I've had a couple of positive experiences here (primarily with Tien who has left the salon). Salon…read moreis cute and clean and seems like they do a lot to create a welcoming atmosphere. However, my last visit with new stylist Belle left me with complete shock and disappointment. We clearly did not have same idea of color, but I also ended up with a refresh butterfly cut with terribly uneven layers all around my hair, and hair around my face chopped back to my ears because she wanted to remove weight. It was also extremely texturized leaving holes through out my hair. I for sure had damage but walked out with even more somehow, and didn't even realize how bad because she didn't do the included styling at the end (realized at home this cut was impossible to style!). They offered a corrective service which I appreciated after spending $400, and knowing it's a small business. Salon owner was nice but ultimately the color was still off (explicitly asked for a shadow root but just had lots of chaotic bleach), and cut hair was already cut and too far gone to blend apparently. Senior stylist who was correcting also continuously yanked my hair in the bowl, saying she had to in order to get the toner on everything. Super painful and I don't even have a sensitive head. Didn't realize how bad and uneven it still was all around until getting another corrective service at another salon recently. Such an uncomfortable experience overall and definitely not the salon for me. Hope others have a better experience or go to Wheelhouse ATX who has been nothing but kind, professional, and very skilled at handling a very messy correction

I've only left Apotheca for about two hours and I cannot get over how stellar my haircut came out!…read moreNot only is this salons truly spacious, clean, and well lit, but the entrance is a horticulture's paradise. They take pride in creating a community and you can see how embracing they are for everyone to come and get their hair done here. Not only is this a safe space and open to all for the queer community and beyond, but they offer hair, makeup, spa, and treatment services. I was able to make a same day appointment and was guided on how they have a few different tiers of stylists and after going over my needs, the receptionist guided me to book with Samaia. We all know how annoying parking can get, so I was stoked when they informed me about the complimentary parking within the same building for retail. It's the first three floors so make sure it's marked for retail (we hate getting towed in this house). As I walked in, I was promptly greeted and asked what I would like to drink. Now in all my years of getting my haircuts, I have never been offered SNACKS upon check-in. What a simple yet amazing way to elevate your salon. They had alcoholic and non-alcoholic options and you're encouraged to access the snacks and fridge if you desire something else. My barber/stylist Samaia met me in the lobby after I waited for a few minutes and ushered me into the back. Don't let your initial opinion fool you because there are like 10+ chairs and a dedicated hair washing room (with charging stations) there. I was informed my cut included a wash, style, and cleanup which was much appreciated. I showed her a few examples of hairstyles that stood out to me and she gaved me her open and honest expert opinion which was so nice. I loved she didn't just say yes we can do that and then hit my hair. We took a few minutes discussing options and we decided on a cut that would give me the effect I desired yet room for growth. Samaia's skillset transformed my hair and gave me the Cinderella effect of transforming me from a pumpkin to a beautiful glass carriage. She took her time and carefully used scissors and plenty of different tools for my hair. Many of which where the first I've seen even with my multiple visits to salons and barbershops in my lifetime. What stood out to me though was her approach to educate and demonstrate how to utilize tools when at home. It felt achievable and I even ended up purchasing a diffuser tool for my blowdryer. My hair feels and looks like a celebrity cut and I am so thankful that Samaia was able to give me the haircut I've been wanting to have for the longest time. I'll definitely be back!!

After begging her for a cut and beard trim, as she has a very loyal following, and me, a stranger, but she let me in, quite late, and on her day off. She turned this mutt into a hound that felt like a jeweled gem, I felt as if I could fly, "I like the cut of your jib", was said to me by friends and foe alike, And I'll be back again, you can bet on this, of this I would not lie. Tina could charge $40 a cut, and I'd gladly pay it, but at $17 a cut it's a steal. I cannot encourage you enough to visit Tina. Be prepared to wait if you don't call ahead. Trista is amazing!…read more I have mixed hair so it can be daunting to try and find someone who understands what my hair needs. I got my hair cut and deep conditioned on my first visit and then got my hair colored with peek a boo blue highlights on my second visit. I love how my hair turned out and can't wait to keep experimenting with it in the future w/ Trista. She saw my vision and didn't crush my hopes when I told her I wanted blue hair. To me, having a stylist who keeps it real but also tries to make the customer happy is a dime a dozen. The vibe of the shop is hip and fresh too so you feel like you're in a place where people walk out looking like their best. I love my hair. Definitely recommend this salon!

I almost don't want to write this review, seeing as it's hard enough to get an appointment as is,…read morebut given how good Trista and Columbo are they deserve the praise. As a guy that has never went to a salon to see a stylist and always stuck with his afro/fades, I was a bit at a loss of what to do, especially without dear old mom at my side. Scouring the internet for stylists that had experience with textured hair, I contacted a few, but ultimately found hope in the form of the Hair Social. Seeing fellow POC raving about Trista, I decided to go with her. After getting in contact with her, we set up a consulting session. Meeting her during our consultation I felt at ease instantly, she was very welcoming and wanted to understand exactly what I was going for. Seeing what I wanted she gave me a couple of options while asking me about how long I wanted to keep the style, and what kind of maintenance I would do to maintain it, to narrow down what would be best for me. Her "can do" attitude was rejuvenating, given that another stylist I contacted basically said what I wanted couldn't be done. We scheduled two appointment the week before Christmas, one for her husband, Columbo, the barber and co-owner of the business, whom I would get the first part of my style from, and the other for her. Both her and her husband are appointment only, but she was very flexible in regards to my schedule. You can tell that Columbo and Trista are a solid team. As soon as I walked in for my haircut with him, he knew what hair style I wanted and how to go about it, given that I talked with Trista about it. He had skill! So much in fact, that I almost started changing my mind about getting my hair styled after seeing the reactions to my hair cut! The next day during my styling session with Trista she went over what she was doing as she was doing it, so I wouldn't be left in the dark about what was going on. We talked like we were old friends, no awkward silences or anything. When she was finished, I was in awe of my hair. Months of growing it out and it was finally the curly masterpiece I envisioned it to be! All for $110 (and that's including generous tips). I've gotten sooooo many compliments on my hair, it's ridiculous. After our session, she even sent me an e-mail of what products to get to maintain my hair and an approximate time of when I should come back to check my hair's progress. Y'all have a customer for life!

Very disappointed with Soha Salon's refund policy and the way my situation was handled. I…read moreunderstand that businesses have policies in place, but I feel that there should be more consideration for the customer when a service does not meet expectations. I was hoping for better customer service and a more reasonable resolution rather than simply being referred back to the refund policy. A policy shouldn't replace good customer service or an effort to make things right. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not feel comfortable recommending Soha Salon. I hope they reconsider how they handle situations like this in the future and put more emphasis on customer satisfaction.
