Food wasn't bad but the wait was almost an hour for just carry out and the service was less than pleasant.

A shining star in the otherwise desolate culinary landscape outside of Kansas City, Mint offers a level of quality cuisine not typically seen before broaching the boundaries of the big city. Fresh fish, interesting presentation and generous serving sizes combine to create an experience that might not necessarily be memorable in another setting, but certainly puts it in a higher echelon of desirability than the establishments that surround it. In terms of price versus quality, the cost is probably on the high side, but I also understand that location plays a role in that, as well. The ambiance and decor are similarly unexceptional, but adequate, creating a solid experience overall that definitely warrants checking out at least once. read more

Mint Sushi is great! We ordered a large to go order online for our first visit and didn't know what to expect in regards to accuracy, flavor or customer service. We were blown away - they were definitely on top of their game. When we arrived, they walked through each item with us and even checked our combo fried rice to be sure it had all the tasty ingredients it was supposed to have. They loaded us up with soy sauce, chop sticks, ginger and wasabi for our sushi, and even tossed in some fluffy donut holes. We chowed down at home and raved about how great everything tasted and making yummy sounds. I've been a fan of Siki in Lee's Summit, liking them a lot better than Mr. Sushi, and Mint Sushi is instantly our new favorite. Can't wait to order an embarrassing amount of sushi again from Mint and bring it home! read more

Pretty delicious and the presentation is beautiful! It is a smaller establishment so be ready to cozy up to fellow sushi lovers. You should not be in a hurry when visiting because there are usually only 2 servers, but it is well worth it! Not to mention the complimentary donuts!!! The staff is very friendly and I definitely recommend this place! read more

Mint Sushi - Japanese Near Me - Lee's Summit, Missouri

Mint Sushi is absolutely amazing. They really have it all. Don't let the size fool you, they have GREAT sushi, GREAT service, GREAT prices, and AMAZING presentation of their food. We're originally from San Diego and with how many sushi places there are there, we were scared we wouldn't find a good place in the Midwest. SO glad we stopped at this place to try it out. We have a 7 mo old and they're beyond amazing to him and treat him like family. Mint sushi treats all of their customers with respect and seem to be quite close with the community around them. We have such a great vibe whenever we dine in there. ALL the sushi rolls are amazing, we've tried something new each time and have yet to be disappointed. Please keep this restaurant in mind when you're looking for sushi read more

I love Mint. It is my current sushi favorite. I go as often as I can when I am craving sushi. I love their sushi so much in fact that I have not tried any of their other food options. The atmosphere and their food is so fun! The service is also great. Highly recommend! read more

This is the only place in Lees Summit my husband and I have found that we absolutely adore! Great food, plenty of variety for my husband (who won't eat Raw fish), my son (who prefers the Hibachi meals) and me who loves to experiment with new rolls! Always hits the spot! read more

I moved to Missouri from California a year and a half ago, and, while I haven't tried a ton of sushi places here in the midwest, this is by far the BEST I've tasted and, for the price, I'd consider it the best in its class. My fiance and I discovered it last week and were blown away by the combination of taste and quality of freshness of the sushi rolls and the attention to detail in stylizing the dishes. The chef obviously cares about what he/she creates. The ambiance (inside) is super hip too (you wouldn't expect it from the strip mall exterior.) Modern decor inside with fun colors. Free wifi too, which I love. I got the Dynamite Roll and some salmon sushi. Hmm. Sorry that i don't recall what my fiance ordered. It was one of the popular sushi rolls with warm crab on top. Ultimately, we were both supremely satisfied. Oh, and I'm gluten-free and wheat-free but since we dropped in without prior planning, didn't bring any amino acids or soy sauce substitute. We asked for gluten-free soy sauce and were pleasantly surprised that they had it!!! We will certainly be back, and will bring friends! read more

I have never had a bad experience here and I am here at least once a month. The rolls are solid, there's a lot of variety, and the serving staff are so genuinely kind. They are allergen-friendly here too and go above and beyond to make sure you're not missing out. I have had sushi all over the states and even though Mint may not be out of the world amazing, they are so far above the sushi places in the KC area and are some of the kindest people. The prices aren't too high and the fish has never tasted anything but fresh. I'm glad every time I go that I see them with a full restaurant. This place needs to stick around. read more

Wow...I've seriously slacked in updating my reviews - I was here like in January. But hey better late the never right? My co-workers and I came here after we had an off-site meeting and we were craving sushi. After several coordinated Yelp searches we settled on Mint. I wasn't sure what to expect when we first got here; it really was a whole-in-the-wall place that I probably wouldn't have looked at twice if not for Yelp. It was definitely low key and suited what we were looking for - sushi, good service, and time to just hang out and bond. It was empty when we arrived (probably due to the fact that we got there right as they opened) and were able to be quickly seated. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful - and really accommodating given we had 6 people with 6 different orders and separate checks. The food was pretty good - however, my only complaint is that I don't need my sushi drowned in various sauces. Sure, it looks amazing but definitely takes away for enjoying the flavors of the fish. Unless, of course you are the type of person who enjoys those awesome sauce designs - then by all means enjoy away! Overall a good experience, and given proximity to work it's possible that we'll be back. Again, if you love fun sauce designs with your sushi this is the place to go!! read more

Midwest Sushi...two words that don't go together. We struggle with fresh fish and cuisine that takes advantage of that non-existent item in these parts, so to find a restaurant that does relatively well given the difficulty of having these ingredients...hell yea! I was referred here by some colleagues, and they got it right...one of the better places in KC for sushi! They have a TON of variety, are great with presentation, have some rolls that wander outside the norm (and they're awesome), and service is solid! I've had their basics (straight fish/seafood rolls), along with some of their custom sushi rolls (like the KC steak roll and spicy yellowtail) and I didn't get a bad roll out of either menu. There are some selections that I'll try before re-ordering a few, but they gots the variety AND the quality! My only gripes, as others have noted, is the small space they occupy...so if you time it wrong, prepare to wait...but that does give Mint some charm; cramped charm, but charm. They can also go heavy on some sauces...but mo' sauce is betta than less sauce, right? Will definitely go back...come fish or high water. read more

By far the best sushi in and around the Lee's Summit I've tried! Their daikon roll is extremely fresh and very yummy. A friend of mine I was with order a roll that was lit on fire, and it was also very tasty. This place has the freshest tasting fish out of anywhere else around here. Also, they are VERY reasonably priced. Their area is rather small, but considering it is always busy when I go, I would assume, they are doing something right! read more

The sushi is decent enough, and they prepare a pretty plate. I'm not taking that away from them. But for lunch, they only seem to have one disinterested server on. It seemingly took 10 minutes to even get drinks orders and the place was not that busy. There are 2 other sushi restaurants within a mile of Mint, while neither have the same presentation, the fish is just as good. Good to see the pretty plate, but don't be surprised by the lackluster service. read more

LOVE This place never lets me down.. I drive the 25 minutes anytime I want sushi because it's worth it. Staff- GREAT! Friendly, helpful, polite I'm that annoying customer wanting details on every roll and they are always happy to help me and recommend dishes Food- DELICIOUS And comes out on time When I make a to go order and they tell me 15 minutes they mean it! Not to mention the presentation is beautiful! They really care, they don't just slop it down on your plate or to go box. Almost too pretty to eat Price- Fabulous So many big glitzy chains charge an arm and a leg for mediocre sushi, not this place. Great prices for AMAZING sushi. GO ASAP read more

Under a new owner and a new name, this sushi spot manages to surpass the reputation of the previous business (Tokyo Express). Slightly smaller roll selection, but this is without a doubt the freshest sushi I have had since California. If you have never visited in it's previous locations, the place is small, so during lunch hours you do have a chance of waiting for a seat. Get there early! Presentation, service, and food is just excellent for a sushi bar. You must check this place out! read more

I only came here once. It was enough. People - We had shoddy service. It took a long time for really anything including refills on drinks. It was not that the waiter was unfriendly... just not attentive? Product - Overpriced for the quality and quantity that you are served. There are quite a few places that I will end up driving further to and paying more for their sushi. I didn't have anything else on their menu other than roles. Place - Cramped. Smelled odd and was loud. I felt like any false move while maneuvering through the tables to be seated would result in a domino effect of fellow patrons. read more

Super yummy trendy sushi shop with sushi cooked by actual Japanese chefs!! I did get a bone in one piece out of two rolls, which is the only reason they didn't get a full five stars. But neither of my sisters got a bone in either of their rolls. We celebrated a birthday and they play a song and put a hat on the birthday girl. A fun night! read more

One of my favorite places in Lee's Summit. Great sushi, bright atmosphere, reasonable prices, service is good. The presentation is awesome. They need to expand, we had to leave a couple of times now because they were so crowded. read more

So fucking good. Just can't even compare. Buy the sushimi. It comes in a rose and god it's so good.

My husband and I think this is hands down the best sushi in Lee's Summit! The interior is cute and fun, but very simple. The rolls have some of the basics, but also some out of the box ones. I also love that they have a TV in the corner of the restaurant that shows many, maybe all of the rolls that they have on their menu and I've seen some roll by that I've added just because they looked more appealing than they sounded on paper and they were! They also plate their food with fun colors and they are very pretty and pretty food always tastes better! ;) Fun local place that I would suggest trying. read more

Pros: Decorated sushi plates you don't find at most other places, free wifi, three rolls for $12.95 lunch special, and "hip" decor/seating. Cons: Painstakingly slow service. There are major gaps between the phases of eating out. Menus, beverage, food, and bill. I only saw one server so I'm sure that's what accounted towards it. It seems to also be a running note in other reviews too. read more

Wonderful experience! Walk in and the atmosphere is clean, fresh, and upbeat. Greeting is friendly and prompt. Honestly me and my husband began to think it might have been a mistake since we learned it was sushi, which neither are a fan of. He ordered the Chicken Hitachi and I ordered the Yellow Chicken Curry. Both are wonderful dishes. Mine was sweet & spicy, a powerhouse of flavor. His was more mellow & like teriyaki sauce. We are so pleased with the experience we plan on returning to try the "cooked" sushi another time! read more

Mint Sushi - Tootsie Roll (had them tempura fry it) - Japanese Near Me - Lee's Summit, Missouri

It was my birthday and I was craving Sushi. We chose this place because of proximity to our house and we knew all the commercial Sushi spots would be packed on a Friday. The building is the LEAST impressive thing about Mint. The food, the service and the drinks were impressive. We didn't have a wait and we spent less than $50 on soup, 4 sushi rolls and drinks. We will be returning to Mint very soon! read more

Mint Sushi - Japanese Near Me - Lee's Summit, Missouri

As my wife loves sushi, I had this for lunch today. Mint has the best sushi I've had in the Blue Springs/Lee's Summit area. The venue isn't perfect. It's easy to miss inside a strip mall, and the inside is fairly small. We came for lunch around noon, and it was mostly full (although I'd say it probably seats less than 30 people total). We ordered two lunch specials (3 rolls of select sushi for $11.95 and 2 rolls of select sushi for $8.95). We tried the California roll, Philadelphia roll, spicy crab roll, spicy tuna roll, and the Tootsie Roll (cooked roll with shrimp and crab). These specials also included an onion soup that was hot and delicious. The presentation is fantastic as the pictures on Yelp show. I am a semi-novice to sushi and I enjoyed all the rolls, especially the spicy crab. My wife loved the spicy tuna roll. This will now be our go to sushi place close to home. read more

Won't lie, we saw this an passed it up - a few times. Decided to check it out last night and I am glad we did. Excellent service and great sushi!! We even tried the KC roll with steak on it and it was fantastic. With your check they give you fresh free sugar donuts - How can you pass up that?! Really happy with my experience and we will be coming back! read more

Good sushi with BEAUTIFUL presentation and great service. I have to say... The only reason that Mint does not get 5 stars from me is the sushi meat itself. I have been to Japan, eaten sushi at 5AM at the Tsukiji fish market, and consumed lots is other great sushi in the US. This was just average sushi. However, everything else about mint was absolutely delightful. We went for lunch and got 3 beautiful rolls for a mere 12 dollars... Not bad! As you can tell by the pictures, the presentation is knock-out. It really looks as good as the pictures look! Also, the lady waiting on our table was very nice and passionate, yet inexperienced with the menu and with sushi. Thanks for a fun dining experience, Mint. I will be back! read more

I love Mint so much for sushi! I had wanted a quick to go order from an unmentionable new sushi place near my apartment. Well, sad to say, it was wrong. Not the first time its happened either. Screw it, I drove out to Mint. I ordered the same thing. I got EXACTLY what I asked for! This place has excellent service and food! Mint to the rescue! read more
