole family. Let's start with the positive: the staff was genuinely lovely--from the warm greeting at the door to our server and the buffet attendants. Everyone was kind and attentive, and they were doing their best. Now, the food. While the buffet was abundant, much of it was barely edible and did not taste freshly made. My teens--who love fried chicken--took one bite and declared it "unedible," which was my first red flag. They reverted to the kids' station, but the mac & cheese was mushy and unrecognizable, and everything else there had been steamed to within inches of its life. I tried to rally enthusiasm with the donut wall, but despite being coated in sugar, the donuts were oddly tasteless. Many items across the buffet were overly salted--yes, even the greens were sodium loaded . At the made-to-order station, I tried the stir-fry, which was unfortunately drowned in what tasted like bottled sauce. Our last hope was the crêpe station. I understand this is a high-volume restaurant, but the crêpes were clearly prepackaged, reheated to order, and filled with canned fruit. Once again: edible, but barely. We did manage to laugh together about how much we love Dolly Parton--and how shocking it was that food this bad carried her name. I can't speak to ordering off the regular menu, but I strongly recommend saving your hard-earned money and skipping this buffet altogether. Perhaps a freshly made omelet might have been better, but nothing here justified the $65 per person price tag. Aunt Grannies at the theme park is definitely better, but since it was a holiday we eventually went to Bucc- ees later to get better food .
