The hibachi dinners were cooked perfectly by a professional chef that was engaging and added an extra dose of fun to our night out. Our server was friendly and attentive. I really wanted to like this place, which came highly recommended by a few local residents. I can only guess that they hadn't had good sushi. Or even mediocre sushi. Anyway, the miso soup was ...odd tasting. And the salad arrived with a big glob of thick orange "dressing" on top of it, which was not only unappetizing, it overpowered the poor vegetables underneath. I had an assortment of vegetarian rolls. Oh my goodness, my eyes are definitely bigger than my stomach! Sushi Yoshi had a huge selection of food to choose from - anywhere from Asian soups and salads, to sushi rolls, lo mein, hibachi, and more! It's been a minute since I've had hibachi so the whole family ordered that for dinner in addition to sushi rolls. Everything was very good. I loved the Spicy Lobster roll: asparagus and crabstick inside with spicy lobster and scallions outside with a honey wasabi sauce & Volcano roll: shrimp, avocado, rice, and nori, all wrapped and tempura fried with spicy tuna, eel sauce, spicy mayo, and scallions on top. For my main entree, I ordered the chicken & shrimp hibachi which was served with a salad with ginger dressing and miso soup. Sushi Yoshi came highly recommended to us and while it was fine we found it overhyped and overpriced. One of the BEST things about this restaurant is how allergy aware they are, making it great for groups of people with various food allergies and preferences. We also loved that they had multiple outdoor dining options including very distanced picnic tables that still had table service which was great given our party had a vaccinated but immunocompromised person who's still on partial limitations. We ordered a mix of sushi and rice-based dishes. We found the sushi rolls to be VERY small (6 pieces and not very stuffed--probably half the girth of the rolls we get elsewhere) and overpriced for what you get. My sesame tofu was just fine. Nothing special. The sauce lacked much flavor and the rice was a little dry Ans it came with like 4 pieces of broccoli that were undercooked. We also ordered dumplings and had no leftovers versus having two small portion normally. Overall we wouldn't come back here except to see friends and we'd probably have snacks beforehand so that we weren't as hungry and didn't spend as much only to be left hungry and not have leftovers. read more

The review is mostly about the service. We came in here for hibachi around 2pm and were seated immediately. When we were being seated we mentioned we are looking for the lunch menu. We also mentioned to the waiting staff that we will be ordering the lunch hibachi option. The staff however charged us dinner prices claiming they served us dinner portions. We just ended up paying it to not cause a nuisance but this is something they need to clarify in advance since the price difference is almost 2x. The hibachi pit master put on the usual fire show. He flung food into our mouths and sake into our throats. We ended up with only a $200 bill because we basically only ordered hibachi for 4 out of 9 people because the portions were pretty large. We had great intentions to come to a yummy sushi place while in Stowe. Reviews were mixed but we were in the mood for sushi. We called to get a reservation and they said they can only accept them 30 minutes out and to call back 30 minutes before we want to come. We called back 30 minutes before we wanted to go and were told it would be an hour wait. That was pushing it a bit but agreed. We showed up 10 minutes early to make sure we were good and was told they were about 15 minutes behind so our 6:15 reservation would now be 6:30. Mind you, we called at 5 to get the reservation. We were finally seated at 7:00. When we sat down we were told sushi would take 45 minutes or more. The people next to us said they had been waiting over an hour for sushi. We left and went to a neighboring place and had great service. Note to management: if you cannot serve this many people, don't seat them. Let people know. There were a lot of angry customers complaining and the waiters were kind but strapped by terrible management decisions making it impossible to do their jobs. read more

The staff were friendly and attentive, took my order in a fast manner (as I already knew what I wanted from looking at the online menu) they kept my water and beverage filled (which is a big plus in my book) the food and salad and appetizers arrived in a timely proper fashion. My family of four stopped in because we had a craving for Asian food and hadn't had teppanyaki in while. For those who don't know what teppanyaki is, it is the thing where a chef puts on a type of "cooking show" and makes the food in front of you. It is the thing that made Benihana famous. The food came out fast surprising with the amount of people present, and was really yummy. We ordered salmon, scallops, and shrimp teppanyaki (from the hibachi menu). We stopped into Sushi Yoshi during a staycation weekend in Stowe, party of four late on a Friday night during the "COVID Fun" times. With the usual expectations of reservations/call ahead as well as the mask expectations, we were seated right in time. While waiting, I told the front desk I was going to the bar to get my son a drink. When I walked back to the front desk, they claimed they called our name and we didn't respond. Therefore, they gave our table away and we could go to the back of the list and wait another 30+ minutes for table. I'm shocked by the 3.5 star rating. We went in on a Tuesday evening for dinner, and the place was packed. We got sushi and sashimi combo and Mansfield roll. I don't love California roll that came with the combo and requested to sub with Alaskan roll, which they happily did. Sushi was really great quality (a bit smaller in sizes but again great quality and taste). We got green tea Mochi ice cream, which was fabulous. The server was incredibly nice and responsive. We walked over 2 miles along a path to come to this restaurant that advertised a luncheon special seven days a week opening up at 11:30 AM. We get there on Thursday, October 28 and the place is completely closed up no sign anywhere that says that they are closed. The number they had listed online was incorrect so we couldn't contact anybody before we came to the restaurant. We are very very disappointed I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. We now found a sign that says closed 2 Day. CU Friday. Why wasn't that information on an answering machine and on the web. I had a very nice expensive lunch for ONE here. $32 including tip to be exact!!! I went in during the weekday lunch hour and only 3 people were there. So I looked at the lunch specials and went a little crazy because I am serious about the review. The waitress was very friendly and invited me to try the sea urchin, but I wasn't ready for that yet. I would like to try it and go for the next go round at dinner instead of lunch. The night ambiance is usually a little more sexy and romantic. Solid place (there are a few around VT) with a semi-authentic Asian infused atmosphere decked out in teak (or some kind of warm-vibed, wood-like material) and horizontal branches nesting in the upper seating partitions. Sushi was decent though not wrapped tight enough, a sure sign of an inexperienced sushi kitchen. Thankfully there really isn't that much to it, at least in a super non high-end place like Sushi Yoshi. Sushi Yoshi...I like saying that in my mind. It was a school vac. weekend and very busy in town, but server was really good and attentive; I say that a lot and am not sure that I should: isn't it easy to be attentive and knowledgeable about your menu?
