I was in town on a ski trip to Stowe. I am from Boston and I love chinese food. This location is located in the center of town and has easy highway access. The parking lot is ample and it's not shared with other Businesses. We wanted hibachi but we didnt make reservations and the wait would of been long (make reservations) The restaurant is very nice and ample and has a really nice aesthetic. We ordered house fried rice, chicken wings, and orange chicken and crab rangoon. The food was amazing and the flavors hit and didn't miss. One thing I will say about Stowe is the people are the nicest, and this restaurant is not the exception. If you are in this area, eat here!! read more

Ambiance was fine and the service at the bar was good too, but you go to a hibachi restaurant for the cooking experience. That is where the wheels came off. I have never had an experience with a server/chef that was so unpleasant. No show, no entertainment, and clearly there was no desire by the hibachi chef to do his job. He was rude, missed our plates with food and said nothing, walked away from the grill multiple times, undercooked half the food, and the seafood was so poorly prepared we could not eat it. When we notified the staff, they informed us this was a regular problem with this chef. Clearly this business does not want to correct the problem, so unless you can request a chef other than the one we had, stay clear of this place. We received no adjustment to our bill despite not being able to eat some of our food. I am generally a very positive reviewer but this was perhaps the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. What a shame the other staff have to lose money on tips because of this chef. You have to be better. read more

Cute spot for Japanese dinner in the middle of mountains! We ordered shrimp tempura rolls and shrimp lo mein. My friend was looking for pad thai and the server was nice enough to give us a heads up that the pad thai here will not be as good as other restaurants and suggested lo mein options, which was great! The roll and tempura shrimps seemed skinny and the serving size seemed small, but it was delicious!! The shrimp lo mein was delicious too! The best best best in the neighborhood!!! We are super picky with our chinese food but their hot and sour soup is the best we've had! Its actually super sour and super peppery spicy. Which we absolutely love after a super windy day in vermont. We tried their beef w brocolli which was excellent and sesame chicken. (Which we ended up getting it to go and even eating it reheated it was so good!) we cant wait to be back so that we can visit this restaurant again! While in Stowe, we stopped by one of our favorites--Sushi Yoshi. This wonderful Japanese restaurant offers both hibachi and traditional dining, and we opted for the traditional route. I ordered the Mongolian beef, crab rangoons, and Kani salad, and as usual, everything met my expectations, if not exceeded them. The Mongolian beef was absolutely delicious--tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. It's a dish that stands out every time. Sushi Yoshi consistently delivers an outstanding experience. The food is always wonderful, the staff is friendly and quick, and the restaurant has such an amazing, welcoming vibe all around. Each visit reminds me why it's one of my go-to spots in Stowe. Sushi Yoshi is one of my regular restaurants in Stowe. I've been probably at least 15 times. TL;DR: food 3/5; service 1-5; ambiance 4/5 The age tofu is one of the best tofu dishes I've ever had. Absolutely amazing. The tempura batter is light and the tofu is perfectly cooked. However the tempura dipping sauce is NOT vegetarian. The shrimp tempura is also delicious. The fried rice is one of my normal go tos, but sometimes the shrimp is undercooked. I've also had the shrimp wok dish, which has large shrimp and is very good. The shrimp pad Thai is ok- not great. Service is a mixed bag. I've had more mediocre servers than good ones. Tonight's was a bad one read more

The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is the pricing. We had two orders of chicken teriyaki (which came with salad and soup), a volcano roll, moshi and two sodas and it was over $100. We did not like the salad dressing or the soup. The chicken teriyaki was good with lots of chicken and veggies. It had a side of white rice (not fried). Our waiter was very nice and on top of things. I am so grateful to have Sushi Yoshi in town. They are really the best place to go if you want a variety of Sushi. They have great rolls, a La Cart sushi/sashimi and Japanese menu items. I'm not a fan of the Chinese fusion menu -- which seems a bit of lower (take out style) quality than the Japanese and sushi menu and specifically come here for the sushi and Japanese cuisine which is amazing with a lot of options. read more

So much fun! We hit up Sushi Yoshi today about 3:00 and magically hit the PERFECT time for our visit. We were seated right away in a quiet corner over looking the fire pit and couldn't have had a warmer welcome! The food was outstanding. For starters we tried the Yakitori, the Negimayaki, and the Ebi Shumai. All three were great but far and away the Yakitori was our all time favorite, especially when dipped in just a bit of the teriyaki sauce from the Negimayaki! We next quizzed our server, Shelby W, on the menu items. As sushi neophytes she was so so kind and helpful steering us toward dishes with a hint of adventure but could be handled with our baby sushi palates. To that end we tried the Seared Tuna Roll and the Spider Roll. Both were excellent - and we know we would have been happy with all of her recommendations which also included the Boston Roll and any of the Tempura Rolls. She was clear that most of the Japanese specializes from the back half of the menu were either fully raw or partially raw. Very good for these sushi newbies! We each tried one of the dinners. The Scallop Bamboo Steamer was exactly as advertised and an amazing steal. 10 large scallops, a huge amount of perfectly steamed veggies, a large bowl of white rice and dipping sauce. It will be lunch for the next two days! We also tried the Mongolian Beef which our 20 year old son refused to share because it was so good, and the Seafood Delight which my husband said was delicious. Reading through the reviews you'll hear comments about it being crowded, difficult to get a table, and noisy. That was not our experience - because we didn't go at a peak time (thanks Yelpers for the tip!) and we gave a lot of grace for staffing. You'll also hear it was expensive. While our bill was high for 3 people who didn't have any alcohol, we could have easily been in and out for less than $90 for the three of us, with food to spare but we chose to splurge! Give Sushi Yoshi a try, we will definitely be back. read more

This is a nice Japanese-Asian restaurant in Stowe. For those who want the theatrics of Japanese hibachi (think Benihana's), they have several hibachi tables where you can both enjoy the show and the food. For those who want a traditional Japanese meal, they offer the standard dishes- sushi/sashimi, tempura, teriyaki, and also some Asian fusion dishes. We opted for traditional. The frequent complaints about the portion size of the sushi had some merit. However, I've seen this at other restaurants- I call it portion shrinkflation. They don't want to raise prices so they reduce portion size. I didn't think it was that bad though, and the sushi was quite good. The volcano roll is the star- a delicious combination of cooked and raw! The Cady's Falls roll and the Superstar roll were also very tasty. The tempura was hot and nice and crispy- 3 large shrimp and an assortment of vegetables (onion, broccoli, mushroom, zucchini, and way too much sweet potato!). The ebi shumai were delicate and delicious. For seating, they have both regular tables and, for the more adventurous, tatami rooms for those who dare to sit on the floor. They also have outdoor seating , along with a beautiful fire pit with 8 red Adirondack chairs. A nice touch! This is a must dining spot if you like Japanese food and are visiting Stowe! read more

I have frequented this restaurant many times in the past over the years when it was good, and the last two times I've been here over the past year, it has been subpar at best. I could purchase most of the appetizers at Costco and do a much better job cooking them. Honestly, I would not recommend this establishment to anyone who knows Asian food. Upon making a reservation for hibachi days ahead of time we were told over the phone that we would have a specific window of time to eat before we would have to leave, which felt odd as none of us had ever been told that at other restaurants that offer hibachi. Once we got there and got seated everyone was seated so closely together that there was literally zero elbow room. The waiter was nice but rushed so quickly to get everyone's orders that there was no opportunity to ask questions or request additional service because he was either on to the next or gone in the blink of an eye. He also never really checked in on our table throughout the entire hibachi experience to see if other drinks or anything else were needed. Again, food was fine... nothing to write home about and felt a little overpriced. i went on a thursday around 7. it was pretty busy, but was only a 15 minute wait. for how busy it was, the service was very fast and attentive. we were only in there for an hour. the yakitori skewers tasted pretty good, they were a little dry and a little bland (didn't come with a sauce). the cucumber rolls were crisp and had a good rice/cucumber/nori ratio. the sweet potato roll was verrryyy crisp and fresh, but again a little bland. would be fixed by adding eel sauce but soy sauce mostly did the job. i got the chocolate lava cake for dessert. i kind of wish it came with ice cream instead of whipped cream but it was VERY good nonetheless. very rich and chocolatey and the perfect portion size for one person to eat and not be chocolate-d out. also worth noting that my sister got the crab rangoon and said they were absolutely stuffed with filling. as one of the only sushi places within a 20 mile radius of me, i'd say it's worth it. read more

Service was great. The young lady was kind and engaging. We always get alittle carried away with our order (alittle embarrassing) and always order extra for the next day. Ginger dressing on the salad is not over powering. Love the clear soup...always have to have. The chicken wings and sauce always have us craving until our next visit. General tso chicken is alway my go to and this time I was happy to change the white rice to the chicken fried rice. Husband always orders the house special LO MEIN with chicken and shrimp. The sauce was delicious and the fried rice was the best thing here overall. The sushi was not my favorite. The rolls this day (sushi can vary by chef) we're small. Surprisingly great sushi in inland VT. We originally came here for the hibachi, but we were told all the hibachi spots were full today. Oops, Father's Day. We got seated at a regular table, but I'm jealous of the people who got to sit at the cool tables that have a recess under them so you can sit on the floor to eat at the table in a psuedo-authentic fashion. The only downside to the entire meal, the table was a bit sticky, but not in a syrupy or gummy way, more like a soap residue way. We had wonderful service from Dani who was very ebullient the entire time, and we had a good flow of the meal with appetizer, soup and salad, then the meal all arriving in enough time for the previous course to be eaten without rushing nor waiting too long between either. All the food tasted delicious, fresh, and balanced within itself. I will say that I'm aware sushi is supposed to have a dab of wasabi between the fish and rice, I'm not sad this establishment doesn't do that. I did learn they get daily fish deliveries, not every other day, which really helps ensure you're getting the best experience. I'd highly recommend this place if you're in the area. While it does appear to have a lot of seating, clearly the hibachi might be a good candidate for reservations, to be sure. read more

Wow - I felt ill hours later after eating here. It's one of those Asian fusion American restaurants that only uses 2-3 sauces on everything. We ordered 2 tempura dinner thinking they were like bento box dinners. Little did we realize, it could feed 4 people. The portions are gigantic. Disappointed that the waitress did not share that we over ordered but I don't blame her because she's working for the tip. My husband ordered the Mongolian chicken. Met with family there for lunch on a Thursday to celebrate anniversaries and birthdays. There was 6 of us. We chose not to sit at hibachi tables because we find it harder to visit. We were seated quickly and our server Charlie K was just awesome! With a sense of humor, knowledge and grace he handled our somewhat outgoing group perfectly! Everyone enjoyed their meal from edamame, sushi, veg head roll, beef and seafood dishes there wasn't much for taking home. The only thing that slightly disappointed a couple of people in our group was no hibachi cooked dishes were to be had during lunch. The website is confusing on this issue.
