I came here for a brow and lip wax. The service was quick and the woman who did my brows was fairly friendly. I left the salon happy about my brows. However, about ten minutes after I left the salon my brows continued stinging. I looked Into a mirror and saw that my eyebrows were completely burned. You can see the injuries in the photos, but my skin was burned from the wax. I called to ask for a refund, but I was asked to come all the way back to the salon so they could examine the eyebrows for themselves. They were very defensive when I mentioned my burns, and they did not offer me an apology. As I couldn't come back to the salon afterwards, I did not get a refund either. Came here because there was a great deal on Groupon for 2 waxing appointments. Booking the appointment was very efficient via yelp, but the actual appointments were not what I had hoped for. For both appointments, I noticed that the person waxing was not very sanitary on many regards. I didn't see them wash her hands nor did she wear gloves throughout the entire waxing appointment. Most importantly, she also double-dipped the popsicle stick back into the wax after having smeared the wax on my body. Now, had it been my arms or legs, I would not have been as concerned, but we were doing my bikini area both times. The second time I came back for my appointment, I politely requested that she refrain from double-dipping, especially given the area that she was waxing. She gave me a some spiel about how the wax she was using had antimicrobial properties and even tried to show me that the box the wax came in claimed the same thing (there was no such wording found on the box). I had to repeat my request more firmly, and to her credit, I did not see her double-dip afterwards. Checking out was also a disaster. I had already confirmed while booking on yelp that I had a groupon for two appointments (and yes, I made sure to have it in writing both times during the booking). However, when checking out, she claimed she did not have any such records and aggressively asked me to pull it up on my groupon again (I couldn't because I had already claimed it for the first appointment). I also reminded her that when I was checking out the first time, she had also been the one helping me and had left a note in my account about the groupon deal covering two appointments. Now today, she told me she could no longer locate that note. Luckily, we were able to pull up my information and so I was able to successfully leave without having to pay anything additional. Overall, I am disappointed by the lack of sanitary standards at this waxing place. I gave them a second chance in case the first person I had encountered was amiss, but my second experience was with the same person and had the exact same issues; even worse I encountered poor customer service and rude behavior along with some scientifically inaccurate facts about microbial growth (source: I am currently in medical school). I would not come back to this establishment again for waxing appointments and I would strongly encourage others to not purchase the groupon deal. read more

My hairdresser was Katie Gadapee (ask for her, she is lovely) and she gave me an absolutely amazing haircut that frames my face perfectly. Bad experience. The appt was almost a half hour late. I said I didn't need a shampoo as I had just washed my hair right before the appt, and just needed a trim. They shampooed my hair anyways with no towel or cape. The hair cut was extremely rough and rushed. All of this could be shrugged off as bad circumstances, except I said my hair parted on the right, and the stylist told me that didn't matter, and parted my hair in the middle to cut it. Now when my hair parts naturally on the right, my hair is noticeably uneven. I won't be going back again. read more

I did the full keratin treatment(not the express) in late August because I was told it would last three to six months. I usually do the Brazilian blowout. I am back at my old salon doing my Brazilian in two months. I don't know if it was the way it was done or the treatment but a big disappointment. I recently moved to town and found out right after that I got booked for my dream show.. I called up Shear ENVY and they were able to get me right in. Katie worked wonders on my hair (I have really long hair and I have a bad habit of getting maybe 1-2 trims yearly, at most). I wanted some face framing layers and highlights to bring some life back into my hair and she sure as hell delivered. The salon is in a great location, located right near Church St, is really responsive, and very reasonably priced in my opinion. Last year I had to have radiation on my scalp and it rendered me partially bald. I waited a year for enough hair to grow back in to get a real haircut, but I needed one where the new cancer hair would somehow MELD with the old hair. I went to another Burlington salon twice: once for a keratin and color (cancer regrowth tends to be curly and frizzy) and once for a cut. The color took but the keratin was a complete fail, as was the cut. The stylist blamed the failure on the cancer: said the hair was not "taking the keratin." I fired her and went to Casie to see if she could fix the mistakes. OMG, did she ever. With what little hair I had, she gave me a perfect cut, a keratin treatment that worked (obviously) and she even added some highlights. I am so so pleased with my cute bob and the color is rock-star amazing. I will never again cheat on her (that's what you get when you look for lower prices. Stupid me). She's the best. I love this salon! Casie is the one who has cut my hair for the past year and she always does a wonderful job. She talks me through my ideas and makes recommendations based on my face shape and hair type (which is invaluable to me since I know very little about hair!) She's fun to talk to and she doesn't try to nickel and dime you for your haircut. This salon is absolutely wonderful. I had a great experience over the phone making an appointment, and when I arrived the salon was bright and clean. The waiting area is spacious and somewhat removed from the salon (in a separate room) making a cozy and comfortable space to wait for your appointment. It was clear from the very beginning that client comfort and hospitality was the main focus. I tend to skip around from salon to salon very rarely finding a stylist who makes me completely happy with the finished outcome. That was not the case today, I started off with a brow wax, which usually makes me very anxious. Casie (the stylist) walked me through everything and made me feel very comfortable and the finished product was probably the best brow wax I have ever received. The haircut was a great experience, she asked me what I was looking to achieve and she showed me how she would blend my hair and make the layers work. I have very wavy, thick hair with lots of volume. I usually set my standards very low, since a lot of stylists can't handle my hair type or complain about how thick it is. This was not the case with Casie, she knew exactly what she was doing and clearly has a lot of experience. I left with my hair exactly how I imagined and wanted it to look. I can count on one hand the number of times I have left a salon satisfied, and this is absolutely one of those times. The price was a little more than I usually pay for a haircut, however I certainly got what I paid for and it was very much worth it. I will absolutely be back, and I think that my days of salon hoping are over based on my experience today. read more
