a life potentially ended by SEAACA's bureaucratic failure
    Morgan B.

When an animal is running loose and can potentially be killed by traffic, I'd expect you'd employ someone to pick up the phone so dispatch can be sent out. We spent an hour on the hold music today trying to save this poor muddy, matted westie in SF springs after LA county told us SEAACA is who handles our area. Never could get an answer. I've called in a lot of loose dogs and NEVER had this kind of issue.

Added animal to kill list a few hours before. People can't save this animal with just a few hours heads up
    Rhea Z.

I've been to this place a few times, and while they do a good job keeping it as clean as possible, there are a few concerns. On several occasions, the viewings have started late, which is frustrating, especially since many people are waiting right when it opens. Being more mindful of people's time would go a long way. Unfortunately, the few times I've visited, the staff has been too busy to help me, whether I had questions about the animals or wanted to get my pets vaccinated. It's disappointing given how many people work there, but there still seems to be a high kill rate. The limited animal viewing hours, just a couple of hours a day, also makes it unnecessarily difficult to adopt. It's surprising that there hasn't been an investigation into the practices here. Despite the challenges, the service itself could be much improved with better organization and attention to customer needs. A little more focus on providing timely help and value would really elevate the experience for both potential adopters and the animals in need. Also... they add dogs to the kill list the day of. Leaving nothing but a few hours for rescues or adopters to scramble in the middle of business hours and working hours to save these innocent animals..

Call instructions found on their own website

I called about a stray kitten in my yard after following the procedures listed on your website. I explained that I was worried about the kitten's safety around my dog, but I was told to "just leave it alone." No trap-neuter-return (TNR) resources or rescue referrals were offered. On top of that, the person I spoke with spoke down to me as if I were an idiot. I understand the shelter may be underfunded and short-staffed, but the way staff communicate with the public makes a difference. A dismissive or nasty attitude can truly affect someone's day, especially when they are calling with genuine concerns for animal safety and community wellbeing.

I really wish this organization would improve in dealing with the public. The customer service is lacking and aren't helpful at all.

really poor customer service. Auctioning off the dogs basically then they just euthanize them otherwise.

I was hoping the shelter could take them in, help them, or at least direct me to the appropriate resources so they could get care. Unfortunately, the person who answered the phone was extremely rude. She asked, in a hostile tone, "Are you asking about strays? Because we don't take strays," and it felt very harsh and unkind. It was disappointing because, as a representative of the shelter, her behavior reflects on the organization. I expected compassion from someone working at a place dedicated to helping animals, but her tone and attitude felt completely opposite of that. I understand that everyone can have a bad day, but the way she spoke to me was unprofessional and made the interaction very unpleasant. I hope you can address this so that people reaching out for help especially for vulnerable animals are treated with care and respect.

We filled out the application (which took about half an hour) and after a few days got a generic rejection email. Quite frankly I find it extremely rude to not be given ANY sort of reason in the rejection and not even get a chance to speak to a real person to make your case. After looking though some of these reviews it seems that it may have been a "difference of philosophy" due to us letting our cat out into our fenced in backyard entirely supervised. If that's the reason just please say it so people don't have to speculate, and incredibly rude. You didn't even ask to see the setup we have and are just assuming we are irresponsible. I am well aware of how cats can go missing for being outside and I have neighbors who let their cats free roam which I am strongly against. Maybe try talking to the potential adoptee before rejecting an application. Yet again maybe that isn't even the reason our application is rejected. Too bad they don't tell you anything... To whoever rejected our application, we will be adopting another cat. So whatever you think you're doing by rejecting our application is just making it harder for that specific cat to find a home. You will find that the horrible fate that you thought would befall the cat we wanted to adopt from you will not be happening to our new cat. Considering that there are so many displaced pets due to the fires by LA, it seems pretty wasteful to be quite so picky with adopters. I would consider donating to other organizations such as your local humane society over these guys, since they don't seem very keen on actually placing pets in homes.

Just more of a dog person. One morning I heard the tiniest meows coming from my drive way. I thought I was hearing things at first but then I realized... that's a kitten not a bird !! It took a broom & back & forth, but there was the tiniest black kitten under my husbands car !! We ended up naming him Lude. We fed Lude & he was a bit shy at first. It didn't take long for him to warm up to me. I made the effort of petting him daily so he wouldn't turn feral. I wasn't sure of the gender & I was worried about the possibility of him being a female & then there would be too many kittens in our backyard. I definitely don't want to contribute to the stray cat population here !! I did some research & came across this little gem not far at all from my house. With a couple emails, a date was set for Lude's surgery. The services offered included spay/neuter, rabies, de worming & flea treatment. The Little Lion Foundation also loans out the traps so no need to go out to buy one. The day of the surgery I was able to put Lude in the trap & didn't have to set up the trap to trick him in - so that was easy ! I dropped him off early in the morning & picked him up the same day around 4 pm or so. Lude was so calm & quiet the entire car ride home !! I left him in the cage over night which made me worry he would panic - but he didn't. The next day I was able to let him out & today he's back to his old self again clipped ear & all. BIG shout out to this amazing non-profit foundation !! Thank you for helping out Lude. We love the little lion foundation !
