Flourless Chocolate Cake

Date night out, and decided to come back to this place again. Got to sit in a different area this time, nice and open and beautiful fireplace. Some decorations were up for the holidays but not everything yet. For an appetizer my husband and I shared a 1/2 plate of Casadecce pasta which was delicious. Easily could be a main meal. For dinner, I had the roasted chicken breast and my husband had the Mirabele Duck Duo. Both great dishes but too much onion with the chicken. I highly recommend to ask for light onion, unless you're a fan. Could have had more potatoes too. Otherwise both dishes were scrumptious. We skipped dessert as nothing was appealing for us. Overall, was still a pretty nice meal and I'm sure we will be back again.

Warm Goat Cheese Salad

We were here for a cocktail party, pre-wedding day for my cousin. The venue is lovely, the bar is a bit dark which just think was supposed to make to more of an intimate ambiance but really just strains eyes while looking at menus. A small group of us had gathered around one of the high top tables and again, likely for intimate ambiance, but there was not as many chairs as there could have been here. And despite our waiter being really nice, I was a bit surprised they didn't offer to bring over more chairs when seeing my sister-in-law standing at the table. The menu offers two mocktails, both of which my sister-in-law chose and we all tried. The black berry jam was less a mocktail and more just straight juice. Which if that's your thing do order this one, but if you were expecting something more....virgin drink type, skip this one and order the other one. It's much better. We ate light here and opted to have a full dinner elsewhere, but my sister-in-law ordered the warm goat cheese on toast and my brother, mom and I opted on the fish and chips which the waiter told us was a favorite. The goat cheese on toast was not what I expected, this was a salad with a side, single piece of thick cut and toasted sourdough with a round chunk of warm goat cheese. I can't really express enough how giant a ball of goat cheese this way and how it looked. Now, visuals aside, my sister-in-law said it was good. The salad was tasty with the mustard vinaigrette which leaned more to the mustard side and was made better with the goat cheese mixed in. The fish and chips were as served with three pieces of fried fish over a bed of fries and Yukon chips, a wedge of lemon and a side of tartar sauce and ketchup. Considering the cost of this dish, this was a total pass with the only really good item being the fries. Even with tartar sauce and lemon the fish was just bland from batter to fish inside. The Yukon chips actually soak up the lemon and turn soggy so watch where you squeeze the wedge. The chips (fries) were seasoned just enough to be appealing and held up to lemon juice really well. Next time I think it may be better to just order the fries. All in all, lovely bar, nice staff, over priced for the quality.

Love this hidden gem in town. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is nice. The outdoor seatings are so beautiful and the service is very good and attentive.

Mirabelle Duck Duo*

Mirabelle is a very nice, historic location, and cozy spot for dinner, we went here a few weeks ago when it was time to try a new restaurant, and we had a relaxing and enjoyable evening. The dining room was very comfortable, and the decor was upscale and charming. Had a nice table next to the wall, and the server who was taking care of us was just 18 years old, but he had a good head on his shoulders and made great conversation. The food was also very good, I remember the soup was delicious, the main (the duck) was good, but could have been better, and the desert was a sweet ending. I do also remember that I had 2 drinks off the menu, the first one was fine, the second one was god awful, but the restaurant saved itself by making a new one and no charging on the bad drink. So be wary of the bartenders. They had the choice of a Pre Fixe menu which we went for, and it worked out well. If I could give a half star this would be a 3.5 but it leans 4 because of accommodating on things that needed correction. We had a good time here, and I do recommend for people looking for a nice dinner spot in Stony Brook.

Traditional Steak Tartare*

Mirabelle is a cozy upscale restaurant in Stony Brook. The food has some really stand out dishes and some average dishes. Of the starters, I really enjoyed the Foie Gras and steak tartare - the foie gras had a nice texture and the tartare was fresh and flavorful. We also tried the asparagus and mushroom salad and the burrata salad. Both were light and refreshing. Of the mains, the duck was okay. The glaze was good but the meat was not infused well with flavors. I tried the scallops which was hearty and well cooked but a bit too salty for my liking. The desserts were really ordinary or just weird. The affogato was completely melted ice cream in the coffee served in a glass with a very tiny amount... you had to drink it because the spoons would not reach. The keylime pie was very buttery in the crust and far too sweet. The sorbet was refreshing but nothing out of the ordinary. The profiteroles (like cream puffs) were actually enjoyable but messy to eat with the chocolate sauce. The ginger almond tart was very sweet, brittle, and gritty. Service was a bit slow and the restaurant was not crowded. Additional notes from friends who dined here: The drinks are strong and the oysters were very fresh and tasty.

My partner and I had a wonderful Valentine's Day evening at Mirabelle! Each course was absolutely delicious, the bacon wrapped filet mignon was BEYOND!!! The cooks obviously know what they're doing! Our waitress Alexis was a sweetheart too, making sure everything was good and we were happy :) Overall a romantic evening with amazing food, I couldn't have asked for more!

Thank you Tom for accommodating our group of 15 at Sunday morning's brunch! We were seated at the high tops in the tavern and it was perfect for our group. Peyton & Cristine "Red" were personable, professional & perfect. It seemed like we got our coffees and mimosas minutes after being seated; the cold brew iced made a big hit. Christine kept our glasses refilled all morning. Brunch was very special. That was the best eggs Benedict I have ever had, thank you Justin for giving me the secret to that hollandaise sauce. My husband's fish and chips were abundant, crispy and delicious. Our guests raved about their pancakes, omelettes, eggplant parm, mac & cheese, smoked salmon .... I wish you were closer you would be our Sunday morning brunch spot! Please consider relocating down to Florida like everybody else on Long Island.

Upon arriving back in NY yesterday, we were vexed with the options for dinner; wanting a wine bar…read morewith Old World characteristics, food being of relative importance. We read a recent review where someone proclaimed the owner to be nasty & unfriendly (sure, I am paraphrasing). Those types of reviews are generally emotionally charged and written by plebs I find. More on that toward the end. Pulling up to a rather unassuming east end Long Island small shopping plaza drenched in rain; opening the door, you are taken back to a semi rustic and dim interior. Perfectly elegant in its bucolic charm- with nice lounge music playing. It is a sit where one likes atmosphere. This is meant with the utmost of respect and candour. We were greeted kindly by the proprietoress (Jacqueline), and handed pleasantly robust binders with the wine list and food. Deciding to treat this in the more European café type, we had glasses and charcuterie. I, the Sagrantino, and her the Kerner. Jacqueline was vocally pleased with our interesting choices. The night drew on, more wine ensued, more food, multiple conversations, and I completed reading through each page and wine choice...finding much to be recognised and appreciated (Kirwan, Moric, Georg Breuer to name but a few) At the end of the night, I asked Jacqueline to pick an appropriate nightcap. She not only delivered, but gave us a wonderful story including the provenance and her experiences - ultimately, the word genius came up more than once. To wit, there was nothing here but an exceptional experience with a like-minded wine enthusiast. I felt welcomed and in the frith of old kin. Nasty, belligerent, dullard atmosphere- indeed not. I'm not a fan of prepaying but since this is a small intimate venue I get it. The pace was way too fast. It felt rushed and I could not savor the food. I won't be back, the experience did not meet my expectations. I will try their sister restaurant in huntington which is house of Yoshin on NY Ave. The chef almost was apologetic for the pace, he said the Huntington sister location was more traditional. Cool spot with a Manhattan vibe "behind" Main Street in Patchogue…read more The reason this is key is because, since they face out to the firehouse and residential areas, parking USUALLY isn't a problem. There's a small lot that's free and you can park on Jennings. (sorry residents). We went on NYE so had to park several blocks away. No biggie. The inside is dark and cool with a city-vibe. Ample bar space and 1-4 tops an some banquet seating that lets you look out over the street. We were greeted right away by what turned out to be our server and seated promptly by the windows (we had a reservation). Also greeted by a gentleman that we think might have been her dad. The young lady hustled all night and managed the crowd well. We never waited too long for her to check in on us and she was very helpful with selecting wine and clarifying menu items. That being said, THIS IS A SMALL PLATES JOINT. People expecting full-sized portions should adjust their expectations accordingly. We did, however, order the Trastavere seafood platter (medium) which came as a tower and seemed impressive. Two types of oysters (large and medium) were presented; briny and fresh and pretty damned tasty. There was also a ceviche and tuna tartare that was, unfortunately, a bit unremarkable, as was the shrimp cocktail (though the shrimps were pretty hefty). The American "black caviar" was a nice way to commemorate the meal. Nutty with a pop of salinity but maybe something you can skip. We meant to order the Carne e Formaggi but got the Gamberetto instead which was fine as it was pretty tasty nonetheless (made with shrimp but it almost tasted like smoked salmon). Virgola Manhattan was good but pretty standard. Follow-up drink of dirty Manhattan was blissfully salty and cold. But back to the menu: we are unsure if they have an actual kitchen back there which would also explain the small plates concept and oyster and chilled fish options. The bruschetta was tasty, as mentioned, but it seems like they cut and toasted the bread and topped it with the crudo. The other bruschetta options featured ingredients from other menu items that could be re-purposed for multiple dishes. Smart but expect this. We plan on returning and trying the charcuterie board (mix and match cheeses and meats) and some cocktails. Overall, a nice night out and a nice option for dining and drinking around Patchogue. Cheers!

Fountains, valet (though today he was more of a parking attendant directing you to a general area). Upon entry, large, central bar with an even larger seating area beyond. Outside seating over-looking a smallish vineyard. It was a sunny day so it seemed comfortable. They save these seats for people who make reservation so we sat at the tables inside. Largish space. High ceilings with faux beams and faux wood. Several flat panel TVs and gas fireplaces. More urban chic than rustic winery. Kinda like a theme winery when compared to spots out East. Kelsey was our server and was excellent. Told us about specials, described the wines aptly and advised that all plates were made to share and that 2 dishes would be a good jumping-off point. Also very attentive without being overbearing. Gold Star! Started with a red flight and chose the Ultimo which had a better nose and finish than the other two. Ordered the Polpette (3 huge meatballs and cheese, cheese and MORE cheese!) and the Sweet and Spicy Grilled shrimp. Meatballs were large, savory and satisfying but otherwise unremarkable. That's not a knock. I would order them again. It's just that meatballs, like pizza and Chinese for me, have to be out-of-this-world great or extremely shitty for me to make note. So they were perfectly fine and we enjoyed them. The shrimp was delicious. Plump and perfectly cooked. Barely any spiciness noted and slightly more sticky sweetness. But that allowed the natural flavor of the shrimp to come through, which was greatly appreciated. Served with a salad which, normally, is a 4-lettered word for me, but it was fresh, bright and tasty. Afterwards we took a quick walk around the "grounds" which was basically a large lawn with a view of some bines. Well kept, tidy. Overall, had a great experience. If you're looking for a winery experience (comparing to places out east) maybe subtract 1/2 star. If you're looking for a restaurant with good food and good wine, add 1/2 star. However, if you live in the area and this place is less than 20 min from you, add a full star. You won't be disappointed.

They don't take reservations. After about 10 minutes my friend and I plus 3 teens (my kids and a friend) were starving and Schnitzels was loud and crowded. We headed a few doors down to Sweet Mama's. Seated immediately. My friend and I shared the steak with penne dinner special and a Cobb salad with grilled chicken. My daughter ordered penne with butter off the kids menu. My son got a turkey burger and his friend got a grilled chicken sandwich on a hero instead of a wrap. Now the good -- portions were huge! My son could barely fit his burger in his mouth and it also had a half avocado on it. They didn't skimp. Steak with penne was delicious and so was the Cobb salad. We all shared off each other's plates because everything looked so amazing. Now the bad. My daughter's pasta was elbows, not penne as indicated on the menu. Not a catastrophe but she was looking forward to penne. Then - my son's friend put some ketchup on his plate for his fries. It was ,.. not red but brown. The bottle had an 8/25 expiration. We are in April 2026. We told the server and she said it's because it's the "simply ketchup" with no artificial dyes. She offered him ketchup packets "with fake dyes" but by that point he lost his appetite for fries. We grabbed ketchup from another table, same brand, Heinz Simply. You can see the difference in color. We showed the server and she acted annoyed. I told her we didn't want anyone getting sick on that ketchup and pointed out the expiration date. She rolled her eyes and said "oh I'll just throw it away." She kind of had an attitude and didn't even apologize. So that's why 4 stars. We'd go back but request not to have that server. The food is fantastic but watch your ketchup! If someone put it on a burger it would have been ruined.
