Mirror Mirror is a great place to buy products you won't be able to find elsewhere locally. Their showroom is chock full of good stuff with helpful saleswomen to answer your questions and help you try things. In terms of spa services, Billie gives the best massage in town. Shannon is my favorite aesthetician there and also works on the sales floor from time to time. She's extremely friendly, gives a mean facial and does great brow work, too. I haven't had the mani and pedis there but they carry a lot of interesting, cutting-edge polishes that are fun to look at. read more

After many visits to Mirror Mirror- I'm finally just over it. This company is a total disaster. My brother generously sent me a $350 gift card for Christmas, but because he left out my middle initial in the email address, it never arrived. When he reached out to resolve it, their response was basically, 'Too bad, we can't reissue the card.' He wasn't even asking for a reissue--just confirmation it hadn't been redeemed and to send it to the correct email. Instead, they gave him the runaround, claiming they needed to involve some mythical 'IT guy' who clearly never showed up. Multiple emails later? Silence. We finally canceled the charge. Similarly ... about 2 months ago, I stopped by to buy mascara and asked about a concealer. The associate didn't bother asking what I was looking for--just grabbed the first one she saw and tossed it on the counter and began ringing me up. When I asked about the color, she looked at me like I was the worst kind of audacious and wasting her time... she handed me off to someone else who didn't yet have knowledge of the product they had for concealer. Then there was last year, when they snuck (and obviously charged me for) a $40 bronzer case into my purchase without informing me of the item. Then - I went for a facial where they upsold me with a "dermaplane" feature which in the end was not done with a professional tool but a plastic razor you can get at a drug store. Finally, I once got my brows laminated there and it just didn't work- like at all... and they responded with "oh yeah this service doesn't work on thicker eyebrows sometimes" end of story.... Like I'm sorry then why didn't you say that to start?? I've heard many accounts of similar experiences but I'll leave my review to reflect my experiences as the ones I've heard are already outlined in other reviews. Writing on behalf of a friend who does not have a Yelp. My friend was recently shade-matched for a Laura Mercier concealer by the employee, Will, who quickly shade-matched her perfectly as a 2C. Afterwards, Will went in the drawer to grab her the shade and checked her out. When she got home, the shade was the wrong shade (2N). You would assume not a big deal; people make mistakes and she had hoped it would blend correctly. It did not, so she decided to go exchange the product for the correct shade. Prior to this, a few of our friends had stated that they similarly have been shade-matched by Will perfectly and then given the wrong shades at the register. All of these friends went to make exchanges when they realized the colors were wrong, and were told the colors were not in stock for exchange and they could only receive store credit. Similarly, my friend went to the store to make the exchange, only to find that the color she was matched with was not available. She was told that they would not restock the color soon, and that they could only give her store credit and help her find a different product. My friend ended up choosing a different product to purchase w/ store credit so she would never have to shop there again, and was very frustrated. We do not think it is a coincidence that Will is selling people the wrong shades of makeup when their correct shade is out of stock. Additionally, the employees working there seem to be aware this is happening given their reaction when we told them the situation. We love to support small businesses, but it is wrong to consistently deceive customers. None of us will be shopping there ever again. read more

Because the Stowe location doesn't have its own page, I'm going to rate both locations at once. I was going to the Burlington location during the pandemic and shortly thereafter for waxes. I have PCOS (Google for further details), but they always made me feel comfortable about it and I always tipped accordingly. This weekend I'm in Stowe on a staycation. I'm having a massage, nails, and a few other things done at a full spa in the area, but I specifically chose Mirror Mirror for the wax because the always made me feel comfortable. In short, my appointment was for 12:45 today. Someone just called to say they saw my note about PCOS, so I don't qualify for the normal 15 minute appointment. I haven't had this happen at the Burlington location, but I said that's totally fine I just need it to get done. She said they would have to move my appointment more than an hour later. I have other stuff to do so I declined and told them to cancel. I'm already self conscious enough about my medical issues without this kind of singling out. Furthermore, you call me an hour and a half before to tell me this when I booked three days ago???? Extremely unprofessional and demeaning and I will not be back. i went in to purchase several pieces of makeup. Whole at the checkout counter, I inquired about the cost of a cologne for men. I was quoted 120.00. When I got home, the invoice charged me 190.00. I did not want it at that price. I went to return it and they would not refund me and honor my mistake. Apparently there can only be an exchange. it was clearly their fault (not mine) and they would not honor their mistake. Mirror Mirror does not put prices on anything, so the customer is dependent on clerks answering my questions. I was told that the clerk "should have scanned it to get the correct price", basically admitting that they made the mistake. Don't make the same mistake I did of getting a lash lift here. My lashes are so messed up and won't go back to normal for over 2 months or until they grow out. For $85 I would expect the lash artist to take the time to make sure the lashes are going in the right direction and to make sure they are at least even. Billie didn't even bother to curl the lashes they are sticking straight up, one eye is only really half done. On the eye where the lashes Stick straight back she also somehow managed to mess up my bottom lashes. After all this I didn't even get a refund, I was given a credit on a future service. read more

I wish I looked at the other 1 star reviews before going here because they're all too similar to what I experienced. I started going to Mirror Mirror after looking for a particular service, and knew of them from living in the area for pretty much my whole life. Initially I was very happy with everything, although their prices were on the pricier side, I didn't mind paying more because everything was fine. On their website, they have a list of their services with their corresponding prices, and they also have a service through their website to book appointments online. Once they confirm your desired appointment, you receive a confirmation email from them stating what service you're getting, the date of the appointment and the time. I used this online booking service multiple times. One time I went in for my appointment and after it finished I went to pay, when checking out they charged me for the next level up of the service I was getting, not the level I booked for my appointment. I was confused and still fairly new going there, so I let it go. It didn't sit right with me though after reviewing my confirmation email and making sure I did in fact book the right "level" I wanted, and they did overcharge me more than what my appointment was supposed to be for. I called and after speaking with someone at the front desk, she assured me that the technician "thought" I needed the next level and therefore charged me for it... without asking me or saying literally anything to me about that decision. Not to cause any bad blood, I again let it go, but wasn't thrilled. A few more times, no problems. Then, it happened again. And this time after calling to tell them they blatantly overcharged me, they basically told me that they were basing the charge off when I came in last, regardless of the service I booked (and I had the confirmation email they sent me!!) and the technician supposedly told the person I was speaking to that I had been in my appointment for the appropriate amount of time to charge me the higher amount. This was a complete lie because I had credit card records of when I used my card to check out, and come to find out I was in the appointment for even less time than what I booked for my appointment, and absolutely nowhere close to the amount of time they said I was there. The front desk worker then essentially told me she couldn't do anything (with an attitude, like I was the one with the problem....) and that was that. Not to mention, I was even told directly by the technician another time that the difference between the "levels" of the appointments were the time allotted to each appointment, not the time in between coming in....So I had been lied to and scammed out of money. It went from a 65-70$ appointment to over 100 dollars. I thought they would apologize and refund my money. Ha! Not even close. I followed up with an email to MirrorMirror attaching to it my credit record with time stamps showing that I couldn't have possibly been in the appointment for how long they said I was because I was out and paying well before then AND the initial confirmation email from them of my appointment that stated what I was supposed to be having done and the time of the appointment. I got no response. So not only did they price gouge, but they lost a customer. I'll let anyone who asks know about this experience and I'm not the only one. And It wasn't just a few bucks they overcharged me for either, It was a 30-40 dollar difference between what I was expecting and should have paid, to what they ended up overcharging me for, not once but twice. I guess that was my mistake letting them do it twice to me but come on.... Who expects they are going to be taken advantage of like that.This is 100% going to result in a complaint to the better business bureau because something needs to be done. I'm obviously not the only one they've done this to given the other negative reviews. It's incredibly disrespectful and 100% a scam. I also didn't realize it until I reflected on my experiences there but their whole "niceness" and "warmth" is sooo painfully fake. It reminds me of the movie Mean Girls when Regina George tells this girl how much she liked her skirt, and as soon as the girl walked away. Needed a last minute lash extension appointment for a wedding. The technician was nice, but the results where not worth the exorbitant price. Her hands shook the entire time, which I feel affected the quality of the extension application. I asked for longer lashes in the middle of the eye, since that's what my lash tech had done in the past. She confirms she can do this. After 2 1/2 hours, I walk out with chunky, relatively short, cheap feeling and looking lashes. The adhesive she used burned my eyes the whole way home. I've been shopping at Mirror Mirror since I moved to Burlington years and years ago, yet had NO clue they did manicures. I called immediately and got an appointment for that afternoon with Kathy. Kathy is AMAZING! She is so professional, her space is clean and organized and she is SO fun to talk to while getting your nails done. She was so knowledgeable and sympathized with me as I told her my years of horror stories at other nail salons around town. The nail polish is high quality, and Kathy did an incredible job. This is one of my least favorite parts of being in Vermont. Mirror Mirror has the only good selection of skin care and make up but their makeovers are expensive and I've hated every one they've ever given me! Mac used to do a great job but they're closed now. I used to get a makeover every few months and then buy a bunch of product but I've had to stop doing that. The sales staff seems disgusted when I want Kiehls products and tells me I'm wrong no matter what I request. Is to so horrible to want face cream with sunscreen in it? I give them an-100 !! I went to get a lash fill on a Saturday. The place was packed. I waited for good 30 min for the fill granted i had come in 10 min early. The tech took 20 min maybe 25 to fill the lashes that was suppose to be a 50 min appointment as they state on their website that you pay 60 dollars for. She was very nice friendly and talkative but the quality of work sucked. At first they looked ok, when I looked in the mirror. I met up with friends after and everyone noticed how awful my lashes looked. I had patches missing that should have been filled my eyes looked diseased. This place was highly recommended by 2 people and after I sent them pics they were upset they recommended it. I don't mind paying for a good service and that is not what I got! When you book clients DONT BOOK WHEN YOU ARE BUSY and provide low quality work. I called the very next day to let them know, they apologized and said the owner was going to get back to me. I never got a phone call. I take good care of my lashes and I just had them put on the week before where the lash tech was happy to inform me that I did have healthy lashes, so they can't blame it on that. If I could rate this place a 0, I would. I have been a loyal customer for years and am super upset at the increasingly terrible customer. The staff works off commission, regardless of if they tell you they don't, it's obvious they do. They will try to sell you on the most expensive item, even if they don't have it in stock. For example, TWO of my friends have gone in separately and been shade matched BY THE SAME GUY. Red hair. He gives them the perfect shade and carries their items up to the front for them so they cannot look at the shade. Trusting it's the right shade that was tried on them, they purchase it, only to go home and find out it's a totally different shade. Both times they went back and complained. They've been hit with "well we don't have that shade in stock and won't be getting it back" and will not allow them to return it. This is beyond unethical and essentially is a scam. Instead of allowing my friend to return , they found another item for her that costs an additional $17. Beyond that the staff is exceptionally rude. They won't give you the time of day if you aren't buying $1000 worth of stuff right there and then. Frankly, it's bad business practice since most of us purchasing smaller items or services are locals who are repeat customers. They're entirely ageist and won't pay attention to younger customers, and or customers who aren't dressed to the 9s. I went in waiting for a service one time in sweats and the lady was so rude to me after I had been checked in by another staff. She asked me if I was "just looking or what." When I told her I had a service her tone totally changed. While I'm no longer close to being a UVM student, I do know UVM is a very privileged school with out of state costing nearly 70,000. The kids they bring in are able to afford these products sold, yet they're ignored as I've seen first hand. I've personally been disappointed one too many times with services, I had my eyebrows waxed there and they turned out awful. I also had a spray tan and not only did it wash off and not stay, but the girl was spraying my hooha and literally gave me a UTI. I am in love with this place. The staff is always incredibly warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. They go above and beyond in customer service, they never make me feel rushed or pressured to purchase anything, and will continue to be my number one spot for all things beauty in Burlington. I recently called to place an order for the Easter Beauty Box, but unfortunately they had sold out (and I was about to find out why). They quickly and happily informed me they would customize a box for me, and after getting an idea of my favorite products and what I was looking for, I had a gorgeous customized box delivered to my doorstep that evening. They went above and beyond. For real, y'all. Just the most thoughtful, on point, generous box that I've ever gotten. Not only that, but they did this while also arranging an amazing donation to the local nurses that are currently dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. Lately I've been really disappointed with mirror mirror. The staff (other than the blonde that does spray tans) are extremely rude. My friends and I stopped going there because of it. Then this past weekend I went to the Mother of all Sales which mirror mirror was at and a girl working the event was incredibly rude. I asked a couple questions, she instantly got short with me and then turned to another girl and made a rude comment. Overall, I'd rather go to a different spa in town or shop online to avoid them. I just feel incredibly judged every time I go near one of the girls working there. It makes an uncomfortable environment to shop in or get any treatments from. I went to Mirror Mirror (BTV) in December. I purchased a service and a product and was overcharged by $40. I alerted the person as they were entering the charges and they disagreed with me. I let it go imagining I must have gotten it wrong and checked my receipt as I left. I discovered that I was right and went back into the store. After rechecking my purchases the person behind the counter agreed and offered me store credit. I told them that I would prefer that my money be returned and was told that they couldn't do that. I was told that they would call me later and the refund would be done from someone's home (what!?). This is the second time I've gone to Mirror Mirror and both times I've been over charged. Anyway - no one called me. I called a week later and no one called me back. A few days later I called again. Nothing. About three weeks later I called again and talked with a very nice woman who was super helpful. She did call me back and I finally received a refund. I won't be back. read more

I was recently shade matched by an employee, Will, who quickly found the perfect match for me and informed me of the shade. They got my shade out of the drawer that only employees only can access (normal, but I wasn't able to pick out my own shade which proved to be an issue here) and I was checked out. A few days later when I first applied the product, it was incredibly dark on me and I noticed on the box that it was not the shade that he told me I was at the store. I went to return the product only to find out they never had my shade in stock, and will not be getting it back in. Come to find out I know multiple people who have had the same experience with the SAME employee, where he gives you the wrong shade in order to sell a product when they are out of the correct shade. He banks on you not noticing and, since they don't offer refunds, they make off with your money even when you return to complain. It is abundantly clear they work off of commission and partnerships with other brands that they blatantly push, and they'd rather sell you the wrong color than lose a purchase. For this same reason, you can't trust their recommendations. When I returned, I paid almost double the amount for a replacement product and was told that the different shades are "confusing" when they end in N, C, W, etc., resulting in mix-ups. Due to the multiple occurrences, I'm certain this was not an accident. Regardless, learning the alphabet apparently isn't a prerequisite to work here. It's so upsetting to see a small, local business be so unethical in its business practices. I am a long-time customer of this place and will never return. I would rather order online than give them my money ever again, even though I shop locally every chance I get. Normally I find salons like this intimidating and unfriendly (I am not a big makeup person) but Alexis was a doll, and did such a great job, and she and the gentleman at the desk helped me find an eyelid product to help with redness..no ageism, no superior feeling, just very friendly and helpful. The only place to get great makeup products in northern VT. Their makeup artist, Beatrice, is the best anywhere. The other staff, like Julie, are also wonderful. The eyelash treatments (Brooke) are first class and so are the hydrating facials. Great spot for an indulgence, a gift or just to replenish your favorite products. It's an independently owned store, so there's an intimate feel. My only suggestion is that they upgrade their ordering procedures. You pay for it upfront, but you have to keep calling to see if your item has come in. I ordered two things. They told me the items would be in after 3 days. Three weeks later, nada. I asked for a refund but they told me "we don't do that." They don't give you anything more than a typical register receipt, so it would be impossible to prove I didn't receive the item when I paid!!! I stopped in a few weeks ago and as soon as I got there, Lydia greeted me. She was extremely friendly and I felt comfortable with her immediately. Sometimes walking into a place with expensive things can mean that you don't get great service. So I was impressed with her kindness. I have recently developed adult acne, which has also created slight depression and anxiety and it's something I'm not used to. My make up just hasn't looked great and working in customer service, my face is kind of important to my business. I was using Bare Minerals and it just wasn't working for me anymore. I explained everything to Lydia and she immediately started talking about Laura Mercier products. She demonstrated the make up and knew the exact coloring to use. She addressed every concern of mine without hesitation. She is so knowledgeable and every issue I had with bare minerals seemed to be true of the product. She agreed with the complaints I had with bare Minerals. So I finally felt like it wasn't my face, it was the product. After Lydia worked with me and because she did a phenomenal job, I ended up purchasing everything she recommended. I am so pleased with my makeup. I've been using it for 2 weeks and it looks flawless! I was so pleased by her service and her extensive knowledge in cosmetics, that I just had to have everything. I spent a lot of money and I don't regret it one bit. I want to thank Lydia for making me feel like myself again! I will be back to see her for all of my cosmetic needs. This place is incredible. When I first started to realize that there was such a thing as high end makeup I was dismayed that there was really only one place in burlington (that I knew of) to get high end makeup, the Mac store. Or Macy's too I guess. The problem with those two places is that either the people don't know what they are doing because they are just sales associates plunked down in the makeup section or they wear clownish makeup and never match foundation properly. When I found out about Mirror Mirror it was amazing. Now we have a Sephora inside JC Pennwy but it still doesn't compare. The women at Mirror Mirror really know what they are doing. They are the perfect amount of friendly and they are never too pushy. They can easily find the perfect shade for you or suggest a great cleanser. They stock brands that you don't find at the other stores locally like Trish McEvoy and Lipstick Queen. It is definitely my favorite place to shop in Burlington. I haven't experienced their other services and I probably should go in for one but I'm sure they are also amazing. Mirror Mirror is not the type of place that would do anything badly. They have a great selection of makeup and beauty products--high-end brands, newer brands, local brands, etc...they also have a great selection of jewelry and other really cute items. I am not sure if it changed owners, but Mirror Mirror used to be better....Now I feel very pressured to buy things I don't really want; the salespeople seem almost desperate. Same with those providing services. There is also a very fake vibe. I also was not happy with my services--shocked, actually, at how bad it was for the price, and I am not super picky. Going to go back to getting my brows done for $20 in the ONE--def superior job. I read the reviews about upselling, which I had not experienced there before--but this time, I definitely did. Can't really trust what they are telling me anymore. I feel like they just go for the most expensive product and recommend it. Then they act like price "shouldn't matter" and "treat yourself", etc...which is pretty unrealistic for most people. I don't appreciate the upselling or the fakeness of it all. Used to be better, more down-to-earth. The sort of veiled snootiness doesn't really cut it in Vermont. read more

I have very little knowledge of make-up products. A few months ago, I went in and a very nice saleswoman was able to help me pick out a few basics within my price range, without being pushy in the least. Every time I have been in there since (it's such a fun store!), I have been met with the same level of care. I now get my eyelash extensions filled there every few weeks, and love talking to the staff when I go in! read more

Just got a great spray tan here. The staff are very friendly and my tan came out even and natural looking. Definitely recommend!
