I recently hired the company to clean a house that is going to be on sale soon. The house is pretty much cleared out, newly painted, and staged with a few pieces of furniture with almost no decorations inside. The purpose of the cleaning was specifically addressed when the owner came for an estimate, which was a 'deep cleaning'. At least, I expected to see some shine and sparkle on sinks and faucets. I was told that two cleaning crew came late (it was scheduled at 8 am) and one person left at 1 pm. I found that one remaining lady was working alone (without much of proper materials) until 6 pm, and the house wasn't getting close to where it was supposed to be. I called the owner and explained what was going on. By that time, there was still dust on most of the furniture, ceiling fans were not touched, water marks weren't taken care of, windows weren't cleaned, and stains in the kitchen were not properly removed (and yes, there were more). I took some photos and sent to the owner, and she sent two ladies with cleaning matetials after an hour or so. Now the drama began. They were so loud talking to each other and talking to the owner (as if they were fighting) while they were in the house. They seemed quite incompetent on what they were supposed to be doing. Time passed. I finally had to point out some of the places that need attention so I could have the house back, as there were other things to take care of before the photo session happens in two days. More time passed, and it's 9 pm. The cleaning is not complete. They left after 10 pm with the payment. Next morning, I could see things that should have been done the day before. The morning light even highlighted the dusty spots and stains everywhere and I got the impression that they did not touch most of the furniture with attention. I took photos, sent to the owner, and said that the house does not seem to be cleaned by 'professionals'. The owner said that she does not believe if the photos were legit and made wrongful accusations against me. I told her that I have absolutely no reason to lie to her. When I told her that the work/business should be done with trust between company and client, she texted, "lady, I don't need your opinion." When I asked her about the incomplete job, her response was "what do you want?" Her voice and text messages were rude and there was no sign of apology. I told her that her sincere apology should come first after such a bad, unprofessional service, as I wasn't looking for a discount, refund, or having them over in the house again. If you are wondering about the size of the house, it is just over 2,000 sq ft with fully finished (empty, carpeted) basement with a half bath and small window. Once again, the house is staged for sale with minimum furniture. After dealing with such unprofessional and rude owner, paying $380.00, and being wrongfully accused of sending her "forged pictures", I still have not received any apology from her. At this point, I do not need it. This is the reason I wrote this review to warn people who are looking for home cleaning service in northern VA. Read less (Update) Laundry room was flooded after the cleaning crew left! The house cleaning was horrible enough and I found the basement flooded after my first use of washer since the ladies left. The lady who cleaned the washer did not put the hoses back after cleaning it. Why bother it in the first place? I had to vacuum at least 25 gallons of water!!! What a horrible experience and such a bad company!!!!

Post-Renovation Cleaning & Move-Out Cleaning…read more Many cleaners will post a laundry list of services they offer, including post-renovation cleaning, but this company REALLY does specialize in it and knows how to do it well. Spoke with Xiomara, who was engaged, responsive, and professional, when I called to inquire about service and obtain a quote. When I called subsequently to schedule she worked hard to accommodate my timing. Had a pre-estimate walk through with Caroline. She was knowledgeable and therefore thorough, asking important questions about windows, appliances, and our unfinished basement. Because she knew her business, the estimate was accurate both in terms of time and cost. The cleaning crew showed up in the agreed time frame and did an excellent job, vacuuming, then wiping down every surface, including light fixtures and high ledges. If you've ever had large amounts of drywall sanding done, you know how challenging it can be to get your house clean, but the crew removed every evidence of the work. I also had the company do my move-out cleaning when we left our rental once the renovation was complete. Different crew, same positive experience. Smart Choice may cost a little more, but the quality and service are well worth it.

When the cleaning team arrived two days later, I reiterated these same requests to ensure they were addressed. However, after the cleaners left, it was clear that many of the specified areas had not been cleaned, including the ones in the attached photos (taken post-service). Additionally, the dust inside the kitchen cabinets, which I also had highlighted, remained untouched. I reached out via email but received no response, prompting me to follow up with a phone call. While they offered to re-clean the space, I was disappointed with the overall service and instead requested a partial refund. They refunded $50 of the $240 I paid... Unfortunately, my experience with Smart Choice Cleaning fell far below expectations. Not only was the cleaning service inadequate, but their customer service response was also unsatisfactory. I would not use their services again. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Update: They called me in April and asked me to change my review and they would issue an additional $50 refund due to my dissatisfaction with their service. I did so and they did. However, I just checked my bank account history in May and they charged me $50 WITHOUT even telling me. This is absurd. Please do NOT use this company.
