I visited Amazing Myanmar Asian Cuisine today. This place has changed hands several times but has…read morenew owners as of just a week or two ago. The new owners/servers/cooks/experts are amazing!! I asked for help choosing traditional Burmese dishes and I had Burmese tea leaf salad that I have wanted to try forever and a great noodle dish. I was told that the tea leaves and crunchy beans in the salad are imported directly from Burma/Myanmar. I've been looking for a way to try this dish for years and wow, it is absolutely incredible at this restaurant. The owners were very friendly and helped me pick out dishes from their menu. Talking to them it turned out that they have many, many years of restaurant experience and it shows here. I can't wait to visit again and try more new-to-me foods. Really, this kind of experience is what I think is making Grand Rapids the interesting place I want to be part of. Kudos to these chefs.

However, there were still enough options to try different things. We had the stirfried Myanmar rice with chicken and the Myanmar's curry chicken. We asked for medium spice and the amount of spice for me was perfect, I could've handled a little more, but I truly enjoyed the way it was prepared. The portions are healthy and the prices are extremely reasonable.

First off I want to mention that Carmen is one of the most amazing servers I have ever had, and…read moreeveryone at our table felt the same. She immediately made us feel at home, was amazing with her menu descriptions and advice, and was present without being overly so. The restaurant is gorgeous, it's inside the Amway Grand Hotel. Carmen gave us plenty of great recommendations so we started off with brussel sprouts, calamari, and burrata. Hands down the brussel sprouts where everybody's favorite! We all had a different entree for dinner, and it was the first day of the new menu. I had the strip steak, it was supposed to be medium rare, it was definitely medium but so forgivable because of the excellent flavors. Others at the table tried the halibut, the salmon, the short rib, and the walleye fish and chips. Each meal was fully loved by it's recipient. We had a fantastic bottle of Caymus with our meal, plus one of my guests have a beautiful cocktail with a watermelon. I forgot what it's called. We didn't really want dessert, but creme brulee is my favorite and I wanted to taste the new passion fruit flavor. It wasn't my favorite, but that could also be because I'm a vanilla creme brulee devotee. The presentation was beautiful. Overall, I would 100% return to this location when back in the area and I will be asking for Carmen!

I ordered a takeout order - their Spring Market Salad, for $20, the most expensive of their three…read moresalads. It came to about $21.50 after tax. THIS (pictured) is what I got!!! Horrible. It was truly about 80 cents worth of food and there was nothing good about it. The white stuff? A slurry of goat cheese and water. The pink? A slurry of tuna fish and water. Absolutely disgusting. Save yourself the time and money!
