I have found the SA's here to be pushy and have brought this up with management before but was assured they don't work on commission and there's nothing to worry about. I inquired about exchanging a La Mer lip balm I was given for Christmas and was told I couldn't exchange it because they couldn't find it in their system and I'm not going to ask the person for the receipt. There is no other place around that even sells La Mer! It's not like I was asking for a cash refund for it. All I wanted to do was exchange it towards something else. This isn't the first time I've had an issue here. I guess I'll start ordering things online from now on instead of helping a local business, which is unfortunate but with policies like that I'll take my money elsewhere. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. I had a lash extension appointment, which cost $200... The girl worked on me for two hours... and tells me I'm sorry I can't finish your left eye because I'm overbooked and I have an appointment after you if you want you can come back. I'm thinking two hours my lashes should be done I've had my lashes done many many times at other places. She ripped the adhesive patch from under my eye and ripped my sensitive skin off... Besides that I had no lashes on my eyes. I don't know what she was doing for two hours... Maybe I was the first person that she ever put lashes on in her life. There was no manager for me to speak to... Not only do I have no lashes on and I have a party to go to tonight but I also have skin missing from under my eye. The place is horrible... I don't know how their other services are but if you have to get lash extensions save yourself because I'm in pain. And literally have no lashes! HORRIBLE read more

I went to Mirror Mirror yesterday to see if they could help me with my makeup for my wedding day after a horrible trial run at a local salon where we are getting married. Amber came to my rescue and was able to do a bridal consultation right then and there. I do not believe I have ever looked better in my life I had no idea make up could change your face like that and I knew I could not have my wedding without Amber there to do my makeup. She did not have my date booked, miraculously, and she will come do me and my three bridesmaids makeup on our big day. I am so excited!!! I have been a customer here for 2 years. I have had services here and shopped the retail area. The products are high quality and the staff is very knowledgeable. I would air on the side of caution with creating appointments here. The staff is at varying levels of customer service experience so it is best to confirm over the phone. While the business is aiming to switch to their online booking system it is not yet a solidified process, so again I recommend double checking bookings. There have been surprises in the past where the wrong beautician was assigned to my service and my appointments were rescheduled due to scheduling conflicts. Made an appointment online for a 3:30 bikini wax and spray tan. Had to seriously psych myself up as this was my first bikini wax. I get there and they tell me my appointments not until 4:30. Well my text confirmation and email confirmation says 3:30. They basically asked me to wait until 4:30 even though it was their mistake. Probably should have just tried to fit me in right away. I returned to mirror mirror to attain the same service as the previous visit. The two visits were vastly different in every way. As I entered the store all I was thinking of was am I dressed appropriately for the spray tan, did I prepare, am I on time, did I bring plenty of cash to tip, take off my rings, etc.... Upon reaching the counter I became some sort of ghost. The receptionist walked away without a word after assisting the two women ahead of me. An older woman asked if she could help me haughtily then walked away without a word, never to return, the queen apparently had to do someone's makeup before she had to rush off and have snow white sent away.. mirror mirror indeed... Finally as I was about to give up a woman approached me. She was nice but had none of the knowledge or expertise of the previous aesthetician who assisted me. The first visit I reviewed previously was wonderful. The woman was a pretty petite blond who was a wealth of knowledge and shared it as she was applying the tan. This woman gave me no information. Then as I was paying in response to my question about a lotion that would prolong my tan she provided me with an at home tanning mousse that cost as much as my session. I felt so insecure and uncomfortable at that point after my time in that atmosphere, with such treatment I just accepted and paid for it. I paid 45 dollars for a product though I just paid for the service professionally. Why would I want a home tan spray or mousse? After the spray session she advised me to dress that I'd be fine though I was wet for quite some time. She provided no information without a preceding question. I will never go there again. I went in feeling happy I left feeling like a chump. I also asked for a deep tan that was unnoticeable. The entire experience was a waste in every way. I left over $100 poorer and sunk. read more

Go to place for great advice on skin care and makeup. All the ladies that work here are spot on with recommendations and truly listen to what you are looking for. The first time I walked in I had no idea what primer was, how to use bronzer or why I should be wearing blush. They politely held my hand through stepping up my daily routine and showed me how to use everything they recommended. I now go to them for my eyebrows and all skin care needs. I try to purchase all my cosmetics from here. Although as pricey as Sephora, it's locally owned. The only other makeup shop in town is MAC which is great but Mirror Mirror offers different brands. I'm a brand mix-and-match kind of girl. The staff really knows their stuff. I'm not the kind of person who can just wear any makeup so knowledge about product is key when I'm shopping for cosmetics. I've always left with the perfect products for me. Yes, it's pricey... I have never left without spending more than $100, but I'm willing to pay that extra amount for the great service I receive there. read more

I like Mirror, Mirror for their large selection. I visit there about once a year to change out lipstick colors(I don't wear it often) and get some new eye shadow. I usually purchase 3-5 new tubes of lipstick....that's about $100 in LIPSTICK. I will often ask some questions about a skin care line I'm interested in and generally the staff is knowledgeable about the product I'm inquiring about. Last year I would've given a 4, possibly 5 star rating based on past experiences, however, after the last visit, I'm trying really hard not to decrease my rating. So let's discuss this....the staff. The were, kinda dismissive and borderline rude. It was a Sunday and just two associates working, but it was just me in the shop. I asked the women who asked if I needed anything, for some help and advice with picking out some new lipstick colors. At first reaction, she seemed a little annoyed that I asked. As the time I spent there rolled on, she increasingly became annoyed. I even caught her rolling her eyes when I asked if there were any other suggestions she had. Maybe this isn't the most favorite part of her job.....but this experience paled in comparison to the service I had come to know and rely on. read more

I recently had a facial with Therin (of whom I emphatically recommend), and it was a fabulous experience. What a gem in Burlington! It's rare to find Natura Bissé products and facials, and Mirror Mirror offers Natura Bissé facials at a third of the price that one pays in New York. The entire store is replete with unique products and lines that one does not see locally, such as La Mer, etc. I thought that the staff was very helpful, and the treatments helped me to pass a rainy day visit to the green state of Vermont! Gift Card Buyers beware. If you are thinking about purchasing a gift card for someone at Mirror Mirror, I caution you. I received a $100 gift card for a birthday gift from a relative and when I went to use it, it showed a balance of $0. I was questioned as to whether I had used the card and just "forgot". I said that was impossible as I hadn't been to Mirror Mirror since receiving the card (who takes back a card from a cashier with $0 balance anyway?). They took my information and said they would have to call me back later that day, because they needed to look into the main system. I had to follow up with calls for 5 days in a row for someone to call me back the following Friday night. I sincerely feel that if I hadn't hounded them, I would have never received a call back. They told me that the card had been redeemed on XX date, along with a charge of $200 for spa services. When I explained that I didn't even receive the gift card until a month after the date they claimed the card was redeemed and have never had those services and asked for them to look up the gift card purchase date and name, they said they had no way to do that. They said that you need to view gift cards like "cash" which doesn't make any sense since I HAD the card in my possession. The whole attitude of the conversation was one of assuming that I was trying to "cheat" them with a used up gift card, and compared my situation to a person trying to return a used item to the store that they don't sell. They even turned it on me and asked, why did I wait so long to use the card? I understand that mix ups happen and they are running a business, but the attitude towards me was so off-putting, assuming from the beginning that I was in the wrong and trying to cheat them, never once considering it was something on their end. I have had many disappointing experiences at Mirror Mirror over the years, routinely not having product in stock then trying to push alternative colors that clearly don't match my skin tone, to the annoying fact that they don't post any prices on their makeup, clearly intentional. This most recent experience has pushed me to write a review, something I have never done before because I felt it important to warn other potential customers. I know there are a lot of people in the area who feel similarly about Mirror Mirror but are forced to go back because we have such few options in Burlington. I really try hard to support local businesses, even if it means less convenience and higher prices, but this is one VT business I will no longer support. read more

I urge any customer to be wary of one of the owners. When I realized the $149 skin cream I purchased could only be returned for store credit, I visited the store 2 days later, hoping to be able to address my ignorance of the policy with the owner. He encouraged me to keep the cream for two weeks and gave me two small samples to try. His promise to me was this: Try the samples for 2 weeks and if not satisfied, return the cream for full credit on my card. I took him at his word. Once the 2 weeks were up, I phoned him to arrange the return and the credit. He said he was busy at the moment and would get right back to me. He never did. I phoned again and left a message with one of the staff asking that he call me. He never returned my second call. There is no question that it was my responsibility to familiarize myself with store return policy but I took him at his word. I then coontacted my credit card customer service department to appeal this. While they were looking into the situation I returned the unopened product to the store with a note to the owner advising him of the fact I was working with the credit card company but did not see the owner. This has been a 5 month ordeal. The owner told the credit card company I had buyer's remorse. He never acknowledged his promise to me. At this time, he has the $149 product, I have been charged $100 and received a credit of $50 because I have no actual proof of our initial conversation. Only my word. read more

I would not recommend this salon to anyone looking to get a spray tan. My first experience here getting a spray tan I was dripping in the tan, smearing and completely uneven without given any way to dry myself before leaving. I asked the woman politely if she wouldn't mind coming back in and evening it out. She came back in and poorly attempted to fix the smears. I decided to let it go, tipped well and hoped it was because she was new. After showering the next day I had to go to a different salon to get touched up. Maybe a month later I was left with no other options but to return to this salon right before graduation for a new spray tan. I was nervous to see the same girl but I knew I had no other appointments available so I gave her another chance. This tan was even worse than the first time. I called the salon as soon as I got home explaining the situation. They told me to let it sit and if I didn't like it by the next day they could touch it up for me. At this point I had events to go to for senior week and graduation that it took over my entire day having to hide. I drove back to the salon an hour later explained the situation again, showing them how I looked like an absolute clown, and I said I didn't want them to touch me again - just to refund my tan. I was told I could only get a store credit and that the manager was out and would be in touch when they got back. The day was ruined, and I went to senior week and graduation looking like a creature. I never heard back from the salon and was out 60$ from the experience. While I was upset about the image of the tan I was more so disappointed in the lack of professionalism from the salon. As a recent college graduate with friends from all over Burlington I will be sure to not recommend this salon again. read more

Their nail techs never fail to amaze, and my skin is always glowing after a facial or makeup consultation. I recently attended a Trish McEvoy event with a celebrity makeup artist, and have never been so in love with every single product I purchased. If you ever want to go and test out some products, I would encourage you to bring your own applicators/brushes. They carry wonderful products but it appeared to me that they have very sloppy practices. What establishment now days doesn't use single use applicators? After communicating with management, I was assured that all brushes are sanitized after each use and I can only trust that this is the case. I had to agree with Lindsay however that it would be wise for the girls to reinforce this with their patrons. Had I been told this, I would have left there feeling much better! read more

I popped in here on a whim as I was only in Burlington for the day. I have to say that the staff here listened to my skin issues and recommended products based on my my specific issues. They were kind, the right kind of attentive (not pushy), and really new their products. I did. It feel rushed or pressured to buy products. I did buy some items and I can tell you from someone who is guilty of buyers remorse a lot there was non to be found here. I highly recommend Lindsay and her team. Be careful about the extremely restrictive purchasing policy here. They are often out of stock on items displayed in the store. They encourage you to place an "order" for the item by paying in advance. On two occasions I agreed to this. No one called, and when I called two weeks after paying, I was told it would be another two weeks before the product might arrive. I asked for a refund and was told that only store credit could be provided: no refunds are ever given to customers. Many of the cosmetic lines they carry provide online discounts and quick shipping. Unless it's in stock, don't buy it! read more

I have purchased from them many times and have been pleased with their service on the sales front. In January, I was encouraged to purchase an expensive item that I found out when cashing out was not in stock. (I purchased several items at that visit.) Three months have gone by without any follow through from the store about delivery -- I have gone in three times inquiring about the status. The last to cancel the purchase only to find out I could not receive a refund -- store credit only. For a product I never received. I have reached out to the owner and have received no reply. Terrible customer service. They have nice products -- but be sure you want them before you leave the store. (And I can assure you, the agents are working on a commission. They are very nice and professional, but not good for older women or younger girls. We went there as a wedding party and the make-up for bridesmaids was okay, but not spectacular. They cake on the foundation and do very little with eyes. There seems to be two modes -- either Amy Winehouse or nothing. All of the bridesmaids ended up putting on more eye make-up and the Mother of the Bride washed her face and started again. Waste of money. read more

The facial was amazing and they had top of the line skin care products, but there were a few disappointments. I was disappointed that there was no consolation as they described on the website and with acne prone skin I expected there to be more extractions, but that wasn't what happened. My esthetician was so lovely and she made sure I was relaxed and had a great experience. We had a great time talking while the facial was going on. The only downside was the extraction portion of the facial. I am still suffering from skin care issues when my appointment was only four days ago. read more

As a woman who appreciates high end cosmetics and skin care, I love the IDEA of Mirror Mirror. They carry some of the nicer brands in hair, skin, perfume and cosmetics. I love that they have a spa as well, and maybe one day will come back to try that out. Here is why there are only two stars..... The customer service is deplorable! Last year, I ordered a Laura Mercier foundation that was out of stock at the time. Paid for it in full at the store, and was told by the sales woman that it would be shipped directly to my house and that I would receive a phone call when it was on its way. Had no problem with that as I like supporting local businesses. Three weeks go by, and I hear nothing. Left a message wondering where my foundation was, and after 3 days of no response, I called again. Was told by a very ride woman that it was on its way to the store and I could pick it up if I wanted to in a couple of days. They would call. Asked about the shipping to my house, and she said that would be extra. What???? Was so frustrated that I said fine, I'll get it at the damn store. Imagine my surprise when it took two additional weeks for the foundation to arrive at the store.... When I picked it up there was no apology, no explanation, nothing. I was furious. After that, I took a break from Mirror Mirror. Came back this past holiday season to do some shopping and was ready to spend a good amount to replenish some products and try some new things, but they did not get my business. After being in there for over 20 minutes (it wasn't busy, mind you) I had not been greeted by any of the women working there, and when I had questions they were all far too busy perfecting their own makeup and chit chatting. Ridiculous store! Go to Sephora's website, honestly. Not worth the time or money here. read more

My makeup artist favored Zooey Deschanel, which is nice if you're going to sit nose to nose with someone for thirty six minutes or so.
