Mint Sushi is absolutely amazing. They really have it all. Don't let the size fool you, they have GREAT sushi, GREAT service, GREAT prices, and AMAZING presentation of their food. We're originally from San Diego and with how many sushi places there are there, we were scared we wouldn't find a good place in the Midwest. SO glad we stopped at this place to try it out. We have a 7 mo old and they're beyond amazing to him and treat him like family. Mint sushi treats all of their customers with respect and seem to be quite close with the community around them. I only came here once. It was enough. People - We had shoddy service. It took a long time for really anything including refills on drinks. It was not that the waiter was unfriendly... just not attentive? Product - Overpriced for the quality and quantity that you are served. There are quite a few places that I will end up driving further to and paying more for their sushi. I didn't have anything else on their menu other than roles. Place - Cramped. I moved to Missouri from California a year and a half ago, and, while I haven't tried a ton of sushi places here in the midwest, this is by far the BEST I've tasted and, for the price, I'd consider it the best in its class. My fiance and I discovered it last week and were blown away by the combination of taste and quality of freshness of the sushi rolls and the attention to detail in stylizing the dishes. The chef obviously cares about what he/she creates. The ambiance (inside) is super hip too (you wouldn't expect it from the strip mall exterior.) Modern decor inside with fun colors. Free wifi too, which I love. I got the Dynamite Roll and some salmon sushi. Hmm. Sorry that i don't recall what my fiance ordered. It was one of the popular sushi rolls with warm crab on top. Ultimately, we were both supremely satisfied. Oh, and I'm gluten-free and wheat-free but since we dropped in without prior planning, didn't bring any amino acids or soy sauce substitute. I have never had a bad experience here and I am here at least once a month. The rolls are solid, there's a lot of variety, and the serving staff are so genuinely kind. They are allergen-friendly here too and go above and beyond to make sure you're not missing out. I have had sushi all over the states and even though Mint may not be out of the world amazing, they are so far above the sushi places in the KC area and are some of the kindest people. The prices aren't too high and the fish has never tasted anything but fresh. I'm glad every time I go that I see them with a full restaurant. This place needs to stick around. read more

Wow...I've seriously slacked in updating my reviews - I was here like in January. But hey better late the never right? My co-workers and I came here after we had an off-site meeting and we were craving sushi. After several coordinated Yelp searches we settled on Mint. I wasn't sure what to expect when we first got here; it really was a whole-in-the-wall place that I probably wouldn't have looked at twice if not for Yelp. It was definitely low key and suited what we were looking for - sushi, good service, and time to just hang out and bond. It was empty when we arrived (probably due to the fact that we got there right as they opened) and were able to be quickly seated. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful - and really accommodating given we had 6 people with 6 different orders and separate checks. The food was pretty good - however, my only complaint is that I don't need my sushi drowned in various sauces. Sure, it looks amazing but definitely takes away for enjoying the flavors of the fish. Unless, of course you are the type of person who enjoys those awesome sauce designs - then by all means enjoy away! Overall a good experience, and given proximity to work it's possible that we'll be back. Again, if you love fun sauce designs with your sushi this is the place to go!! read more

Midwest Sushi...two words that don't go together. We struggle with fresh fish and cuisine that takes advantage of that non-existent item in these parts, so to find a restaurant that does relatively well given the difficulty of having these ingredients...hell yea! I was referred here by some colleagues, and they got it right...one of the better places in KC for sushi! They have a TON of variety, are great with presentation, have some rolls that wander outside the norm (and they're awesome), and service is solid! I've had their basics (straight fish/seafood rolls), along with some of their custom sushi rolls (like the KC steak roll and spicy yellowtail) and I didn't get a bad roll out of either menu. There are some selections that I'll try before re-ordering a few, but they gots the variety AND the quality! My only gripes, as others have noted, is the small space they occupy...so if you time it wrong, prepare to wait...but that does give Mint some charm; cramped charm, but charm. They can also go heavy on some sauces...but mo' sauce is betta than less sauce, right? Will definitely go back...come fish or high water. read more

By far the best sushi in and around the Lee's Summit I've tried! Their daikon roll is extremely fresh and very yummy. A friend of mine I was with order a roll that was lit on fire, and it was also very tasty. This place has the freshest tasting fish out of anywhere else around here. The sushi is decent enough, and they prepare a pretty plate. I'm not taking that away from them. But for lunch, they only seem to have one disinterested server on. It seemingly took 10 minutes to even get drinks orders and the place was not that busy. There are 2 other sushi restaurants within a mile of Mint, while neither have the same presentation, the fish is just as good. Under a new owner and a new name, this sushi spot manages to surpass the reputation of the previous business (Tokyo Express). Slightly smaller roll selection, but this is without a doubt the freshest sushi I have had since California. If you have never visited in it's previous locations, the place is small, so during lunch hours you do have a chance of waiting for a seat. Get there early! Presentation, service, and food is just excellent for a sushi bar. You must check this place out! read more

My husband and I think this is hands down the best sushi in Lee's Summit! The interior is cute and fun, but very simple. The rolls have some of the basics, but also some out of the box ones. I also love that they have a TV in the corner of the restaurant that shows many, maybe all of the rolls that they have on their menu and I've seen some roll by that I've added just because they looked more appealing than they sounded on paper and they were! Pros: Decorated sushi plates you don't find at most other places, free wifi, three rolls for $12.95 lunch special, and "hip" decor/seating. Cons: Painstakingly slow service. There are major gaps between the phases of eating out. Menus, beverage, food, and bill. I only saw one server so I'm sure that's what accounted towards it. Wonderful experience! Walk in and the atmosphere is clean, fresh, and upbeat. Greeting is friendly and prompt. Honestly me and my husband began to think it might have been a mistake since we learned it was sushi, which neither are a fan of. He ordered the Chicken Hitachi and I ordered the Yellow Chicken Curry. Both are wonderful dishes. Mine was sweet & spicy, a powerhouse of flavor. His was more mellow & like teriyaki sauce. **Super accommodating with gluten intolerances** I called Mint to ask if they had a gluten-free menu and they said that they can make many of the rolls gluten-free. As my wife loves sushi, I had this for lunch today. Mint has the best sushi I've had in the Blue Springs/Lee's Summit area. The venue isn't perfect. It's easy to miss inside a strip mall, and the inside is fairly small. We came for lunch around noon, and it was mostly full (although I'd say it probably seats less than 30 people total). We ordered two lunch specials (3 rolls of select sushi for $11.95 and 2 rolls of select sushi for $8.95). We tried the California roll, Philadelphia roll, spicy crab roll, spicy tuna roll, and the Tootsie Roll (cooked roll with shrimp and crab). These specials also included an onion soup that was hot and delicious. The presentation is fantastic as the pictures on Yelp show. I am a semi-novice to sushi and I enjoyed all the rolls, especially the spicy crab. My wife loved the spicy tuna roll. This will now be our go to sushi place close to home. read more

I have been to Japan, eaten sushi at 5AM at the Tsukiji fish market, and consumed lots is other great sushi in the US. This was just average sushi. However, everything else about mint was absolutely delightful. We went for lunch and got 3 beautiful rolls for a mere 12 dollars... Not bad! As you can tell by the pictures, the presentation is knock-out. It really looks as good as the pictures look! Place is cozy and parking is plenty! The way they present their sushi is very artsy and makes the food really appetizing!! My mom and my brother who really dont like sushi actually ate some of the sushi rolls so that says alot about how yummy their food is. I am taking one star off due to the table not clean enough, the table mats were sticky and stained from soy sauce lol. Overall it was good experience and I def would come back again. read more
