The space included some really great backdrops for photos. Food: The prices did feel a little high compared to most restaurants but you do get a lot of food. Our group ordered an array of items from Peruvian, Mexican to seafood and kids meals. All the food came out timely! The team was so attentive to our needs and even brought over a table for us to use for our treats and cake. The manager even walked over with extra plates, napkins, forks and cake cutting tools.

Looked like an interesting place. Goodness, it was NOT disappointing! Vibe inside was eclectic, colorful, and fun. Our server was fabulous! Friendly but not obtrusive. Knew the menu well. Did everything with a smile! We started with their fresh made guac and the best freshly made tortilla chips we've ever had in a restaurant. We shared the verde salad...spinach, arugula, chocio corn, white beans, grilled avocado slices, jicama, pepitas, honey garlic dressing. Kinda exciting to get a salad unlike any other! So good! Hubby had the Chochinita Pibil...yucatan slow-roasted pork with all the fixings (look at the menu for details) and accompanied by their freshly made, banana leaf wrapped corn tortillas. I had the Peruvian Street Chicken, stacked high on the plate with, among other things, olive tapenade and the most delicious charred lightly smashed potatoes. It was HUGE and easily could have served 2-3 people (needless to say, we doggie-bagged mire than half of it!). Again, unique and taste-bud exploding flavors! Hubby tried, and enjoyed, their hose brewed Mexican lager which he says was crisp and malty. I cannot fail to mention the beverage I tried (on server's recommendation), the Mole Dream Mezcalita. Spicy. Cold. Good to the last savored sip! Will we go again? YES! Might even bring some friends for a quick road trip!

The silverware is flimsy and I wish it had been more sturdy. The place looks like they might have just moved in because there is not a lot of decoration on the walls. Not sure if I'd want go back.

I especially liked the nonalcoholic choices while my husband enjoyed the craft beer selection. Food and service were both excellent. The deviled eggs are a must, and that's from someone who generally doesn't eat them. The dinner menu isn't terribly large but what they do, they do very well. Dessert menu rotates but the pots de crème we ordered was amazing. Prices and portion sizes are pretty reasonable. We intend to make Borrowed Time a regular stop during or trips to SW Michigan.

They were both delicious. The meatballs were flavorful and moist. The soup tasted fresh and creamy with little chunks within. Those both were my absolute favorite. Chicken had a nice sauce/flavor to it, though was a tad on the dry side for me. Atmosphere was alright, we enjoyed the outdoor seating and never went inside so cannot speak on that. Service was alright. Nothing to write home about. Not sure I'd make this a place to visit a second time. Thought its worth a try once.

Most of us liked the tacu tacu over the picarones because of the savory flavor and crispy exterior. Both apps could use a side of the dipping sauce since whatever was poured on top was not enough. The red lentil soup with a hint of sourness was a hit among all of us. I preferred the aji de champinones (mushrooms) vs the gallina (chicken) because the mushroom had soaked up the flavors of the sauce while the chicken, though well cooked, seemed quite under seasoned. The ceviche, sour as expected, was fresh and tasty, we wish the portion size was larger. Everything was packed in compostable containers which is always a cherry on top. I'm sure we'll be back again!

I sat outside on the covered patio and was immediately welcomed by Cardyn, who was absolutely exceptional throughout the evening. I started with the Hibiscus Lemon Mezgarita, an unusual take on a margarita made with mezcal, lemon, agave-hibiscus syrup, and orange bitters. I love a good margarita, and this was one I was very glad I chose. Next came the homemade tortilla chips and Salsa Roja. The chips were fresh, warm, and had just the right amount of salt, while the salsa was blended exactly the way I like it--not overly chunky, but not so smooth that the individual flavors disappeared. For my main course, I had the Braised Lamb Tacos, and they were wonderful. The lamb was incredibly flavorful and practically melted in my mouth, while the other ingredients each added something without overpowering one another. Between the food, the atmosphere, and exceptional service, Roca was the perfect ending to a busy day. I'm not entirely sure whether I chose Roca or Roca chose me, but either way, I'm very glad I ended up there. Five stars and a restaurant I would happily visit again.
