Lovely experience adopting. We saw Lula on Petfinder and called Miracle Dog Rescue to inquire. They asked questions of us and our home and we learned more about Lula. Reyna offered that we could meet the dog in LA (she was being fostered in Mexico) and once we met her if we wanted to take her home we could and if not they would keep her here in LA and find her a home. So it was low pressure and we had an opportunity to meet her before making a final decision. The description of Lula was spot on in terms of her personality, her size and the images were great so we could fully see what she looked like. They provided paperwork for her medical history and shots, as well as a small bag of the food she had been eating so we could help transition her to a new food slowly. Excellent experience. This is long overdue! We adopted a Schnauzer from this place 8 months ago from Reyna. Though she may be a standup individual, the location where she gets the dogs from are shady at best. Our dog ended up having Kennel Cough, had other blood & health issues that we had corrected. In fact, they lied about her being spayed. She went into heat and was bleeding drops of blood everywhere and that is how we found out. She also had a hernia as well. We had to have an exploratory surgery done with our vet. They fixed her hernia and spayed her because she had both of her ovaries. We didn't trust that the shots were done in Mexico after all that has happened. Therefore, we had all her shots given as well. Furthermore, instead of costing $500 that we originally paid to adopt our Schnauzer, it costed us $2,800 after all said and done. We are thankful that we've had our original vet for over 30 years and his prices are reasonable or it would have costed a lot more. This happened over the first 4 months of receiving her. Luckily, we caught all the issues early, especially the cough and the blood issue and had it all corrected or she may not be with us today. She is now very healthy today with no thanks to Miracle Dog Adoption. The only thing that was truthful is Reyna did in fact insert the microchip in our Schnauzer. I recommend if she is going to continue her business, to cut her ties with the people she is dealing with in Mexico because they are very dishonest. We adopted our dog, Patito, through Reyna just this past weekend. All of our experiences with Reyna have been positive, kind and thoughtful. It is clear she is a good person to people and dogs alike and takes her duty of matching dogs and homes with the highest responsibility. Her communication is excellent, in terms of promptness and clarity. Our dog was originally called Lorenzo and when I first reached out to Reyna about meeting him, she let me know there was already someone scheduled to meet him and if it fell through she would get in touch. Lucky for us, she let us know the previous window closed and we were next. I couldn't meet that same day but she promised that I could meet Lorenzo before she arranged any new meetings. She is extremely fair about giving adopters a window to properly meet and adopt the dogs in her care. Lorenzo was every bit the dog that was described to us and we are loving getting to know him more as he adjusts and realizes he is in his forever home. He was clearly well cared for. Reyna provided us all the paperwork (including passport!) and really made the process frictionless and easy. She gave my 3 children the opportunity to play in her yard with the dog when we first met him and they immediately fell in love. We adopted our dog from here and recently learned that she was not spayed or microchipped even though we had been provided with paperwork that "proved" she had. The papers are fraudulent. Our vet confirmed that our dog is still intact and they cannot find a microchip anywhere. Now we have to arrange and pay for those procedure ourselves, plus deal with all the paperwork to correct the fraudulent ones. Beware! Read the one-star reviews here. Believe them. I adopted Brystle aka Pinky at the MDR in 2012. I lost her last week from a brain tumor that caused her to seize uncontrollably. Oh my goodness!! I cannot say enough about this amazing Rescue and the woman who runs it (Reyna Cruz)! I have been looking to adopt a young, small dog and I have gone to every Animal Shelter within a 25 mile radius of my house looking for a small (15 lb), female, short hair, young (1 yr) dogs When I found one that I though might be good, every shelter made the adoption process such a nightmare of red tape to get approved to adopt; so time consuming and difficult AND expensive.
