Poor service. We watched as the employees chatted and joked but walked by our table and looked the other way. The sushi was mediocre. One thing that was gross was the bussed dishes were stored right next to our booth. Take the dirty dishes to the kitchen! They don't belong on the floor! Look at all of your tables when you walk by! One of our rolls was a special order because of an allergy, they had to remake it because they got it wrong. I ate there 3 years ago passing thru town and it was great. Order limit on sushi order? I've been here many times since the place opened. Never had they told me I have to order one order at at time. I usually order all that We eat at one time for both me and the wifey. The. I ask the chef I have to eat one order then order another order so on and so on. Then I asked if he's quick. Been in this place multiple time before in the last 8 years and service has been up and down but came couple times most recently and this place has to be my number 1 now vs big tuna and gold fish and red salmon! My fiancé and I LOVE this place! Occasionally the service is a little slow (maybe we're not regulars enough, idk), but the food is ALWAYS great! Honestly the best sushi I've ever had. I've gone to a few different places here in the AV and they just don't compare. Portions, variety, and all you can eat are great! She Ordered 1 roll that is also served on the all you can eat menu served at the bar as she waited for me. When I got here I asked if we could switch to the bar for the all you can eat, they still wanted to charge me for the roll. Argue policy all you want, you lack compassion and understanding. You're barely worth the value of all you can eat, your crap customer service skills kill any benefit that your mediocre sushi has to offer at all you can eat. Sorry to the planeswalker sushi chef. You're wasting your talents here. Next time a sheriff pulls you over (waitress, if you claim to be one) dont argue the ticket it isn't just policy, it's the law! Terrible experience. Went at 4:00 to beat the crowd but it didn't matter. People coming in after us (4:30, 4:45 et) got their food before us. We waited 45 minutes before complaining. And the waitress (who was new and couldn't pronounce the word "sashimi") told us "sorry, it will be 5 minutes". Then proceeded to take food to other tables. Went with a group of 10 early on a Saturday evening. About 4:30. They were not very busy. Our table was dirty. My dish was dirty. Service was very slow. The lone waitress was running around. I had that vibe that we should leave, but ignored it. In the end, we were largely ignored. The food was below average. Many rolls make use of a fish blend mush that just didn't sit right. Rolls were sloppy, loose rice, and not skillfully made. When the bill came, they felt inclined to over charge us. Not a good experience overall and will not be back. read more

Great rolls, great staff and fun chefs! Share a few sake bombs with them and you'll have a great night. Even the waitstaff (at least our waitress) seemed to be in good spirits. Spots at the bar fill up quickly for the $24.95 all you can eat sushi, but we went on a Saturday night so that's expected. The Ichiban roll and Rainbow roll were excellent. The shrimp crunch roll was tasty but had a bit too much "stuff" ladled on top. I could do without the extra tempura & glaze on top. So many rolls and other tasty looking dishes to choose from, I'll definitely be back soon. They've been here since March '06 and seem to be doing well. All but two tables were filled that night. Big Tuna is building a new spot a few blocks away, so we'll see if they can keep the quality high with a little competition in the area. read more

Im not a sushi expert, but this place is great, the all you could eat at the bar is not only sushi but any appetizers that you want to eat, try the dynamite which is like crab and cream cheese..the fish is always fresh, and the chefs are on point, the only bad moment in miso is waiting for room to open up at the bar on Weekend nights..... Btw Big Tuna and Miso....I would say its a toss-up, you cant go wrong with both.... read more

Tonight -- on a Monday -- we walked in to a relatively empty place around 5:30 and by the time we left a little after 7 the place was PACKED. Sometimes I read over my Yelp reviews and I wonder if it was really that bad. I then find myself thinking that maybe I had an off day, or the place had an off day and I think I should give them another try. This weekend, I found Miso in my crosshairs... It's been over a year since I've been to Miso but it doesn't feel like that long.... When I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised that Miso had gotten an updated look. New, bright-red paint coated the walls with "sushi bar appropriate" art hanging on the walls. There are some minor design flaws like the TV being behind you when you are at the bar. The bar was cleaner and shinier and had "Miso" written on them. There are brand new, modern lanterns hanging up and the whole place as a shiny new vibe. The old smell of sewage seems to have cleared the air. I did not visit the bathroom on this trip (see my Hometown review as to why I go before I leave the house) Unfortunately, fresh paint cannot cover old Miso. I went at 3:08 (this is important because dinner prices start at 3. My fault, not theirs) and the places was active but not crowded. Where I would be waiting forty minutes for a place at the bar at Big Tuna, Miso was wide open with only two people at the bar. Some of the tables were occupied. This is how I would love to see Big Tuna or Harbour. But not Miso, I understand why I can get a table immediately at Miso. There were only two sushi chefs there and that turned out to be more than enough. The sushi portion are not generous, with a paper thin slice of whatever you ordered served on rice. The rolls are, at best, uninspired. I'm sorry guys but those are California Rolls with slight servings of other things inside. Double the portions... Several sushi pieces were served warm which is pretty much the opposite of the definition of sushi and they sushi chef was about as friendly as asking a neighbor for a favor. Sure they'll do it but you're probably bothering them. I'm glad to see that the food and service have not gone down but there are enough sushi places in the valley to copy from if you are doing something wrong. read more

So we went to pick up our order 20 minutes later and they didn't even have our order or any evidence that we called in to order. We even double checked that we had called the right place and we did. Also the service was really horrible, our waitress didn't even come to check up on us often and we didn't even get our 3 other sushi we ordered or our coke, so we ended up canceling those, and all they said was sorry. My family used to be regulars at this spot. This used to be a good location but all that has CLEARLY changed. I just recently was there for the AYCE. Every time I was remotely getting over an issue another would pop up: 1. WAY TOO MUCH SAUCE ON EVERYTHING! The pictures are absolutely not a representation of how they actually make it. 2. They couldnt handle many people at a time and made everyone order one thing at a time in like 10 to 15 minute intervals. 3. Couldn't remember details on special orders. Asked for no eel sauce and red oil instead, roll still came slathered in eel sauce. 4. Dumpling soup seemed to have a TON of pepper poured into it. Tried it because the chef fucked up and got it for someone who didnt want it. So I took it, instant regret, could not eat it without choking. According to the chef it was "very delicious." 5. Not a single refill was given nor asked if needed. 6. Had to literally hold plates, bowls, etc over my head to get the waitresses to take them away. Waitresses sat people but mostly stood around at the register. 7. I was never offered/given wasabi, ginger, or a small bowl for sauce. I had to get up and go get the bowl myself. Had to ask the chef for the wasabi and soy sauce after my first roll. This is the last time we skip out on our regular spot for this place. After this last visit, I would rather wait two hours than substitute for this place. What happened to you guys? read more

So the reason for the 3 stars: I'll start with the positive. The place was clean. And the food was good. The negative there was only one waitress. So it took her about 10mins for her to get to our table and take our drink order. Then when we ordered our food it took about 30mins to get here. I'm trying to get the waitress to come to my table to I can order more food and she keeps ignoring me. So that sucks. Because it's obvious she's frustrated having to do this alone and that's why she gives the customers an attitude. If the service changed this place would be a lot better. Also someone just walked in at 9:21 wanting to eat here and they told them they where closing in 9 minutes. Online it says they close at 10 so they should change that.
