    Cooper with our family
    Csilla K.

All joy 4 Paws rescues many huskies across California and tries to place them in loving homes. They save literally hundreds per year. They saved Cooper from being killed and while he had many issues they did not give up on him. They even had him trained and had him in a sanctuary for two years before we took him to be with our cousin! Cooper went through a lot and Joyce does her best to give every dog a chance!

    Bright beautiful blue eye'd babe!

I initially reached out to help with fostering, and Joyce was incredibly insightful and understanding. While we were originally interested in a female, after speaking with Joyce, we realized that a male would be a better fit for our home--especially with our female alpha leading the pack. Looking back, it feels like fate brought us together with the pooch who was then called Midnight, now Leo. He isn't a foster failure--he's a foster win. After months of fostering, we knew he was meant to stay, and now our home feels complete with his big, lovable spirit. We live in Portland, OR, and the transport process was seamless. Leo is now a true PNW husky, thriving and loving life! I still send Joyce plenty of goofy pictures of him because she is nothing short of amazing. She is dedicated, attentive, and incredibly communicative, pouring her heart and soul into saving animals who need a second chance. We are furever grateful :)

We found our furever pup with AllJoy! We had been looking to add a rescue to our pack of bigger male snow dogs. Joyce helped identify a best fit for our family, and organized a meet and greet closer to us than where he was boarding. Communication and listening to our concerns about a good fit with our current boys was taken seriously and replied to promptly. AllJoy pulled our little guy from a 24hr kill list - thank goodness! He is the sweetest boy and at two months into our pack he's a perfect fit! Thank you AllJoy we recommend you all the time for snowdog people!!!

Alljoy 4 Paws has a clear mission, and they achieve just that - saving so many huskies from imminent euthanasia in Southern CA pounds. This was our first experience with them. We agreed to foster a dog who had been in boarding for quite some time after being pulled from the pound. They transported him to Seattle and kept in good contact during transport. Following some initial bumps in the road as he adjusted, he ended up being a wonderful dog and we adopted him! We also found the adoption fee to be very reasonable. I would recommend working with this agency, as they do so much good and save so many lives. : )

This rescue is great! I have adopted four huskies at different times from Joyce and she always went out of her way to find the right fit for me and my family. I have cats, a little one, and teenagers one of them being autistic. When I've had struggles with them adapting and introduction, her and her team were right there to guide me. They save dogs with serious medical needs and are foster based so that these dogs personalities can be found out in placing them in the right homes. All you need is love, attention and commitment. Thank you Alljoy4paws for helping me and my family with our fur babies!

Little Augustus is living it up in Washington thanks to Joyce at alljoy4paws

Joyce pulled my new fur baby out when he was red listed and saved his life. She was so kind and helpful in arranging his transport from California to Washington state. I am eternally grateful to her.

So I take no pleasure writing this review. I have seen a steady decline in the quality of their management. Perhaps as a result of their rapid expansion. For several summers the Claremont shelter operated without air conditioning I was in there, I know what it felt like. It bordered on animal cruelty. Last year the volunteers put up a bit of a revolt. Lisa Price, the head of the organization finally called the landlord and got it resolved. Every volunteer I worked with left! In my time as a volunteer I've never seen Lisa Price at the Claremont location. They have a high turnover of staff presumably due to very low pay. They have been reducing shelter hours. However, this didn't stop them from a goal of $20,000 for a duck pond! One has to wonder where the board of directors is? I recently fostered a 12 year old beagle rescued from a medical lab (good for them). The branch manager, Kammi said ( in writing) that he would be with me till he was adopted. Days later they insisted I bring him to the shelter. Matt told me it was a "little miscommunication " and they wouldn't honor it. Yesterday I sent a text to Lisa Price and Matt asking if I could pick Gravity up on their closed days to give him a break from the shelter. No response from either. Heartbreaking what they're doing to this dog! Maybe you saw another of their beagles being dragged down the streets of Costa Mesa by a volunteer on your local news. If you go to charitynavigator.org (priceless puppy rescue corp) you will see they are delinquent on Calif. state registrations. The state has disabled donations to them. I could go on but these are obvious signs of mismanagement. Why won't the board of directors do their job? A new shelter just opened in Ontario (Animal Resource Center of the Inland Empire). Lots of dogs and cats available for very reasonable adoption fees. At first glance they look worthy of support. Ph. (909) 321-1096. On the internet go to arcinlandempire.org

Or maybe I just needed the feeling of a living thing nearby again--the kind that looks at you like you exist in a way the rest of the world sometimes forgets to. I first met Tito, who was perfectly good and perfectly himself, but the chemistry just wasn't there. So I told Melissa, one of the shelter staff, something a little strange. I said, "Just pick a dog for me. Anyone. Don't tell me anything about him. Just bring him out." And she did. The dog she brought me was beautiful and bright-eyed and eager in the way that makes you think a dog already knows something about you before you've said a word. I warmed to him immediately. We spent a little time together outside the kennel, and it felt--quietly--like a small pocket of calm inside a very loud world. Then I asked his name. Elliott. Spelled the same way as my daughter's name: E-L-L-I-O-T-T. My daughter Elliott is named after my mother, whose last name is Elliott. Three Elliotts, suddenly converging in the middle of a shelter yard on an ordinary afternoon. The kind of coincidence that makes you pause for a second and feel the strange poetry that sometimes shows up in everyday life. But the part that stayed with me the most wasn't just the dog. It was Melissa. We talked--really talked--for a moment. The kind of conversation that isn't long but still somehow manages to feel human and grounding. She shared a little of her life, and I shared a little of mine. And there was something about her presence that made the entire experience feel gentler, more thoughtful, more real. The shelter requires that every member of the household meet a dog before adoption, so I went home excited to show my daughter Elliott the pictures. She studied them carefully and then said, very plainly, "No Mommy. That dog is too big for us." And in that simple honesty there was clarity. I realized that what I went looking for that day--a companion to fill a quiet space in my life--might not be the right step just yet. But something else happened instead. That afternoon left an imprint on me. Meeting Elliott the dog, and more importantly meeting Melissa, reminded me how much compassion and patience exist in the people who choose to work in places like that every day. So instead of adopting right now, I've decided to volunteer at the shelter and spend time with the dogs there--especially Elliott, if he'll have me. Those dogs need love. And the people who care for them deserve recognition. Melissa, in particular, left a mark on my heart that I won't soon forget. In a world that often feels rushed and transactional, she offered something simple and rare: kindness, presence, and a moment of real human connection. And sometimes that's exactly what you needed all along.

So I came to this animal shelter on a whim and the building is so nice. I was helped immediately, everyone was friendly, and I went to go look around at the dogs. I found a dog I was interested in but was on a hold. I was told that once the dog is no longer on the hold, I could call and set up an appointment for a meet and greet. Well, my first time at this shelter was on Wednesday, the dog was no longer on the hold today (Saturday) so I made sure to call and make an appointment for a Meet and Greet. The lady told me she had times available same day and I was able to meet the dog a few hours after making the phone call. I came in, I was helped promptly. And I got to meet the dog. I asked the worker if I would be able to walk the dog. It was a little misty outside so she gave me a jacket to give the dog and the staff member was with me outside with the dog and she was so friendly. Once I was done, I let the staff member know I wanted to adopt and she let me sit with the dog a little longer while she got the paperwork ready for me. The fee was not bad at all because it included the adoption fee, vaccines, check up with vet, pet insurance for a month, neuter, and microchip! Once I completed all the paperwork, I was given all the forms in a nice little folder and a bunch of flyers and coupons. I was also given a goody bag and a variety of blankets to choose from. I wish I remembered the lady that helped me because I truly feel like she made this experience extra special. She set up his neuter appointment so I haven't gotten a chance to take him home yet, but I'll be able to after he's neutered. I am really happy with my experience at this animal shelter and I'll definitely be referring friends and family to come adopt here!

I noticed the tapeworms and soon as he made his first bowel movement at home. I took him into the vet first thing this morning. And even though we received a free 30 days of pet insurance, his treatment will not be covered because it is a pre-existing condition. There's no way the shelter staff didn't notice his tapeworms unless they really weren't paying any attention to his stool. So either they noticed and did nothing about it or weren't being thorough with his care. I wish this had gone differently.
