We love Kitsune! The food is innovative and tasty. Chirashi, tuna yellowtail donburi, tuna zuke don…read moreare definitely among of our favorites. The quality of sashimi is unparalleled (especially for the area). The tempura is not heavy or greasy. The grilled lamb chop was amazing. Each week it's a new surprise menu! Kitsune is back at Talta Lodge summer 2023! Every Thursday from 5:30pm-8:30pm on the Talta lawn for the Little River Summer Series, an outdoor event featuring Kitsune menu, beer tent, live music, lawn games, fire pits, stream to wade in, and gourmet s'mores by La Shack. Family friendly and even (leashed) dog-friendly event. No tickets or fee to enter! Fridays and Saturdays from 5pm-9pm back in the downstairs lounge space - reservations recommended. For the past winter (Oct2022-Mar2023), Kitsune was located as a pop up on Thu, Fri and Sat at Talta Bluebird with a limited number of tables. Reservations are recommended for the sit down dinner on Thursdays. And your liquor tab will be charged separately - Talta keeps these funds but the tips do go to the Kitsune crew. Fridays and Saturdays are a limited bar menu. There is some take out available.

The staff, ambiance and cocktails are fabulous!! The food? Not so much. Firstly, the portions for…read moreprice are laughable. Our bill was over $200 for two people and the time between appetizers and entrees was significant to the point the server comped one of our apps. The food isn't seasoned properly and the oysters were... not Good. Firstly you only get 4 for $16 and each one has a mound of shaved ice on top I could only eat one and that was a struggle. Very bizarre. I thought maybe the ramen would be good but nothing has much flavor at all. I would only recommend the bar and maybe pass on food

Luckily we got seat straight away. We had one salad, one veg pizza and one sushi ordered and fist 2 item came pretty soon. We really liked both salad and pizza. Vegetables felt so fresh and taste was amazing. Sushi came after a while and it was little fancy as it was lit on the table to cook inside food. Taste was good but slightly burnt feeling because of fire. I will try other one next time. Interior is nice and have lot of space. We were seated on covered patio and next to us was a small stream flowing, that was nice touch. Enough of parking is available outside and it's free.

Step it up Matterhorn - please. We, too, are locals who mostly avoid Stowe in the winter, but dined…read moreone night before a show at Spruce Peak and before that a fall family dinner and both were not up to par at Matterhorn. We really look forward to long bike rides or runs in Stowe followed by dinner outside by the water at the Matterhorn, but our last two experiences were full of disappointment. The service was not as we remembered and the staff generally did not seem happy to be there and it was not busy at all. It's such a great menu and we love the setting by the river in the summer (occasional bear sightings too). We may give you another try in the spring, and we hope that you read your reviews and take action as such. Here's to improvement!
